Please help! The name I loved is overused and I can't find another to commit to...

What about [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Isabel[/name] or something? You can still call her [name]Bella[/name]
Or [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Mirabella[/name], [name]Annabella[/name]?

[name]Anabella[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], or just [name]Isabelle[/name]. If I loved the name as much as you sound like you do, I would still use it if I couldnt find another name I loved as much!

I’m a teacher, and I’ve never had doubles of this name. In fact, I think just one, and that was in 2003!
I was really fretting over popular names, but then I realized that doubles in a class seem to be less common than they were when I was growing up. There was always multiples of [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Melissa[/name]/[name]Alyssa[/name] when I was growing up.
But, since I’ve been teaching, I’ve only ever had doubles of [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Julia[/name], and [name]Maya[/name].

Thank you all! Great suggestions!

[name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Annabelle[/name] are on DHs “[name]Don[/name]'t mind” list. I don’t think that I’ll rule [name]Isabella[/name] completely out, though she may become “[name]Isabelle[/name]” instead. My first name was unusual when I was growing up, and I hadn’t seen it used regularly until maybe 10 years ago (I’m 32) so that was nice. Also, people always commented on how beautiful my name was, and I want the same for her

I really appreciate all of your thoughts. And I’ll be reviewing all of the names suggested with DH this week!

[name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Isabel[/name]/[name]Isobel[/name] are very pretty. I love [name]Arabella[/name] though, so unique and exotic yet familiar! [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Rosabella[/name], [name]Sibel[/name], or [name]Isabetta[/name], perhaps? Good luck:)

[name]IMO[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]/[name]Isobel[/name] are much fresher now with the [name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Isabelle[/name] wave. Good luck!

There are so many beautiful bel names!

[name]Meribel[/name] is my favorite
[name]Christabel[/name]
[name]Anabel[/name]
[name]Claribel[/name]
[name]Sabelle[/name]
Rozabel

Perhaps you could use [name]Sybella[/name] or [name]Sabela[/name] rather than [name]Isabella[/name]? They’re both very similar in sound but nowhere near as well known. The one big drawback could be that people might not be familiar with them and might simply mishear them as [name]Isabella[/name].

I really like everything on your list. It’s hard for me to pick favorites. I do especially like the fact that [name]Nora[/name] honors your grandmother, and [name]Anika[/name] is an old favorite of mine that I think seems surprisingly underused.

Someone also already pointed out the idea of [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Isabella[/name], which is an absolutely gorgeous combo.

Suggestions …

[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Elle[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] / [name]Elinor[/name] (You could get [name]Nora[/name] as a nickname from this, although that might get in the way of honoring so it may be a better bet to just use [name]Nora[/name].)
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Bellamy[/name]
[name]Annora[/name]
[name]Eleri[/name]
[name]Eleni[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Mariella[/name]

Have you considered the simple and beautiful on it’s own, [name]Belle[/name]? Otherwise I agree that changing the spelling to the less trendy version–[name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Isobel[/name]–or maybe trying some other [name]Bella[/name] ending names like [name]Arabella[/name] (one of my personal favorites) and [name]Mirabella[/name] which are also beautiful names, may be the best way to avoid the popularity train. The other choice, which I believe has been mentioned, is so put [name]Isabella[/name] in the middle spot.

[name]Arabella[/name]! So cute, not very popular, vowel name, and the nn [name]Bella[/name].
