Again, if you are unable to budge either way for your top choices, compromising with a new choice might be something to consider. Somewhere between unusual/classic and trendy (seems like he likes gender bending/unisex for girls too) is what I’ll be shooting for:

That’s tough. I love [name]Imogen[/name], but feel it’s a bit close to Emmersyn (especially if she goes by [name]Emmy[/name]… [name]Imogen[/name] is likely to get [name]Immy[/name]). [name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name] seem like reasonable suggestion. He’s going to need to meet you halfway with a decent spelling and at least a recognizably feminine name. These are just some names from the top of the head that maybe neither of you will hate? It sounds like it’s going to be tough to find something you equally love, so maybe it’s finding a long name that one of you likes more, and nn that the other is happy with? Maybe you could convince him that he could call [name]Juniper[/name] “[name]Juno[/name]”. Could sweeten the deal for him.

So obviously your partner has a thing for ‘tom-boy’ names. So I’d compromise go with an elegant feminine name that fits your style but has a masculine twist or a masculine sound. Like [name]Samantha[/name] with the nickname ‘[name]Sam[/name]’.
Or maybe go for more feminine unisex names…

[name]Lori[/name] has amazing suggestions, and [name]Tara[/name]'s nicknames for them are all good. As [name]Zenobia[/name] is on my girl list I’ll add the nicknames I’m thinking of; Zoo, ZeZe and Bia (the last two are suggestions from the wonderful dindlee).
