We still can’t decide on the best “M” middle name for [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. I am due in [name_f]May[/name_f]. The middle name is to honor my husband’s grandmother, [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. She also went by [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] if anyone can work with that for another idea/inspiration! [name_f]Esme[/name_f] is after my nana, [name_f]Esther[/name_f].
I don’t know if it’s your style, but [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Makayla[/name_f] / [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] is a very direct way to honour ‘[name_u]Mickey[/name_u]’!
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a beautiful choice. I am also in love with the combination [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marina[/name_f]!
My personal choice would be [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Martina[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marsali[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] because I feel like the other choices the M’s run into each other a bit. Needs to be a punchy M middle name.
Of the current options I like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_u]Marion[/name_u] the most, I voted for [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] because I like the cadence of the combination slightly more, but both are great choices.
I think picking an M name may be proving tricky due to the second half of the first name sounding like may. Maybe a name that contains [name_f]Mar[/name_f] but doesn’t start with M will sound better to your ear?
[name_u]Or[/name_u] a name that shares a lot of sounds with [name_u]Marion[/name_u] like:
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Taryn[/name_f]
Marion is a beautiful name well due a comeback, and since that was her actual name, it definitely feels like the most direct honour.
I also really like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] (you could also do [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marcheline[/name_f])
I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]! Someone suggested [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marina[/name_f], I like that one too! For other MAR- names, there’s [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f], [name_f]Marilla[/name_f], [name_f]Marcia[/name_f].
[name_u]Marion[/name_u] gets my vote as I feel it looks and sounds the best. Plus it being a direct honor scores big points imho.
I would say [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] would be my other suggestion. That or maybe consider swapping the placement of the two honors. Instead of [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] aim for [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] so you could then use [name_f]Maribelle[/name_f] as the fn (since I know you like the bell connection) and find a E name to suit the middle (although I think Esther or Esme could work in that instance)
I also LOVE [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Michalina[/name_f]/Michelina (mee-keh-LEE-nah).
I like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marina[/name_f]! [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is lovely too, just undecided on how it would age.
I love [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], and might I suggest [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Mickey[/name_u]? I think that would be really cute
My husband really doesn’t like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. He feels [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is too trendy. He really wants to do [name_u]Marion[/name_u] to honor his grandmother, and I get it. I didn’t want to steer far from my grandmother’s name, [name_f]Esther[/name_f], either. The only thing remains is that I really wanted a name with an “L” sound in it. If I didn’t feel the obligation to honor our grandmothers, favorite names include [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Eliora[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (although too popular for my taste now), [name_f]Lily[/name_f], etc etc- very feminine names with a definite “L” sound. I’d I added a second middle name, that I know she’d likely never use, but just to appease me, would that be ridiculous?
Other than [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], I can only come up with [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] or [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. What are your thoughts?
Have you considered making [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] / [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] a double middle and then picking a completely unrelated name that you both like for the first. For example [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] could work. It really feels like you’re stuck between having a name you love and what you feel obligated to.
Or maybe instead of Esme… there’s Elsie.
And just throwing it out there as a means of input I didn’t vote for any of the above because imho I personally liked the other combos you’ve put out better.
Sorry I’m back because Inwas looking at your list of names you like and something popped out. [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Assume [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is spelled [name_f]Violette[/name_f]. The ette stuck out. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is considered a common nickname for [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. So maybe instead of [name_f]Esme[/name_f] you pick a name ending in etta… this could also give you your feminine name with an l sound:
[name_f]Julietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Violetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Starletta[/name_f] (I liked this as [name_f]Esther[/name_f] means [name_f]Star[/name_f])
[name_f]Scarletta[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicoletta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lynetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Luetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elletta[/name_f]
[name_f]Coletta[/name_f]
Just an idea that I noticed that I thought Id share in case you hadn’t considered it yet. I apologize for posting if you have!
So creative and I’m so appreciative of the suggestions!!! The name has to start with an E. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom would be devastated if it didn’t. We’re Jewish and it’s common practice to name babies after deceased family members, and using the same initial is the bare minimum it seems. [name_m]Just[/name_m] custom. Such a great idea though!!!
