Please help- bub is here and no name!

Halliday- is this a beautiful first name for a girl? Does it sound too much like a last name? I know it is a surname but not an overly common one. Nickname- [name_f]Hallie[/name_f].

I personally don’t like Halliday but love [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] as a name in itself!
Not sure what it is about Halliday. It just doesn’t sound pretty.

I like Halliday. And [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] works well as an appealing nn.

I like it and think it’s pretty and swish. (I was just thinking about the name [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] today.) My only minor hmmm about it is that I can’t say Halliday super easily - it’s a bit tricky to say.

I like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] a lot more than I like Halliday. Halliday is just all surname to me, but [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is an appealing nn for it and grounds it a little.

I think it’s similarity to [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] will be confusing to people. Good luck deciding.

I love [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and think Halliday would work fine as the formal name. If it were my name, I would prefer to go by [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], but your daughter will have two options, and that’s a plus.

I prefer [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] to Halliday, but I think I could warm up to it.

100% agree with this.

My strong and overriding association with Halliday is the [name_m]French[/name_m] singer [name_m]Johnny[/name_m] Hallyday. It’s quite an unusual and distinctive name so I think the same would be true for many, especially Europeans.

I like [name_f]Holiday[/name_f]/[name_f]Holliday[/name_f], or just plain [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]/[name_u]Halley[/name_u]/[name_u]Halle[/name_u], better for this reason.

I like [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], but Halliday is not my favorite.

It’s okay, if you love it definitely use it.

To be honest I prefer just [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]. Halliday would just get mistaken for [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] constantly and if you’re going to use the nickname [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], I would just use that name.

Alternative full names for [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] could be: [name_u]Halcyon[/name_u], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], [name_f]Halina[/name_f]. I actually really like [name_f]Helena[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Hallie[/name_f].

Halliday isn’t bad, though. [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] is very pretty. Congratulations on your new addition!

Maybe you would like Halle as her given name? I think it is closer in sound to the beginning of Halliday.

[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] and Halliday are great! Halliday is definitely usable if you truly love it. coming from a grown up [name_f]Holiday[/name_f], I love having it as my name, and people think it’s so interesting. also, if i don’t feel like ‘explaining’ my name, I can easily use [name_f]Holly[/name_f] - the same would apply to Halliday/[name_f]Hallie[/name_f] I hope!

I think lots would get it confused for [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] as others have mentioned. I also agree with others who say if you love it, you should use it. I think it comes down to whether you would be okay living with Halliday as a name. If you wouldn’t mind handling all of that, I think it’s fine to use. If you think it might have made you resent your name, etc., then possibly think harder about using it. We can’t know what our kids are going to like or dislike, so the best we can do is try to choose something we wouldn’t have minded.

With that said, I don’t mind Halliday at all. I think it’s a little difficult to spell, and it does remind me of Ready Player One character [name_u]James[/name_u] Halliday, but that’s not that major of a reference, and it probably will be pretty obscure when she’s older.

I’m in the rare camp of liking Halliday better than [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]! Over all, I think [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] is nicer.

What about [name_f]Holiday[/name_f] as a name. [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] seems trendy/ dated late '90’s name

I’m not keen on Halliday - [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] however is gorgeous by itself

I’m with everyone voting for [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] as the name! Its got a cool 90’s throwback, but it doesn’t feel ‘dated’.

Halliday is a bit of a mouthful - if you plan on calling her [name_f]Hallie[/name_f] anyway - avoid the confusion!
