Please help me find fresh names!

I’ve had the same shortlist for girls for a long time and I just don’t feel in love with them any more. I’m looking for help either falling back in love with them or finding new ones, so I would welcome any thoughts or feelings on the following names or ideas for new names I might like!

The style I’m going for is unusual but not completely obscure, fresh and unexpected with a bit of spunk.

Current shortlist-

[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]- love but worry it’s a bit harsh and can’t good sibling names (nn’s- [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]- worry it is too ‘frilly’/not ‘strong’ enough (nn’s- [name_f]Lula[/name_f]? [name_f]Della[/name_f]?
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]- same as [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] (nn’s- [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]? [name_f]Zadie[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]- HP connection concerns me (nn’s- [name_f]Marnie[/name_f]? [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- almost feels a little musty? (Nn’s- [name_f]Nina[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]- maybe sounds too much like [name_f]Laura[/name_f] with ‘lie’ on the end (a little ridiculous I know ”) (Nn’s- [name_f]Lula[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]- too harsh?
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]- too nicknamey?

[name_m]New[/name_m] names I’m considering but just not sure-
Posey (feels too much like a nickname?)
Vesper (love but does close family member E$ther rule it out?)

I’ve got the same problem with my boys list but will make a separate thread so it’s not too long!!

[name_f]TIA[/name_f] ”

Edit: I’m also wondering if my taste is changing a bit towards no nicknames (whereas before I loved them) and therefore shorter names?

[name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] ([name_f]Posie[/name_f], [name_f]Posey[/name_f])
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] ([name_f]Hattie[/name_f])
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] ([name_u]Ollie[/name_u])

[name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], and [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] are beautiful names.

I think your list is lovely! I’ve been there though, all of my favorites become stale in my eyes because I’ve liked them for so long.

For the names you’ve given nicknames in the past, I don’t think you necessarily have to use nicknames for them. Would you still want them on your list? [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] very much stands on its own for instance. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is a great new option. Short, substantial and doesn’t need a nickname.

Iskra (means “sparkle” in russian)
Zvezdomira (means “star”+“world”)
[name_f]Astra[/name_f] (means “star”)

Great list! I love [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] and [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] especially.

I love [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] with [name_f]Kia[/name_f] as a nickname

[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]- It’s fine but its a bit edged and I wouldn’t use a nickname.
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]- I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is stronger and less girly.
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]- I really like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], but I like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] and [name_f]Dot[/name_f] best as nicknames. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] has always struck me as sickly-sweet.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]- The character ruins it for me. There are other Shakespearean names I’d rather use.
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]- Thena is a fine nickname [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]- I like it but the nicknames aren’t very appealing.
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]- Prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]- Quite like [name_f]Nina[/name_f].

My faves of your new names:
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] - Pretty
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - love it, love [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] as a nick
[name_f]Posey[/name_f] - I’d use it as a short form for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I’d probably also spell it [name_f]Posy[/name_f].
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] - Like it.
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t think it’s too close to [name_f]Esther[/name_f] except perhaps for a sibling.

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] & [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Yonina[/name_f] (NN [name_f]Nina[/name_f])
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f] (NN [name_u]Billie[/name_u])

I haven’t read through any of the other posts, so sorry for any repeats!

I love your choice of [name_f]Pandora[/name_f].

I somewhat regret naming my cat [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], as I’d love it for a little girl.

I fell in love after reading a book where the main character was [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]. [name_m]Pan[/name_m] is a cute nickname.

I have to say, I love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] from your list

Sorry for any repeats
Best of luck!

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is my favourite name in the entire world. To me it’s not frilly and holds a lot of strength without sounding harsh.
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is the name of my niece, and it’s so lovely. It’s rare but not unheard of, is spunky but holds femininity. It ages perfectly and is gorgeous. We call her Sassy or Sass.

Thank you so much for your replies- I really appreciate such a big amount of thoughtful responses!

I’m still very unsure about which ones from our original list I still see as possible, but from the new suggestions I really like-

At the moment the names on my mind are-

Any thoughts on the vibes these names give?
Thanks again!
