Please help! A girl after two boys but now Stuck on 2 names!

Please help me decided…[name]Juliette[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name]? DH favors [name]Victoria[/name] but I am not in love with the nn…I love the name, do you think she could get through life without a nn? Suggestions for middle names? Which would you pick and why? Thank you thank you! I am driving my husband crazy!

I like [name]Juliette[/name] a lot more! I love its nns ([name]Jules[/name], [name]Jewel[/name], [name]Etta[/name], [name]Julia[/name], etc.), and I’ve never been a fan of [name]Victoria[/name] or its nns, really… it’s always had a harsh, austere feeling to it that has never really appealed to me. I think [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] would be lovely, though! What nns have you considered for [name]Victoria[/name]? I am not a fan of the more obvious [name]Vicky[/name], [name]Tori[/name], [name]Toria[/name], or [name]Ria[/name], but I think [name]Rory[/name], [name]Via[/name], or even [name]Tia[/name] are usable, as well, and I like [name]Rory[/name] and [name]Via[/name] a lot more than [name]Vicky[/name]/[name]Tori[/name], personally.

Good luck!

Not even V? Or [name]Vi[/name]? I like both names the same to be honest haha.

Thanks for the advice and votes so far! I do like V or [name]Vi[/name] and wouldn’t mind [name]ViVi[/name]. I like the nn [name]Jules[/name]! DH and I are not nn users but how would this work if we called her my her full name all her life and then…she gets a nn in grade school or highschool or some people tend to have a knee jerk reaction and call her [name]Vicky[/name] or [name]Julie[/name] from the start! [name]How[/name] do we insist no nn or if they give her one to use thenne we want!

Our all time favorite name since we met 11 years ago was [name]Isabella[/name] but now with it being #1 in popularity it has kind of lost its magic a bit for me…DH does not mind the popularity factor…so we settled on [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Isabella[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name] and I like the suggestion [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]! Thoughts please on middle names or nn? Thank you! This is so hard…not o hard with my boys!

I actually think both names are just gorgeous.
I really really like [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]. ([name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] is ok, but it just doesn’t have the same ring as [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]!)

About the whole nickname thing, I don’t really think a nickname is necessary for either [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name]. But I do see your point about people just giving them a casual nickname… I’m pretty sure that if you introduce your daughter/she introduced herself as [name]Victoria[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name], people should have the courtesy to call her that. And if they try to dub her with [name]Vicky[/name]/[name]Julie[/name], just politely tell them no. And tell them it’s [name]Victoria[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name] or tell them your preferred nickname.

I know I said that neither name needed a nickname. But I do really like [name]Victoria[/name] nn [name]Vi[/name]. I also like [name]Tori[/name]/[name]Tory[/name]. [name]Juliette[/name] nn [name]Jules[/name] is cute, as well.

Thanks! [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]! I like that combo too! [name]Will[/name] mention it to DH just incase but I do think he is hung up on [name]Isabella[/name] you never know though! Thank you! Any more thoughts on nn or mn for [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name]? Thank you!

I prefer [name]Juliette[/name] but [name]Victoria[/name] is lovely. As for when she gets to school, I think a lot will depend on her own reaction and how you raise her. In my experience, kids as young as 5 are usually able to explain what they go by. I also have to say that in 5 years working with 5 year old children now, I’ve really never seen teachers or students assume nicknames. This is in NYC, cultural practice might vary, but if this is happening, it’s rare. People wait to be told. [name]Even[/name] with my own name - I prefer [name]Jess[/name] but usually introduce myself as [name]Jessica[/name] in professional contexts - I have to explain the [name]Jess[/name] usually or [name]Jessica[/name] will stick. Sometimes even when I do explain it : D. In the rare cases people have wanted to switch to [name]Jess[/name] without my mentioning it, they have always asked.

So…I understand the fear because it could happen…one colleague took to calling me [name]Jessi[/name] which I don’t really love, but I didn’t mind it from him too much - he was an older guy, like in his 70s, from a different culture and I think that may have been what was going on - but I think basically she’ll go by what she likes, which will likely be what you like (but if it’s not…that’s her choice : D!).

[name]Juliette[/name] is gorgeous! It’s so much prettier! [name]Victoria[/name] sounds so serious to me. And I think it would be very hard for her to avoid nicknames as [name]Vicky[/name] is such an obvious and [name]Victoria[/name] is quite a long name.

