Any thoughts on my list would be greatly appreciated… it just keeps growing, I don’t even know my own style anymore!
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name]
[name]Norah[/name]
[name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name])
[name]Noelle[/name] ( hubby has said only if she comes in [name]December[/name])
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name])
[name]Nina[/name] (new on the list, I like that it means grace)
[name]Jane[/name]
Favorites, least favorites, impressions? I’ve been so indecisive I actually cried over names a few days ago… pretty sure my husband thinks nuts
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] - I like this one, very very pretty.
[name]Norah[/name] - one of my absolute favorite names of all time. Very soft and feminine, to me.
[name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name]) - It’s nice, but my personal preference runs to [name]Adaire[/name] or [name]Adara[/name]
[name]Noelle[/name] ( hubby has said only if she comes in [name]December[/name]) - Aww… [name]Noelle[/name] for a december baby would be adorable.
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name]) - like [name]Tess[/name], dislike [name]Esther[/name]. Seems like an “old lady” name to me. Nothing wrong with it, just feels antique.
[name]Nina[/name] (new on the list, I like that it means grace) - I’m underwhelmed by [name]Nina[/name]… but i love love love [name]Grace[/name].
[name]Jane[/name] - Another favorite of mine… I love this one as a middle name.
I completely understand the bulging list syndrome! Everyday I add more, and never take any away…
My thoughts:
[name]Lydia[/name]/[name]Lydie[/name] - I really like [name]Lydia[/name], with the nn [name]Lydie[/name]. I do like nickname names, but [name]Lydie[/name] feels incomplete as a first. What about [name]Libby[/name]?
[name]Norah[/name] - Okay, but I prefer [name]Nora[/name].
[name]Dara[/name] - When I look at this I wouldn’t say it like [name]Sarah[/name] I would say it like [name]Kara[/name] (car-a). I really like Dar-a, not liking Dare-a. You could combine [name]Norah[/name] and [name]Dara[/name] and go with [name]Dora[/name]?
[name]Noelle[/name] - [name]Love[/name]. Always have, but agree baby must be born in [name]December[/name]
[name]Esther[/name] - My favourite from your list. [name]Love[/name] the nn [name]Tess[/name] for [name]Esther[/name].
[name]Nina[/name] - I’m luke warm on [name]Nina[/name]. It’s pretty, but I don’t love it, it sounds a little 70s maybe?
[name]Jane[/name] - A close second. It really is a perfect name. And no I don’t think it’s too plain.
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] - It’s very pretty! I prefer [name]Lydie[/name] (I’m a francophile).
[name]Norah[/name] - Like [name]Nora[/name] better, but still a nice name.
[name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name]) - I thought it would be pronounced DAR-a, not dare-[name]AH[/name].
[name]Noelle[/name] ( hubby has said only if she comes in [name]December[/name]) - I love [name]Noelle[/name], it’s gorgeous. Reserved for true christmas babies.
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name]) - [name]Love[/name] [name]Esther[/name], love [name]Tess[/name]. My favourite.
[name]Nina[/name] (new on the list, I like that it means grace) - I really like [name]Nina[/name], it’s my godmother’s name. I also went to school with two [name]Nina[/name]'s.
[name]Jane[/name] - Very classic and pretty. Not plain.
I love [name]Lydia[/name]! [name]Lydie[/name] and [name]Nina[/name] are also really nice. I have a very good friend named [name]Nina[/name] and the name will always be close to my heart. Your list is beautiful, the only one I am not a fan of is [name]Esther[/name]…partly I think because if the movie Orphan. Anyway, I don’t know if you’ve seen that, but don’t let it stop you if you love it!
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Lydia[/name]. I’d use [name]Lydie[/name] just as a nn, I think it would confuse people, they wouldn’t hear it right / would spell it Liddy.
[name]Norah[/name] - least favorite? I don’t like the extra H. But it’s still a pretty nice name.
