I’m considering [name]Anna[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Jane[/name], [name]Yael[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Gray[/name], or [name]Catherine[/name], or [name]Caroline[/name] with the last name Alaberkyan. Please help me make a final decision.
I love [name]Gray[/name]! I’m sorry but the other names are really boring to me.
I love [name]Gray[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name]
I like [name]Anna[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], and [name]Catherine[/name] (though I prefer the K spelling). With your last name, I’d go with [name]Anna[/name] because it’s shorter.
I am assuming you are Armenian, which makes it surprising to find the modern secular Hebrew name [name]Yael[/name] on your list?
I agree with [name]Lori[/name], two syllables would be the maximum for a complex surname. I would also avoid a name like [name]Anna[/name], which ends with the same -ah sound your surname starts with (when said quickly, this can sound like a stutter!)
I think only [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] are workable from your original list. But since you suggested the modern trendy color name [name]Gray[/name], what about:
[name]Blair[/name]
[name]Bree[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] (love!)
[name]Elle[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Faith[/name]
[name]Gwen[/name]
[name]Hope[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Joss[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]
[name]Laine[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
[name]Lise[/name] (love)
[name]May[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Wynne[/name]
Or a soft two-syllable name
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Colette[/name]
[name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Carys[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Christine[/name]
[name]Elaine[/name]
[name]Gisele[/name]
[name]Helene[/name]
[name]Joelle[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Macy[/name]
[name]Maxine[/name]
[name]Marni[/name]
[name]Peri[/name]
[name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Simone[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Yasmeen[/name]
[name]Yvonne[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Zara[/name]
Any of these your style?
I’m also considering [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Keziah[/name], Zannah, [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Hester[/name] (or [name]Esther[/name]), [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Magdalene[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Sara[/name] (Sah-ra), [name]Talitha[/name], or [name]Portia[/name].
The girly will be of Armenian, Jewish, and Chinese descent. I’d greatly appreciate any suggestions, preferably unusual yet traditional names. I adore colonial and historical names.
What do you think of [name]Jude[/name]?
You mention colonial names. What about…
[name]Susannah[/name] (you have Zannah—I think that would be a cute nn for [name]Susannah[/name])- You also have [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name], these are all similar
[name]Abigail[/name]
[name]Rebekah[/name] (I know it’s on the list you posted, but I like it with a ‘k’ – I think it gives it spunk.)
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Mercy[/name]
I like [name]Esther[/name] and [name]Keziah[/name] from your list too. While I like [name]Sophia[/name], it is uber popular.
Were you thinking [name]Jude[/name] for a girl? Not a fan of that, really… but it’s a cool name for a boy.
[name]Betsy[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Bess[/name]
[name]Miriam[/name]
[name]Eleanore[/name]
[name]Honor[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]
[name]Amity[/name]
[name]Verity[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Lisbeth[/name]
[name]Gray[/name] is my favourite- with a surname like yours I think it’d be best to go with a short and sweet name. I also like the suggestions of [name]Jane[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Eve[/name].
[name]Yael[/name] is one of my favorite girls names. So pretty. I also love [name]Keziah[/name], [name]Esther[/name], Zannah and [name]Hannah[/name] from your list.
Have you thought about:
[name]Agatha[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Zetta[/name]
[name]Tullia[/name]
[name]Zosia[/name]
[name]Heloise[/name]
[name]Maelys[/name]
Maell
[name]Elka[/name]
Good luck!
Armenian, Jewish and Chinese is quite a heritage! Very cool…
I still think such a long and complex surname requires a simpler, at-most-2-syllables first name.
[name]Do[/name] you like any of the sweet sunny modern Hebrew names? [name]Yael[/name] might be tough, but Lior, [name]Orly[/name], [name]Ayla[/name], [name]Bar[/name], [name]Hava[/name], [name]Keren[/name], Liat, [name]Maya[/name],
[name]Nava[/name], [name]Nissa[/name]… All might work.
Instead of [name]Keziah[/name], what about [name]Cassia[/name]? That’s commonly pronounced with just two syllables, is very feminine, but straddles the line between antique and modern.
Going off the more antique style you find yourself drawn to–
[name]Zillah[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name] will work quite well…
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Molly[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] goes best with your name.
[name]Anna[/name] - like
[name]Hannah[/name] - like
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] -dislike
[name]Yael[/name] - dislike
[name]Elizabeth[/name] - like
[name]Gray[/name] - dislike
[name]Catherine[/name] - dislike
[name]Caroline[/name] - like
With your last name, I would go with a conventional first name that will have no spelling or pronunciation issues. My very favorite idea given by a previous poster is [name]Eve[/name] Alaberkyan. Of the names you are considering, I recommend them in this order of preference:
[name]Anna[/name] Alaberkyan
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (or just [name]Jane[/name]) Alaberkyan
[name]Elizabeth[/name] Alaberkyan
[name]Catherine[/name] Alaberkyan
[name]Caroline[/name] Alaberkyan
With your last name, I would not go with [name]Gray[/name] or [name]Yael[/name] for the first name.
I agree with the post above-- with your last name, I would pick something pretty recognizable by most English speakers. I like the idea of [name]Eve[/name] best too-- followed by [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]. While I like [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Jane[/name], the As and AN sounds make them a little tricky to pronounce.
