Please Help Me Change My Name!

[name]Hi[/name] there fellow name nerds… [name]Long[/name] time lurker here.

I was hoping some of you could help me brainstorm a new name. My name is [name]Acacia[/name] and I HATE it. HATEHATEHATEHATEHATE it. I always have. My parents didnt pronounce it correctly (uh-KAAH-see-uh vs. uh-kay-shuh although Im not fond of the correct way either…) and I finally have an opportunity to do something about it: my family and I are relocating to a different state at the end of the summer far far far away from anyone we’ve ever known. My husband doesnt really understand it (although he has a super “normal” name) but is supportive, so Im all set. Now comes the hard part: what to change it to.

So heres what I need my new name to be: It has to (at least semi) go with our very-italian-with-lots-of-double-consonants surname. And if possible, I would really love it to be related to “[name]Acacia[/name]” in some way- almost like a nickname. …Im not 100% certain I want to legally change my first name right away so if the two were related it might make things easier to explain to future employers. (I also dont have a middle name I could roll with as mine is sort of a collection of letters thrown together and phonetically unrecognizable ie. Jzupitali pronounced [name]Jolie[/name])

…And just so you can get a feel for the kind of names that might “fit” me- I have a degree in art, am EXTREMELY creative and artsy (and a little bit weird), teach preschool, and pride myself on being super cheerful and friendly.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks so much berries!!

[name]Do[/name] you have any names you are considering? What about your middle name or some variation of it? Or another nature-related name? It’s hard to just come up with names without any feel for the type of names you like.

My first thought was [name]Caci[/name]/[name]Casie[/name]…or some variation since it is in [name]Acacia[/name]. Or maybe [name]Cassandra[/name] or [name]Cassie[/name].

My first thought was [name]Cassia[/name]. It’s warm, creative, friendly, and so similar to how your [name]Acacia[/name] is pronounced.

I’d second [name]Cassia[/name], but I prefer it pronounced as [name]Cass[/name]-ee-uh, however I’m aware of the cash-uh way.

Or perhaps something light and fun (and Italian) like [name]Aria[/name].

Because [name]Acacia[/name] means thorny… I like [name]Briar[/name]. Or Thistle. [name]Even[/name] [name]Thorn[/name] if your last name is long and complicated. Okay that’s my artsy attempt. As far as a sound alike name I know someone named Amarna and she is a beautiful person… inside and out. [name]Hope[/name] that helps!

I didn’t like my own name too so I changed it. I feel for you, really.
I love the suggestion of [name]Cassia[/name] and these are some names that came to mind while reading your post:
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Sophronia[/name]
[name]Circe[/name]
[name]Agnessa[/name]
[name]Zinaida[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name](or even [name]Cornelia[/name]:))
[name]Gwyneth[/name]
[name]Cosima[/name]
[name]Auria[/name]
[name]Adelheid[/name]
[name]Rosamund[/name]
[name]Eulalia[/name]
[name]Talitha[/name]
Endellientha
[name]Celestine[/name]
These just popped into my head and if think of some related to [name]Acacia[/name]…[name]Aquila[/name]/Aqulina, [name]Anastacia[/name], [name]Cecelia[/name], [name]Celia[/name], [name]Cadence[/name]… And I think you can create a special nickname: [name]CeCe[/name], Acia(ay-shuh), [name]Casey[/name], [name]Kasia[/name], Ai and so on.

[name]Cassia[/name] came to mind for me too… Similar to [name]Acacia[/name] that you would not need to change your name legally at all…but it does sound earthy yet a little offbeat and artsy and gas a very different feel to [name]Acacia[/name]! Another option is [name]Saskia[/name] which again similar sounds yet has a very different vibe!!! Or just introduce yourself by a spunky nickname Cici/[name]Cash[/name]/[name]Ace[/name]/A.J (initials of first and middle!)

I also love the suggestion of [name]Anastasia[/name]!

My first thoughts were [name]Acadia[/name] or [name]Arcadia[/name], but they aren’t related to [name]Acacia[/name] in any way other than the similar appearance. It’s not a far cry, though. Good luck!

The acacia plant is a symbol of resurrection, so maybe [name]Anastasia[/name] (already suggested), [name]Renata[/name] (lovely Italian name), [name]Renee[/name]

[name]Easter[/name] names could also work: [name]Pascale[/name], [name]Pascaline[/name], [name]Ash[/name], [name]Tamar[/name], [name]Talitha[/name] (not exactly [name]Easter[/name], but a Biblical resurrection

I saw [name]Cassia[/name] and [name]Casey[/name] were suggested so what about: [name]Kasiani[/name], [name]Cassiane[/name], [name]Keziah[/name] (nn [name]Kizzy[/name]), [name]Aurora[/name]
