[name]Xantha[/name]- itā€™s an interesting nameā€¦ Iā€™m not much of an X-name girl myself, to be honest. I prefer [name]Xenia[/name]- still spunky and interesting but a littleā€¦ tamer. But I love [name]Evangeline[/name]- I think itā€™s beautiful and sweet. Is it a name youā€™re opposed to using as an FN?

[name]Violette[/name]- this is my favourite, although I much prefer the [name]Violet[/name] spelling. I love the simplicity of it as opposed to the frilly [name]Violette[/name]. And I love the [name]Violet[/name] [name]Jane[/name] combination- I think itā€™s the perfect mix of trendy and classic. I do think that [name]Eloise[/name] is a little old-fashioned.

[name]Vesper[/name]- to be totally honest, this name reminds me of vipers. It just seems like a rather mean name to me! I do like [name]Anna[/name], and while [name]Linnea[/name] is a name Iā€™ve never heard before, I think itā€™s an interesting and sweet name.

And I love the name [name]Esme[/name]. Itā€™s a hidden gem, in my opinion. I think itā€™s sweet, happy, fresh, rare and both ageless and timeless. What about [name]Esme[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Esme[/name] [name]Anna[/name] [name]Jane[/name]?

I feel like Iā€™ve said ā€œinterestingā€ and ā€œsweetā€ a lot, but I hope this helps!

Iā€™m sorry I donā€™t like any but [name]Violette[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Elouise[/name]. GL

I dont like [name]Violette[/name]. Reminds me too much of Violent, even though [name]Violet[/name] doesnā€™t. I think itā€™s because the ette changes the emphasis on the pronounciation.

[name]Vesper[/name] Iā€™m also not too keen on the sound of. It sounds almost too short, like it should be Vespertine.

[name]Xantha[/name] I really like, and agree that this version will make it easier for people to pronounce, without losing any of the lovliness of the original [name]Xanthe[/name]. I also agree that this is attractive because it sounds slightly exotic.

I like [name]Xantha[/name] but prefer [name]Xanthe[/name]. I feel [name]Xanthe[/name] would be individual yet have the capacity to blend socially with similar sounding name endings such as [name]Emily[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Chloe[/name] and the like. Which make it a great blend of unusual yet acceptable.
If you like X names another I love is Xylia.
[name]Violette[/name] is pretty.
[name]Vesper[/name]ā€¦ hmmm a motorbike.

[name]Xantha[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is really pretty. Iā€™m just not sure I would ever have the guts to use such a bold choice. But if I were to come across a [name]Xantha[/name], Iā€™d find it really cool.
I like [name]Violette[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eloise[/name], but I prefer it as [name]Violette[/name] [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. I think it flows better that way. Either way is pretty though.
[name]Vesper[/name] [name]Anna[/name] [name]Linnea[/name]. Iā€™m not a fan of [name]Vesper[/name]. And opinions aside, this name does not flow as well as your other options.

as a gluten free person as soon as I saw [name]Xantha[/name] I thought of Xantham Gum which is an ingredient in a lot of foodsā€¦lol.

but [name]Vesper[/name] was really neat but I did think of a vespa - but I still like it because itā€™s something different.

I am over [name]Violet[/name]- as soon as a celebrity uses it I am over it. and that spelling is unnecessary imo. I think that with such unusual choices for the other ones using [name]Violet[/name] is sort of a phone in does that make sense?

[name]Xantha[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

  • donā€™t like any of them. I also think of Xantham gum for [name]Xantha[/name]. [name]Evangeline[/name] is too trendy and [name]Rose[/name] are too common

[name]Violette[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]

  • I prefer [name]Violet[/name]. I donā€™t mind the ā€œviolentā€ sound of [name]Violette[/name] but I love [name]Violetta[/name] ā€œvee-oh-let-uhā€ and the nn [name]Etta[/name]. I think [name]Violetta[/name], [name]Viola[/name], or [name]Yolanda[/name] flow better with [name]Jane[/name] [name]Eloise[/name]

[name]Vesper[/name] [name]Anna[/name] [name]Linnea[/name]

  • love [name]Vesper[/name]. [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Linnea[/name] or [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Anne[/name] flow better

My favorites are [name]Vesper[/name] and [name]Ophelia[/name]

[name]Xantha[/name]- Im not a fan of this nameā€¦I think it sounds like itā€™s trying to be cool but itā€™s notā€¦

[name]Violette[/name]-I perfer [name]Violet[/name] by a mile. I think the ā€˜etteā€™ ending just makes it look like youā€™re trying to make it fancy(which I know youā€™re not) The ending looks a little akward to me.