[name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name]) - least favorite? [name]Just[/name] kind of plain to me. But it’s a fine choice.
[name]Noelle[/name] ( hubby has said only if she comes in [name]December[/name]) - I don’t love the name [name]Noelle[/name] but it’s a perfectly nice choice.
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name]) - I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Esther[/name] but do feel it’s a somewhat bold choice, it’s more old lady than the rest of your taste so be sure you love it. [name]Stella[/name] is a related name that’s a bit more “in”. [name]Esther[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] would be really nice for a [name]December[/name] baby with star of [name]Christmas[/name] meaning.
[name]Nina[/name] (new on the list, I like that it means grace) - I adore the name [name]Nina[/name], I feel like I have seen other meanings for it though? It is a name used in many languages and cultures (which is cool!), and I think the “grace” meanings come from the fact that in English speaking lands (and/or maybe elsewhere?) it was historically a nickname for [name]Anne[/name], which means grace as well.
[name]Jane[/name] - love [name]Jane[/name].
My top 3 are [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Jane[/name], and [name]Nina[/name]. I also quite like [name]Esther[/name]. Lukewarm on [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Dara[/name], and [name]Norah[/name], but if you love them go for them! No concerns with those names at all - you have very nice taste.
I like [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] a lot. Very classic and elegant names. [name]Noelle[/name] is pretty, but a little cheesy in my opinion if she’s born in [name]December[/name].
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] - I’d really prefer [name]Lydia[/name] over [name]Lydie[/name] and you can call her [name]Lydie[/name] if you want. But either way, I am not especially fond of the name [name]Lydia[/name]. It reminds me of the gothic girl from Beetlejuice.
[name]Norah[/name]-I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Norah[/name]. I feel like it is such an underrated name. It is very sophisticated yet down-to-earth sounding. It has a great meaning. Really one of my favorite names.
[name]Dara[/name]- I would actually pronounce this Darr-uh. I like the [name]Daria[/name] version better or [name]Darya[/name]. Those can be pronounced Dare-ee-uh or Darr-ya. I like the latter.
[name]Noelle[/name] --this is a very pretty name.
[name]Esther[/name] —Very cute! I have always loved [name]Esther[/name]. It gives me the same type of feeling as [name]Norah[/name]. But I prefer the nickname [name]Estie[/name].
[name]Nina[/name]-this name is worn out for me.
[name]Jane[/name]–cute!
I’d have to say my favorite from your list are [name]Norah[/name], [name]Esther[/name], [name]Noelle[/name], and [name]Dara[/name] in that order. I think [name]Norah[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would be adorable
That’s for the input, it seems like [name]Dara[/name] is never well received, my husband likes it and it’s meaning ( compassion) so I keep it on the list his favorite is [name]Norah[/name] [name]Jane[/name], but I’m just not ready to give up [name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Esther[/name] yet. Middle name will probably be [name]Ginger[/name] if it fits. It’s my grandmas name.
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name]-not mad on it but its OK
[name]Norah[/name]-[name]LOVE[/name] but prefer [name]Nora[/name]. I do like [name]Eleanora[/name].
[name]Dara[/name]-no
[name]Noelle[/name]-no
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name])-[name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Nina[/name]-like as a nickname
[name]Jane[/name]-too plain but could be ready for a come back
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] - Absolutely gorgeous! I definitely think [name]Lydia[/name] is ready for a comeback. Not a fan of [name]Lydie[/name] however. [name]Norah[/name] - Very sweet, I like this name. [name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name]) - Not a fan. [name]Noelle[/name] ( hubby has said only if she comes in [name]December[/name]) - This name is nice enough, but I’m not a big fan. I think it works better in the middle name spot. [name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name]) - Absolutely perfect! My favourite on the list along with [name]Lydia[/name]. [name]Nina[/name] (new on the list, I like that it means grace) - Cute. [name]Jane[/name] - Nice enough, but a little bit plain for me.
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] - sounds really dowdy to me. [name]Lydie[/name] is alright though.
