I’m looking to change my name since the one my parents gave me comes off too feminine to really fit me anymore, since I’m kind of thinking I’m probably not a girl a lot of the time. Like I [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t Know What The H*ll I Am, But Occasionally I’m A Girl And Occasionally I’m A [name_m]Guy[/name_m] But Most Of The Time I’m Nothing Really and I’d kind of prefer to have a name that reflects that. I have a whole list and most of it is like just not quite exactly right. Like it’s close, but just. Not just there yet. Rn it’s:
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m] (too masculine)
Ellory (too close to my friend’s name)
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] (too modern/trendy sounding)
[name_u]Mattie[/name_u] (sounds like a nickname but I don’t know what for)
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] (tbh I don’t even know why I don’t want it)
[name_u]Aiden[/name_u] (It just doesn’t fit me)
[name_m]Milo[/name_m] (^^^)
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] (Twilight)
[name_m]Theory[/name_m] (It’s a word)
I can’t ask anyone irl for help right now but if any of y’all can help I like names with like historical/book references? Thanks in advance if anyone can.
[name_f]Bronte[/name_f] was the first thing I thought of.
I don’t think [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] needs a full name! It sounds a little nickname-y but it doesn’t have to be if you really like it. I also wasn’t very creative and couldn’t find anything besides [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], which may be a bit too masculine for you.
I would definitely go for a “gender neutral” name.
What about [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]? Or even [name_u]Everest[/name_u].
I also like [name_u]Skyler[/name_u], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Blake[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. Maybe look up gender neutral names and go from there.
Fungusamongus gave you a great list, so I’ll just add [name_u]Austen[/name_u]—[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] spelling for a touch of femininity while it sounds like the traditionally male [name_m]Austin[/name_m]. It’s a guilty pleasure name of mine.
