Unfortunately my husband isn’t loving [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] as much as I am and he keeps bringing up [name_m]Roger[/name_m] which he feels is much more manly for a boy to grow into.
I’m trying to love [name_m]Roger[/name_m] but am really struggling!
Which would you choose out of [name_m]Roger[/name_m] and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]? For the sake of the poll, let’s pretend my husband Is on board with [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] I’m currently working on trying to persuade him to warm up to the name A poll might just work in my favour. Lol!
P.S. If we were to go with Roger we’d use Alexander as the middle
Between the two I would pick [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]. However, if you’re husband really isn’t a fan I’d nix both and go back to [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]. I know your two big things with that name was not like the nn [name_m]Al[/name_m] and the spelling. Not sure if this spelling/ slight change helps but I used to teach a little boy with the name Allister. I only ever called him Allister but know he also went by [name_u]Ali[/name_u] at home. So maybe between now and then can brainstorm some nicknames.
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m] is a fantastic name! I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] together. [name_m]Roger[/name_m] is a great name, but I think I prefer to see it as a middle name. When I see [name_m]Roger[/name_m], my first thought is always [name_m]Captain[/name_m] [name_u]America[/name_u] (I’m not sure if you like that association).
All the names you have been considering are very handsome, strong and masculine.
I also noticed that the first three votes on this poll disappeared… @katinka, I’m so sorry for bothering you, but can you check this out? I think it is related to the links. Thank you!
Thank you again for kindly responding! And thank you for being so observant and noticing that the first three votes have been lost. I wouldn’t have had any idea about this unless you’d spotted it
I’m so very grateful for your honest and thoughtful advice
Thanks so much Unfortunately I have a negative association with the surname Lister so I’m afraid the spelling Allister is off the cards, but thank you for kindly sharing your suggestions!
[name_m]Roger[/name_m] has old man vibes. Also, sorry if TMI, but I’m pretty sure it’s British / Australian slang for a p€n!s and/or s€x, which my brain can’t get past.
Hehe - please don’t apologise! I’m actually really glad you’ve brought this up as I worry about this association too and was wondering if anyone else had heard of it The slang meaning isn’t heard much here but it’s still pretty common knowledge I think
Haha all good - just didn’t want to cause a shock lol Given you’re aware of the association, I don’t think I’d use it. Ignorance is bliss as they say, but using a name when you know it has a sexual connotation could come off as bit odd on your part. I personally wouldn’t anyway.
I wouldn’t call it weak. I don’t think it’s “macho”, but it’s not exactly soppy. I think [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] sounds like teddy bear cuddles and golden honey drizzled on toast… a little boy who loves books, pjs, and being cheeky… it’s warm, resilient, and strong.
I did a google search on [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] because it sounded like a cartoon character I vaguely heard if once… there’s a [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] which I feel Looking at the picture backs what was mentioned above about it not being one who is all macho but not necessarily weak. I will say tho my association with “[name_m]Roger[/name_m]” Is Mr. [name_m]Roger[/name_m]’s or even [name_m]Roger[/name_m] Rabbit and neither scream Macho to me either. No disrespect to Mr. [name_m]Rogers[/name_m].
OMG, I love the way you’ve described these associations to the name [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]!! Thank you so much for sharing these divine images. So, so sweet
