please help narrow my list and find brother for madeleine!

Our DD is [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Louise[/name] (my last name) (DH Last name)
we use my last name as a second middle name and will for our son as well.

So far only the first name is feeling good to me but here is our list…it would be great to get opinions!
Our family background is: jewish, french, british (DH) and french, polish, irish (me)
The kids’ last name is pretty steroetypically jewish (we are not religious or raising jewish) so we dont want an overly Jewish first name. ok here goes!

[name]Benjamin[/name] (our first choice right now, hesitation is the popularity?)
oliver
emmett
everett (compromise with Dh who doesnt like emmett very much)
harrison (DH likes this much more than I do)
gabriel
daniel
graham
xavier
dashiell
sammuel
joshua
jacob
alexander
callum

we havent even approached middle names yet! lol THANKS

I love your daughter’s name [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Louise[/name] - so classy! Here are my thoughts on your boys list with my faves in bold. Good luck to you!
[name]Benjamin[/name] - This name is a Biblical gem but my hesitation wouldn’t be the popularity but the similar ending with [name]Madeleine[/name].
[name]Oliver[/name] - I love this name and it goes well with [name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name] - Not a fan
[name]Everett[/name] - I like this name much better than [name]Emmett[/name].
[name]Harrison[/name] - OK but I think I prefer something more traditional and classic for [name]Madeleine[/name]'s brother.
[name]Gabriel[/name] - This is my fave sibling name for [name]Madeleine[/name]'s brother.
[name]Daniel[/name] - I like this name but not as much as [name]Gabriel[/name].
[name]Graham[/name] - Too matchy in sound with [name]Madeleine[/name].
[name]Xavier[/name] - [name]Saint[/name]'s name would be a great sibling choice.
[name]Dashiell[/name] - I like this name but I’m not sure if it’s a good “match” with [name]Madeleine[/name].
Sammuel - I’m hoping you meant to type [name]Samuel[/name]. It’s ok but I prefer [name]Gabriel[/name].
[name]Joshua[/name] - Another Biblical name but I feel it’s kind of “dated” and feels “tired” to me.
[name]Jacob[/name] - Classic name that is popular but you really can’t go wrong with a timeless gem like [name]Jacob[/name].
[name]Alexander[/name] - A great sibling for [name]Madeleine[/name].
[name]Callum[/name] - Too similar in sound with [name]Madeleine[/name].
My faves are [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Jacob[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Louise[/name]! I’m guessing it’s hard to go as French-yet-popular with a boys’ name!

[name]Benjamin[/name] – love it! You could totally go for it! You’re concerned about popularity, though, and I can see what pp meant about being close to [name]Madeleine[/name] in sound (but I don’t think it’s too much). Also, I think a few people, if they see that Biblical name with a typically Jewish last name, will assume he’s being raised Jewish (if that matters to you – people are always assuming something or other!). For varying degrees, this might be true with [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Joshua[/name], and [name]Jacob[/name] too. I mean, these are so popular and familiar and used cross-linguistically, I doubt it will happen much.

[name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], and [name]Samuel[/name] feel best for [name]Madeleine[/name] for me, somehow. [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] seem more timeless than [name]Joshua[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name], and the m in [name]Samuel[/name] ties into [name]Madeleine[/name] without over-matching.

What about [name]Bennett[/name]? Feels French-ish, and ties in with [name]Emmett[/name] and [name]Everett[/name] (I really like [name]Everett[/name]).

Is [name]Raphael[/name] too out there for you? It’s a Hebrew name that caught on more in the traditions of the [name]Romance[/name] countries than in the Anglo-[name]Saxon[/name] ones, so it has a French feeling but is much stronger than a lot of the French boys’ names.

[name]Alexander[/name] is great because with a slight spelling change ([name]Alexandre[/name]) it would be plausibly French, and it has the syllables to keep up with [name]Madeleine[/name]. You can use the English spelling of course : D.

[name]Oliver[/name] is the same deal ([name]Olivier[/name]).

So, [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name] for me. And suggest you consider [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Raphael[/name].

Good luck!

Thanks! great feedback…and yes I meant samuel lol. I like [name]Bennett[/name] but Dh shot it down last night! He seems to dislike 80% of my names but all he can come up wiht is daniel and ethan (too popular for me). Any way I digress…
I did think [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Madeleine[/name] were a bit alike sound-wise but I think I can live with it…thansk for the compliments on her name by the way, her middle name is my nana’s name and my mom’s middle name. The only family tie to our current list is a great-great grandfather named [name]Benjamin[/name], and a cousin named samuel. We will possibly find a family member to honor like we did with our daughter, but none of them sound good with anyhting but [name]Oliver[/name]! I am kind of thinking of taking josh and jake off the list, i like the names but nto as much as others…Not sure about raphael though i can see why you suggested it its nice…but a close friends baby name.

thanks!!! will give DH your suggestions tonight

[name]Hi[/name] - before I read your post, [name]Oliver[/name] was the first name to come to my mind, and I see it is on your list! So [name]Oliver[/name] is my #1 pick for you, with [name]Gabriel[/name] coming in second. I also love [name]Benjamin[/name]! I wouldn’t worry about its popularity - [name]Benjamin[/name] is a great boy’s name and goes well with [name]Madeleine[/name]! Also have you thought of [name]Julian[/name]?

If [name]Benjamin[/name] is your favorite, I wouldn’t worry about how popular it is. [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name] would be so cute together.

My favorite on your list is [name]Xavier[/name], love it and I think it goes perfectly with your daughter’s name (which I also love.) [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Graham[/name], or [name]Callum[/name] would be my second choice… although I’m not sure I like the combo of [name]Madeleine[/name] and [name]Callum[/name] together, for some reason. I like the above suggestion of [name]Julian[/name]. I’d also suggest [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Colin[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Xander[/name] or [name]Grant[/name], if any of those appeal to you. I also think [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name] would be lovely.

Well, I have a [name]Madeleine[/name] at home and her brothers are named [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Sebastien[/name]

hmm, I really like the name [name]Everett[/name] (nn’s ever and rett maybe?) I think it’s very cute
