[name]Love[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Louise[/name]! I’m guessing it’s hard to go as French-yet-popular with a boys’ name!
[name]Benjamin[/name] – love it! You could totally go for it! You’re concerned about popularity, though, and I can see what pp meant about being close to [name]Madeleine[/name] in sound (but I don’t think it’s too much). Also, I think a few people, if they see that Biblical name with a typically Jewish last name, will assume he’s being raised Jewish (if that matters to you – people are always assuming something or other!). For varying degrees, this might be true with [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Joshua[/name], and [name]Jacob[/name] too. I mean, these are so popular and familiar and used cross-linguistically, I doubt it will happen much.
[name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], and [name]Samuel[/name] feel best for [name]Madeleine[/name] for me, somehow. [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] seem more timeless than [name]Joshua[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name], and the m in [name]Samuel[/name] ties into [name]Madeleine[/name] without over-matching.
What about [name]Bennett[/name]? Feels French-ish, and ties in with [name]Emmett[/name] and [name]Everett[/name] (I really like [name]Everett[/name]).
Is [name]Raphael[/name] too out there for you? It’s a Hebrew name that caught on more in the traditions of the [name]Romance[/name] countries than in the Anglo-[name]Saxon[/name] ones, so it has a French feeling but is much stronger than a lot of the French boys’ names.
[name]Alexander[/name] is great because with a slight spelling change ([name]Alexandre[/name]) it would be plausibly French, and it has the syllables to keep up with [name]Madeleine[/name]. You can use the English spelling of course : D.
[name]Oliver[/name] is the same deal ([name]Olivier[/name]).
So, [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name] for me. And suggest you consider [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Raphael[/name].
Good luck!
