Please diversify images on NB

A picture of a white baby SHOULD NOT appear as a link to a list of African-American names. I understand these images may be randomized to some degree, but I have not seen a picture of a baby of color in Nameberry’s list link image rotation for some time now. This is unacceptable and part of a larger pattern of racism on Nameberry that needs to change.

It’s always the same picture (or the pink colored one) for list of the day and yes, it annoys me as well!

Please don’t interpret a technical limitation as racism. When we changed the layout from three columns to two, some of those boxes with list of the day or name of the day seem to have fallen away and the ones that remain happen to feature white babies. The images are static and don’t change according to the topic of the list. I will see if we can either bring all the boxes back into rotation or do away with them all together. Because they are auto generated it’s not something we’ve spent time on

This has been an on and off issue for years though. I’m just finding it a little hard to believe that it’s due to a technical error, I suppose.

For me it’s always been the same pictures for the same categories, though the categories change.
Sometimes it’s “List of the [name_u]Day[/name_u]”, “Unusual Name of the [name_u]Day[/name_u]”, “Cool User List”, etc. that appears on the page I’m currently on.
Maybe more pictures of children of different origins could be added into the mix for some of the categories if the lists are randomized just so there’s a little more diversity in general.

I’ve noticed a disappointing lack of diversity as well, which needs to be rectified.
