Our baby girl is due in a week and I can not decide on a name. I have learned my lesson and will wait till baby is born and named before mentioning names to my family/friends again. We have a son ([name]Jack[/name]) and a daughter ([name]Nola[/name] [name]Zee[/name]–goes by [name]Nola[/name]/[name]Nola[/name] [name]Zee[/name]) and our last name is a common first name–[name]Becka[/name]. I plan on taking more than one name to the hospital when she is born, but would like some non-biased opinions from strangers on how certain names are received/fit with sibset/sound with last name. Similar name suggestions welcome–trying to avoid names ending in -a.
Middle name will probably be [name]Plum[/name] (family name), but that isn’t set in stone.
atm we have the following:
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Lila[/name] (husband’s contribution, but for me, way too trendy and sing-songy with [name]Nola[/name], but thought i’d mention it)
[name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Becka[/name] are my favorites off the list. [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Plum[/name] probably has the best flow, and the set of [name]Jack[/name], [name]Nola[/name], and [name]Cecily[/name] is ideal!
And, if your children really want to call her Tinkerbelle, then so be it. But, you could always choose a -belle name, such as [name]Mirabelle[/name], so she could be a “Tinkerbelle” of sorts! [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Becka[/name]? Cute!
My favorites from your list would be [name]Sylvie[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name], I think [name]Sylvie[/name] works best in your sibset though [name]Eloise[/name] has a better flow
love [name]Mirabel/name, and it has such a nice meaning. Would have to rethink mn since a [name]Mirabelle[/name] is a type of plum.[/quote]
That it is! Wow, you could “kill two birds with one stone,” or so to speak. I do think that [name]Mirabelle[/name] is classic enough to go with [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Nola[/name], yet it has that slightly unusual feminine twist that [name]Nola[/name] has, too. I personally prefer the [name]Mirabelle[/name] spelling to [name]Mirabel[/name], even though I generally prefer ‘less frilly’ choices ([name]Juliet[/name] to [name]Juliette[/name]). [name]Jack[/name], [name]Nola[/name], and [name]Mirabelle[/name]?
Any other one- or two-syllable family names you might like to use as a middle name? [name]Do[/name] you always use family names as middle names? Otherwise, something like [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Frances[/name] [name]Becka[/name] would be pretty…

atm we have the following:
[name]Coralie[/name] - love
[name]Eloise[/name] - love
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name] - beyond love
[name]Sylvie[/name] - love
[name]Lila[/name] (husband’s contribution, but for me, way too trendy and sing-songy with [name]Nola[/name], but thought i’d mention it)
[name]Mirabelle[/name] is gorgeous, too.
[name]Love[/name] middle name [name]Plum[/name]. So cool that [name]Mirabelle[/name] is a kind of plum.

I don’t HAVE to use a family name, though i do love [name]Plum[/name] at this point. We’ve already honored one of my grandmothers (DD’s [name]Zee[/name] is for [name]Zona[/name], my grandmother was known as [name]Zee[/name]) so I’d hate to leave DH’s grandmother out ([name]Plum[/name]), though I guess technically speaking, since a [name]Mirabelle[/name] is a TYPE of plum…but maybe that’s pushing it.
[name]Cecily[/name] is currently my fav, but my husband is not a fan and swears he will call her [name]Lily[/name] if we go with [name]Cecily[/name], which I guess could be cute.
What a gorgeous selection of names! I love all of them (oh, and please don’t count this as a biased opinion- [name]Cecily[/name] is only my username)! I’d pick [name]Eloise[/name] or [name]Sylvie[/name]; they feel very spunky to me, like [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Nola[/name]!
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Plum[/name] [name]Becka[/name] or [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Plum[/name] [name]Becka[/name]? They both flow wonderfully, in my opinion. However, [name]Sylvie[/name] could be a nickname, like [name]Jack[/name] or [name]Nola[/name], so it works well in that sense. On the other hand, [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Plum[/name] might be better, as [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Plum[/name] might sound like “silver plum”… Probably just me overthinking things, though!
Why don’t you narrow the list a bit more, “meet” your daughter when she arrives, and then pick the name that suits her best?
Like I said, [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Plum[/name] is adorable. Your husband could call her Cece if he doesn’t care for [name]Cecily[/name], or [name]Lily[/name], if he must.
As for Grandma [name]Plum[/name], perhaps you could use her middle or maiden name as a middle name for [name]Mirabelle[/name]? Or, what about a birth month or flower? For instance, if she was born in [name]June[/name], you could use [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]June[/name] to honor her. Or, if she was born in February you could use [name]Violet[/name], for the birth flower, and name her [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Violet[/name]. Or, you could even use a birth stone - if she was born in [name]January[/name], you could use [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Garnet[/name]! I think honoring a relative can be done in many different ways other than merely using a person’s name, personally, and, like you said, [name]Mirabelle[/name] being a type of plum puts you that much closer!
I love [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Plum[/name] from your list. I usually like [name]Eloise[/name] but for some reason I don’t like it as much with [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Nola[/name]. [name]Nola[/name]/[name]Nola[/name] [name]Zee[/name] has too many sharing sounds with [name]Eloise[/name], imo.
thanks for all the input! I mentioned [name]Mirabel/name to my husband and he loves it. I am not usually a fan of the bel/belle names, but the nn [name]Plum[/name] would be so cute when she’s little, and she can always use ‘[name]Mira[/name]’ as a nn later on.
So, i’m pretty sure that at this point we are choosing between:
[name]Mirabel/name not sure on spelling or middle name
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Plum[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Plum[/name]
and, yes,
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Plum[/name] or maybe [name]Lila[/name] [name]Mirabel[/name]? (yes, I know [name]Lila[/name] is so similar to [name]Nola[/name], but i’m really just happy the hubby is showing some interest, so on the list it goes. and it is really pretty as lng as I don’t think about the popularity of it and similar names and the sibset flow. I’m rationalizing again…)
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Plum[/name]! I love it. And I really do think it sounds best with the middle name, your surname, and your other childrens’ names. Good luck!
[name]Hi[/name]! I think [name]Eloise[/name] [name]Plum[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Plum[/name], or [name]Coralie[/name] [name]Plum[/name] are my favourites from your list, and each goes splendidly with [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Nola[/name] in my opinion. [name]Mirabelle[/name] is a nice way to honor grandma [name]Plum[/name], but it’s just not my cup of tea, especially in light of your other options.
It’s so cute that your kids want to call her Tinkerbell - that could be a special little nickname for her. I know a baby whose siblings call her Spot (after the dog) though it has NOTHING to do with her name, and I’ve always thought that was very sweet and special.