[name]Vesper[/name]-Not liking this ar allā€¦

My favorite by far is [name]Violette[/name].

Thank you! Itā€™s great to get these opinions. reeljabkb and nat108 thanks for letting me know about Xantham gum - gluten-free ingredients are certainly becoming more mainstream.
nat108, I do like [name]Violetta[/name], but my husband thinks it is too over the top.
Also, reeljabkb, I totally understand what you mean about [name]Violet[/name]/[name]Violette[/name] being maybe too safe of a choice compared to my other options. I keep teetering back and forth between being daring/interesting yet possibly causing my child some grief with being constantly asked ā€œ[name]How[/name] do you spell that? What did you say your name was?ā€ and then on the other hand giving her/him a solid, fairly usual name choice that no one will really question, however they may wish, as I did growing up, for something a little more individual. kasey1010, my original combo actually was [name]Violette[/name] [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Jane[/name], but I had a last minute change of mind before I put the poll up, thinking too hard about the syllable flow I guess.
bluejuniper, thank you for pointing out, as others have confirmed, that you get more of a ā€˜violentā€™ impression from the spelling [name]Violette[/name]. Very interesting to consider, as you would logically think the further the spelling is from ā€˜violentā€™, the less that would leave an impression of that word, as you said though, it is likely the emphasis on the end of the name.
erinlw, I agree [name]Esme[/name] is a beauty - is it too wrapped up in the twilight franchise now?
Thanks all, I appreciate your comments!

Voted for [name]Vesper[/name] because it was my favorite fn from your list. I like [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] combo wise

I voted for [name]Xantha[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name], but I definitely prefer [name]Xanthe[/name]. [name]Violette[/name] sounds too fruffy for me and [name]Vesper[/name] is not my style. But I like your mns and I like that you are looking for somewhat unique names. What about [name]Ianthe[/name] instead of [name]Xantha[/name]? I think it sounds better. I also really like [name]Ophelia[/name] and [name]Esme[/name] from the rest of your list. If you arenā€™t too keen on [name]Esme[/name] alone, it could be a nn for Esmeraude.

[name]How[/name] about [name]Xanthe[/name] [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? (I prefer [name]Xanthe[/name] to [name]Xantha[/name]).
[name]Violette[/name] seems like a bit much; I would just use [name]Violet[/name], unless you are spelling it [name]Violette[/name] because you want the accent on the final syllable.
[name]Evangeline[/name] is pretty religious for my taste.
[name]Vesper[/name] is definitely out of the ordinary; itā€™s kind of cool, but might be tough to pull off. It just doesnā€™t sound like a name. It reminds me very strongly of [name]James[/name] [name]Bond[/name] and Casino [name]Royale[/name].
[name]Linnea[/name] is fabulous - it has a great sound and makes me think of [name]Carolus[/name] Linnaeus.
[name]Rose[/name] is a beautiful classic; [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] are also nice.

Thanks for that great list davisellu! You actually hit a number of my favourites which I havenā€™t had much luck getting my husband to be on board with: [name]Ianthe[/name], [name]Octavia[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Thalia[/name], [name]Reverie[/name] (I just love the nickname Revie!) and [name]Isolde[/name] (which he didnā€™t seem to mind as much, so there could be some wiggle room with this one.)
[name]Evening[/name] is an interesting choice to ponder and one that I havenā€™t come across before, and [name]Blythe[/name] is nice.
holey, to tell the truth, my first inclination was to pair [name]Xanthe[/name]/[name]Xantha[/name] with [name]Linnea[/name], however no girl wants the initials XL in her name!
Ok, so I think you have all convinced me that [name]Violet[/name] is a better spelling choice, however as far as [name]Xantha[/name] goes, while we love [name]Xanthe[/name] just as much the spelling is not as intuitive for people trying to sound it out and that still makes us a little wary.
lori johnson, I havenā€™t really considered [name]Xanthe[/name] [name]Violette[/name] together simply for the fact that one means yellow and the other purple and I thought they might work better as a sibset theme (although, yes I know, other than color-meaning and being two names we happen to like, they have absolutely nothing in common!)
redtulips - [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] does sound nice!

I was really looking forward to the naming process prior to actually being pregnant but now there is just so much pressure to find the perfect name that I am finding it daunting to be honest. Once again, I appreciate all your help! I need it!

I love [name]Violette[/name] [name]Jane[/name], so beautiful!
