Ooh, what a wonderful question! I hope this extends to names with flower meanings as well. If not, please ignore those.

[name_f]Amaranth[/name_f] means “unfading,” and while it does not do well in winter, it is still a lovely flower with a nice name and meaning! I would highly recommend looking up the flower names you get in this thread in the Victorian flower language, it is fascinating! For instance, [name_f]Amaranth[/name_f] is associated with immortality!

[name_f]Calanthe[/name_f] are a genus of orchids commonly known as [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] Orchids! :slightly_smiling_face: I love [name_f]Calanthe[/name_f] for many a reason, but especially for the nicknames of “Anthe” and “Calla,” and the meaning of “beautiful flower.” :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: She also has such an appealing, lyrical and spunky sound, that being ca-LAN-thee! I love all -anthe/-antha names to bits, as they all have the meaning of “flower” in them, some examples being [name_f]Anthea[/name_f], Arianthe, [name_f]Chrysanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Clianthe[/name_f], [name_f]Dianthe[/name_f], Erianthe, Euanthe, [name_f]Evanthe[/name_f], Helianthe, [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f], [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f], Melanthe, Melianthe, Melissanthe, Rhodanthe, et cetera.

[name_f]Eirlys[/name_f] is “snowdrop” in Welsh, and is often pronounced AYR-liss. I love how delicate and sparkling this one is! She reminds me of a more fanciful [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (no shade to [name_f]Alice[/name_f], as she has a sparkle all her own)! :slightly_smiling_face:

[name_f]Endzela[/name_f] means “snowdrop” in Georgian, pronounced as EHN-DZEH-LA. I find her to be elaborate in the best way possible, she is a longtime love of mine, and I think the nickname “Zelda” works nicely here, even if it is a tad bit stretchy.

[name_f]Viorica[/name_f] means “violet flower” in Romanian, and is pronounced vee-o-REE-ka. It refers to two plants: the alpine squill flower (Scilla bifolia), and the sweet violet flower (Viola odorata). I think she is gorgeous, and a great alternative to [name_f]Violet[/name_f], if you are looking for something outside of the box!

[name_u]Vivendel[/name_u] means “honeysuckle” in Norwegian, said as VEE-ven-dell, and is a charming and adventurous choice that is reminiscent of Rivendell. :slightly_smiling_face: Honeysuckles also do well in winter!

A few of my favorite flowering plant genera…
[name_f]Calluna[/name_f] (heather)
Linaria (toadflax)
[name_f]Lunaria[/name_f] (honesty)

And some common names for flowers…
Alpenrose (Rhododendron ferrugineum)
Rosebay (Rhododendron primarily, but a few other plants as well)
Snowrose (Rhododendron ferrugineum)

Sorry that I did not provide a very lengthy list, but I hope you appreciate them all the same! :slightly_smiling_face: If I repeated anything, consider it me seconding the name! Much luck to you on your naming journey! :yellow_heart: Have a fabulous day!

Ooh I’m not sure what flowers are associated particularly with winter as we don’t have a real cold winter in the subtropics so here are a few that I love that are more unusual:

[name_f]Jacaranda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Jacki[/name_f] or [name_f]Cara[/name_f] or evenr Randi… These have the most beautiful mauve flowers and cover the ground underneath in a violet carpet

Rose-Mallee this is a favourite gumtree flower of mine they are vibrant red and look like fairy bells, more unusual then [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

Rhodantha: meaning [name_u]Rose[/name_u] Garden again the same gumtree blossom as above it’s more scientific name but still beautiful

Franji (short form of Franjipani) a beautiful fragrant blossom, it blooms around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] time here but our xmas is in summer…

[name_f]Jonquil[/name_f] so sweet this name [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_u]Quill[/name_u] are adorable nn and they smell delightful

Myrianthe: this means a myriad of flowers so that should cover them all! Nn [name_f]Meri[/name_f]!

[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f] i just love the beauty of this plant and its elegance I think this is a lovely name too

[name_f]Acacia[/name_f]: these are winter flowers! With sunny bright yellow puff ball blossoms that add warmth and cheer to the winter landscape

[name_f]Araluen[/name_f]: meaning where the water lillies meet water lily is the [name_u]July[/name_u] birth flower so thats an apt winter flower name

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]: winter flower!

Orlaya: this is a white flower which has the most elegant name

[name_f]Camellia[/name_f]: winter flower! NN: [name_f]Ellia[/name_f], [name_f]Cammi[/name_f] or [name_u]Mel[/name_u]

Banksia: winter flower!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] these help

I don’t think [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] or Calla/Callalily have been mentioned! I absolutely adore both of those. [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] is another one I’ve been liking. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