And whether you like it or not, she may choose to go by a nn later in life; my friend called [name]Victoria[/name] chose the nn [name]Vicky[/name] / Vicks, and her mum hated it! So although [name]Victoria[/name] is nice, [name]Juliette[/name] is nicer and the nn [name]Vicky[/name] is a bit chavvy!

Thanks everyone! Any more thoughts on [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name]? Suggestions for the middle name for [name]Juliette[/name]? DH says he prefers [name]Victoria[/name]…but I just can’t commit yet based on the nn vicky…

If this helps any my boys are [name]Lino[/name] (pronounced leeno it is a family name) and [name]Lucas[/name]. Any other suggestions for our little princess? Thank you!

I prefer [name]Victoria[/name] (even though they are both pretty). I totally understand the fear of the nickname. It really will come down to what she wants to be called. I prefer my full, longer name. While some people automatically shorten it, most of the time they will ask. [name]Victoria[/name] is a longer name I suppose, but, a lot of girls go by [name]Elizabeth[/name] which contains the same amount of syllables.

I had a friend who went by [name]Tori[/name] with her friends and her parents called her [name]Victoria[/name]. Everyone was relatively happy with this arrangement

Mn’s for [name]Juliette[/name]… gotta say I love [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]! or, just some ideas-
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Maren[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Alice[/name]

[name]Love[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]! No one ever spells it this way, but it’s my favorite.
I have know many a [name]Victoria[/name] and not one could get away from [name]Vicky[/name] or sicky [name]Vicky[/name]. There’s just no way around it.
I have

[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Adele[/name]

On a list for my little bros future daughter but he’s too hardheaded LOL
[name]Feel[/name] free to use it if you like. Also,

[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Thisbe[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] Perengrine
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Leland[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Bellamy[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] Anuli
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Amira[/name]

I love both! I slightly prefer [name]Victoria[/name] as FN but I love them both!! I think it depends on the NN. For [name]Victoria[/name] I cannot stand [name]Vicky[/name], but I think [name]Tori[/name] is stunning. [name]Juliette[/name] has a lot more and prettier NN options. What about [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]? I think both of those are absolutely stunning.

I love [name]Juliette[/name] but am partial…this will be our little girl’s first name, due next month! I myself am struggling with middle names, but I agree with everyone else who said that [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] is lovely. I prefer the spelling to [name]Juliet[/name] also. We will be using [name]Jules[/name]/[name]Jewel[/name] for a NN since we don’t care for [name]Julie[/name]

I like both [name]Juliette[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] and think either [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Juliette[/name] are great combinations. In terms of a nn, if you don’t use one, she’ll always be [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name] in the family and you can never say what friends or she herself will use as she grows up, is out in the professional world, etc. Lots of times school friends (or even siblings) give you nicknames that have nothing or little to do with your actual name anyway!

Thanks everyone! Seems like it is pretty split! Any more votes for [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Juliette[/name]? Not to make this trickier but my 3rd choice is [name]Catherina[/name]? Was thinking

[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Catherina[/name] [name]Isabella[/name]

Thoughts please! Thank you!

[name]Juliet[/name] is a standout name with the prettiest sound, it is eternally feminine and charming. I would call her [name]Juliet[/name].

[name]Victoria[/name] is a substantial name and I feel better in your case as the middle name, and don’t you think that [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] is beautiful?

rollo

I choose [name]Juliette[/name] (I prefer [name]Juliet[/name]) over [name]Victoria[/name]!
But why not use [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] as a combination? It’s quite regal and feminine.

[name]Victoria[/name] is very pretty! I’ve always thought [name]Vicky[/name] was an unfortunate nn, in my opinion [name]Rory[/name] is much cuter. She definitely doesn’t have to have a nickname in the professional world later in life or from her teachers at school. I’m sure that whatever nn you impart to her with affection in her younger years will at least stick with her with her family. And if she doesn’t like it, she will find one she does! But don’t not pick [name]Victoria[/name] simply because of [name]Vicky[/name]. If she makes it clear she doesn’t go by [name]Vicky[/name], then no one will call her that!

Definitely [name]Juliette[/name]!!!

Thank you everyone! Still stumped here so more advice would be welcomed! [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Juliette[/name] or [name]Caterina[/name]? Could you Put them in order of preferance and what kind of girl/woman do you imagine? And I am going to try to avoid nn…hope it will be possible because vicky kills me! Thank you!
