Please give me advice on our short list:

We are pregnant with baby #3; a boy.
His siblings are [name]Olivia[/name] [name]Eleanore[/name] and [name]Emma[/name] [name]Noel[/name]…although common, I love the names and their meaning: [name]Peace[/name] and [name]Light[/name] and Whole [name]Peace[/name].
This time we are leaning more toward family names than meaning.

Our short list includes:

[name]Henry[/name] [name]Raymond[/name] “[name]Hank[/name]”…problem?? Our last name is [name]Miller[/name] and we are not trying to name the little one after this author- will others catch this?
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Raymond[/name] “E-[name]Ray[/name]” for nick name
[name]Liam[/name] [name]Everett[/name]…problem?? When said with our last name it may sound like [name]Lia[/name] [name]Miller[/name].
Finnerty [name]Raymond[/name] “[name]Finn[/name]” (Finnerty is a family surname)
[name]Raymond[/name] [name]Everett[/name] “[name]Ray[/name]”

[name]Everett[/name] and [name]Raymond[/name] are both family names, as is Finnerty.
What do you think?
I am also open to other, similar toned suggestions.

I really like [name]Raymond[/name] [name]Everett[/name] or Finnerty [name]Raymond[/name]

With [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Emma[/name], I think [name]Henry[/name] works the best style-wise. [name]Will[/name] he always go by [name]Hank[/name], or just at home? I love the nn [name]Hank[/name], and I think if he’s [name]Hank[/name] [name]Miller[/name] most of the time then the author connection is not such a big deal. If it were an author with more unusual names, say [name]Ernest[/name] [name]Hemingway[/name], then it would stick out quite a bit more and I’d say no  But I think in this case you’re good!

I also like [name]Everett[/name] quite a bit. I agree that [name]Liam[/name] doesn’t work w/ your last name. It’s also very similar to [name]Emma[/name]. Finnerty is interesting, and I do like the nn [name]Finn[/name]. But when I saw Finnerty [name]Raymond[/name] I immediately thought of [name]Rafferty[/name], which I [name]LOVE[/name]. [name]Rafferty[/name] [name]Miller[/name] is insanely handsome

So, top pick is [name]Henry[/name], followed by [name]Rafferty[/name] and [name]Everett[/name]. Other ideas:

[name]Declan[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name]
[name]Lewis[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]

I love the flow of [name]Henry[/name] [name]Everett[/name], while personally not crazy about the nn [name]Hank[/name], for me, takes away something from the Classic [name]Henry[/name], which in itself is very user friendly. That being said, I am also not a fan of [name]Everett[/name], only b/c I know someone with that name!! BUT [name]Henry[/name] [name]Everett[/name] sounds really good together, my prejudices aside.

I also love [name]Rafferty[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Dashiell[/name], [name]Frederick[/name] (am using!), [name]Geoffrey[/name] (completely underused), [name]Gregory[/name] and [name]Byron[/name].

Good [name]Luck[/name]!!

As someone who studied English, I don’t think [name]Henry[/name] [name]Miller[/name] will be an issue for most. There is always going to be a few people who connect that, but everyone has connections to different names for different reasons. Look at me with [name]Everett[/name]!!!

I like [name]Everett[/name] [name]Raymond[/name], but I’m not crazy about “E-ray” as an NN. Sounds like a hip-hop name to me!

I also like Finnerty [name]Raymond[/name] & love the NN [name]Finn[/name].
I personally would jump immediately to the author if I heard [name]Henry[/name] [name]Miller[/name], but don’t think that would be the case with most people.
Good luck!

My favorite of your list is [name]Raymond[/name] [name]Everett[/name]. I think [name]Raymond[/name] is a great underused classic and [name]Ray[/name] the ultimate cool nickname. [name]Ray[/name] [name]Miller[/name]: Perfect. Plus it’s a family name.

I love [name]Henry[/name] and even [name]Hank[/name] but do think [name]Henry[/name] [name]Miller[/name], while not instantly identifiable by most, does forever connect your child with a famous person that doesn’t have the most savory image. Finnerty, nice, but [name]Finn[/name] is getting very popular. Would work in the middle with [name]Raymond[/name].

I really like Finnerty [name]Raymond[/name]
what about;
Finnerty [name]Liam[/name]
Finnerty [name]Everett[/name]
Finnerty [name]Henry[/name]

My gut reaction was that I love [name]Henry[/name] with your other kids’ names… and now I am going to have to go Google “[name]Henry[/name] [name]Miller[/name]” b/c I have no idea who that is! And, yes I went to college, and even graduate school and still have no idea who that is! So, I certainly don’t think that would be an immediate connection for most people (maybe I am an exception, though, I don’t know!), but if there is some bad connotation for the people who [name]DO[/name] connect the name with the author, then maybe you don’t want to do it.

[name]EDIT[/name]: ok, so Wikipedia doesn’t make me like the guy : ). But, I still don’t think most people will know who he is.

Never heard of Finnerty…that’s different and love that it is a family name.

I have a [name]Finn[/name] in the form of [name]Fintan[/name], and although it hasn’t happened often, some do automatically call him [name]Finley[/name]. Ut hummmm…its [name]Fintan[/name]!! Its a little annoying.

My friend was going to call her baby [name]Henry[/name] if a boy nn [name]Hal[/name]?? Not sure if that is preferable to [name]Hank[/name] - just thought i’d throw that out there. As it happens her [name]Henry[/name] was an [name]Isobel[/name] in the end!