[name]Norah[/name] - I really like the [name]Nora[/name] variation. Still lovely though.
[name]Dara[/name] - okay, but has a nice friendly vibe to it.
[name]Noelle[/name] - I know a little girl who has this as a middle name. Kind of cute name, but I can’t picture this on an adult.
[name]Esther[/name] - really like this one, though not as keen on nn [name]Tess[/name].
[name]Nina[/name] - I really go for the “short and sweet” type names. This is one of my favorites of that kind.
[name]Jane[/name] - Would like to see this make a comeback. The [name]Jane[/name] Eyre association really helps, too.
[name]Lydia[/name]- not my favourite name in the world, but I like that it’s not used very often.
[name]Norah[/name]- I don’t really like [name]Norah[/name]. I just feel that it doesn’t have that much personality bu itself. I like [name]Eleanor[/name] a lot better.
[name]Dara[/name]- I think that a lot of people would pronounce it dahr-a instead of dare-a.
[name]Noelle[/name]- very pretty and definitely appropriate for a [name]December[/name] baby.
[name]Esther[/name]- not a fan. I find it very granny-ish. I like [name]Tess[/name], though.
[name]Nina[/name]- short and sweet. I’d love to meet a little [name]Nina[/name].
[name]Jane[/name]- my favourite from the list. Short, sweet, classic and has literary references.
[name]Lydia[/name] or [name]Lydie[/name] I think [name]Lydia[/name] is a beautiful name with grace and charm
[name]Norah[/name] I dislike [name]Nora[/name] it reminds me of a plain girl with thick spectacles
[name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name])I like it
[name]Noelle[/name] ( hubby has said only if she comes in [name]December[/name])In general I don’t like names that begin with No as I see it as giving your child a name with a negative in it.
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name])Very pretty and [name]Tess[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] are lovely
[name]Nina[/name] (new on the list, I like that it means grace)I would not use it but I would use [name]Antonina[/name]
[name]Jane[/name][name]Lovely[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] - I love [name]Lydia[/name]. However, I don’t think it fits well with [name]Ginger[/name] and it isn’t my favorite on the list.
[name]Norah[/name] - [name]Norah[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Norah[/name] [name]Ginger[/name]
[name]Dara[/name] (sounds like [name]Sarah[/name]) - nms.
[name]Noelle[/name] - [name]Noelle[/name] is one of my personal favorites and it’s my favorite on your list. I think I’d prefer [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Noelle[/name] - though the names together make me think of yummy gingerbread men.
[name]Esther[/name] (nn [name]Tess[/name]) - [name]Esther[/name] is another favorite on the list but I don’t like the doubling up of the -er ending with [name]Esther[/name] and [name]Ginger[/name].
[name]Nina[/name] - I’m neutral on this. No real thoughts. I guess that’s speaks for itself.
[name]Jane[/name] - I don’t think [name]Jane[/name] [name]Ginger[/name] or [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Jane[/name] sounds good together.
[name]Lydia[/name]-not my fave, although it is pretty. It sounds old fashioned but not in a good way.
[name]Norah[/name]-one of my top 5. [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Dara[/name]-Too made up sounding. Strongly dislike. Sounds like dare.
[name]Noelle[/name]-Really like this, although it sounds sort of 80s to me just because I knew a girl growing up, probably born in the late 70s. It is a great mn option though. my daughter was born in [name]December[/name] and sometimes I wish I used this for her mn.
[name]Esther[/name] nn [name]Tess[/name]. I have an aunt in her 60s named [name]Esther[/name], so it is hard for me to imagine this on a baby, but I do like this name. it is similar to me as [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], an older name coming back in style. [name]Tessa[/name]/[name]Tess[/name] were also once in my top 10 so love that nn.
[name]Nina[/name]-I like this name
[name]Jane[/name]-love this name. My 26 year old cousins name. Classic and simple and pretty. And she is a very cute girl.
Least favorites are [name]Dara[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name].
