Please help me find a first name to go with mn Elise

[name]Hi[/name] Everyone,

We are expecting our 2nd daughter in Sept. and, while we’ve already decided on a middle name ([name]Elise[/name], to honor a favorite aunt) we cannot come up with a first name that we can both agree on. We can definitely can agree what we don’t want, though: Nothing unisex, trendy, in the top 10 (even better if its out of the top 20, as our last name is incredibly common), and something that matches big sister [name]Mia[/name]'s name (popular now, but she’s 10 and it wasn’t nearly as popular back then). If we could avoid names that lend themselves to nicknames, that would be great, but that’s not a dealbreaker. We do have 3 on our ‘maybe’ list ([name]Cara[/name], [name]Brooke[/name] & [name]Jocelyn[/name], to maybe give you a better idea of what we’re looking for), but I’m not sure if any of those 3 are THE [name]ONE[/name] and I’d really like to have another couple of options to take into the delivery room with me.

So, its kind of a fussy, tall order, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated b/c I’ve gotten to the point where I feel like I’m reading the same names over and over and over again when I search the internet or pour through books.

Thanks so much!!

[name]Brooke[/name] [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Elise[/name] are nice. I’d avoid names with two syllables, gives an awkward rhythm. [name]How[/name] about:
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Leonie[/name]

When I saw this thread, the first name I thought of was [name]Ruby[/name]! [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Elise[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like it?

[name]Mia[/name] and [name]Brooke[/name] is sooooooo cute together!

From your options, I like [name]Cara[/name] [name]Elise[/name] best.

What about:

[name]June[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Ada[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Elise[/name]

Thank you all so much for the suggestions!! There are several here that I haven’t seen/considered before and I’m happy to finally have something new to discuss with the hubs (while he’s great at shooting down my ideas, he doesn’t ever come up with his own, so our conversations can be a little frustrating!!!). I have to say that, for my own list, [name]Cara[/name] has been my favorite, but my one hang-up with it is pronunciation. We would use Care-uh vs Car-uh, but I’m hesitant to stick her with something that she will spend a lifetime correcting, whereas [name]Jocelyn[/name] & [name]Brooke[/name] are so much more straightforward. My daughter spends a lot of her time correcting people who call her [name]Mya[/name] vs [name]Mia[/name] and it drives her bananas. I’d hate to do that to 2 daughters :/.

[name]Jane[/name] used to be one of my most favorite names…and then I married someone with literally the most common name there is. She likely won’t be stuck with a common last name forever, but its the equivalent of naming her [name]Jane[/name] [name]Doe[/name], it’d be so common, which is a shame b/c I think its so lovely. [name]Ruby[/name] isn’t an option, either, unfortunately b/c the hubs has a grandmother named [name]Ruby[/name] and we don’t want to anchor this little girl to 2 relatives. Everything else is a terrific jumping off point for discussion tonight, though!!!

Thank you

[name]Cara[/name] and [name]Mia[/name] are great together, but I’m not fond of [name]Cara[/name] [name]Elise[/name] as the vowels run together.
[name]Jocelyn[/name] [name]Elise[/name] is a bit hissy, but pretty.

[name]Brooke[/name] [name]Elise[/name] sounds well though. [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Brooke[/name] aren’t bad together.

I really like the suggestion of [name]Claire[/name] [name]Elise[/name], it runs together a bit but not too badly.

[name]Renee[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Paige[/name] [name]Elise[/name]

Thanks [name]Kala[/name]. That was a concern of mine with [name]Jocelyn[/name], too. I think that’s why I’m still searching…they’re all GOOD names, but I can find something wrong with each of them, although, that was true when we were naming our daughter 10 years ago and the second she was born, she looked so much like a [name]Mia[/name], we couldn’t even remember the issues we had with it at the time. It was just her name and that was that. Hopefully this little girl will do me a huge favor and look like one of the names on our list, too! As for [name]Paige[/name] & [name]Renee[/name], they’re both taken up by people in my husband’s family, so they’re out of the running for us. He has an enormous, close-knit family, so this has been the case for a majority of the names we really like. Sigh…

[name]Amy[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Erin[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Bonnie[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Maren[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Summer[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Meadow[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Karen[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Robin[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Juno[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
