I’ve been thinking a bit about place names recently, and I wondered what people think about them.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like place names or not? Would you name a child after a place?
And what are some of your favourites?

I quite enjoy some place names. Personally, I’d probably stick to the ones that are well established as names, mean something to me (maybe in the middle spot) or feel appropriate for me to use (ie. [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_f]Indian[/name_f] friend finds it realllly odd that white people use [name_f]India[/name_f] as a name

I agree with greyblue - I’d only use a place name if it was really established as a name or very meaningful to me!
I really like Alaska & Florence - and if it counts, Adelaide! There are also some Greek place names that I wouldn’t use but I think sound pretty, like Chania/Hania, Athena, Delphi, Kallithea, Icaria, Thessaly and Rhodes.
Louisiana is also a big GP of mine!
I agree with @Greyblue and @tallemaja thoughts both on the sentiment around place names themselves, and personal significance.
I also agree with its favourites: [name_u]Alaska[/name_u], [name_u]Florence[/name_u], and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. Those three are on my list!

I like quite a few place names. Two I particularly like and would even consider using are [name_f]Vaila[/name_f] & [name_f]Delphi[/name_f].
i definitely like place names! (says the man with a place name lol)
i wouldn’t name a kid after a place, but i’d use a place name if i liked the name! i would never use a place name that’s super connected to a place and has little use as a name. i also wouldn’t use a place name if it was the name of a place near me. the capital of my state, for example, is getting pretty popular as a name, but to me it’s just a city with a lot of traffic that i dislike going to. so i wouldn’t use that.
i really like rome, florence, venezia, olympia, and adelaide 
[name_f]My[/name_f] family has Georgias, Virginias, a [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_f]Cambria[/name_f], [name_u]Houston[/name_u] (middle) and [name_u]London[/name_u] (middle). I think they’re pretty cool just not really my style, my favorite that I would actually use is [name_u]Oakland[/name_u] (which was vetoed)
i don’t mind place names to me they are just names that can be a place or name
