Please help name my daughter

I am expecting my second child. My first child is a boy named [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Hall[/name] with our 2 syllable, 7 letter last name. He goes by the nickname [name]Nate[/name]. My husband and I tend to prefer traditional, not overly popular names that have good nickname potential since nicknames are big in our families. [name]Nathaniel[/name] is too popular under the guidelines I’m using now, but I still love his name, so moderate popularity isn’t a complete deal breaker (and we have yet to meet another [name]Nathaniel[/name] my son’s age). We used a family name for [name]Nate[/name]‘s middle, and we are not as apt to use a family last name as the middle for a girl. [name]Charlotte[/name] was my first choice girls’ name for [name]Nate[/name], but it is much too popular now. We also know many well named little girls, including two Evelyns, an [name]Eloise[/name], an [name]Alexandra[/name], a [name]Lucy[/name], several Sophies/Sophias, three Charlottes, several Catherines, [name]Clare[/name], and a [name]Julia[/name]. I like these names, but don’t want to use them since that would be weird. I had narrowed my choices down to [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Charlotte[/name] would be after my father, [name]Charles[/name], and the popularity doesn’t bother me so much in the mn spot) and [name]Susannah[/name] (after my mother) with middle name unknown. However, I’m not sold on either name. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] with our 2 syllable, 7 letter last name seems too long. I don’t like any of the nicknames of [name]Susannah[/name]. My mother really likes the middle name [name]Grace[/name], which is the name of my husband’s great grandmother, but [name]Grace[/name] is way too popular for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You have a lot of good thoughts. You’re right, the best flow would be 2-3-2 in terms of syllables.

In terms of honoring [name]Charles[/name], would you be interested in [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Carolina[/name], [name]Carlotta[/name] or [name]Charlize[/name]?

Other classic but uncommon names:

[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Celia[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Portia[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Theodora[/name]

You could really put together some ravishing combinations-- [name]Viola[/name] [name]Charlize[/name], [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Carlotta[/name] [name]Helene[/name]…

[name]Grace[/name] is a solid mn option if you feel it’s too popular for the first spot. Otherwise you could try a [name]Grace[/name] inspired name like [name]Graziella[/name] or [name]Gracie[/name] or even [name]Gisele[/name] (nn [name]Gigi[/name] is cute). Or a name similar in style to [name]Eleanor[/name] but shorter… maybe [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]? [name]Elodie[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]? Neither is in the top 100.

Otherwise names with a similar feel to [name]Charlotte[/name]:

[name]Miranda[/name] - has a stately feel, a Shakespearean connection and is outside the top 100. [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is lovely.

[name]Bridget[/name] - has a strong T ending in common with [name]Charlotte[/name] and is familiar without being over popular.

[name]Myfanwy[/name] - This is a Welsh one (prn Muh-VANH-wee). It is a classic, albeit a Welsh one. It looks and sounds lovely and has the adorable nn Miffy.

[name]Madeline[/name]/[name]Madeleine[/name] - This is a stunner imo. Has the same stately, pretty, french vibe as [name]Charlotte[/name] and comes with the nn [name]Maddie[/name]. Would work well with your boys name - [name]Nate[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name]. You could try [name]Madeline[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Madeline[/name] [name]Sue[/name].

[name]Amelie[/name] - Same French connection as [name]Charlotte[/name]. nn [name]Mellie[/name], [name]Milly[/name] or [name]Amy[/name]?

Or

For a spin on [name]Susannah[/name] you could try [name]Hannah[/name]/[name]Hanna[/name] (which is similar to [name]Susannah[/name], but means [name]Grace[/name]). Spelt [name]Hannah[/name] it is fairly popular, less so tho if you go with [name]Hanna[/name] (which imo looks better) or for a related but far more unusual name you could try [name]Hania[/name].

I love [name]Hannah[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] or even [name]Charlie[/name] or [name]Charlene[/name] with [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Hall[/name]. [name]Both[/name] sound traditional but with a twist that make them a little more unusual.

Here are a few suggestions that I hope help you. Finding that perfect name can be frustrating, that’s for sure.

[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] ([name]Alice[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], which is a feminine form of [name]Charles[/name])
[name]Annalie[/name]
[name]Anne[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Ellen[/name]
[name]Frieda[/name]
[name]Hermione[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name]
[name]Justine[/name]
[name]Lucasta[/name]
[name]Maud[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name]
[name]Rosamund[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]

[name]Cassandra[/name] is another that springs to mind. It is classical (Ancient Greek, in fact) and well outside the top 100. Nn options include [name]Cass[/name] and [name]Cassie[/name], [name]Andie[/name], [name]Sandy[/name] etc. It has a nice glamour and formality to it, but is cute and approachable when shortened. [name]Cassandra[/name] [name]Grace[/name] could be nice?

Good luck!!! I hope something is falling into place for you.
