Please Help to Name Baby #2

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

I’m new to Nameberry and need some help! I’ve joined the site to hopefully get some advice on baby names. I have one daughter named [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] [name_f]Janell[/name_f] . [name_f]Janell[/name_f] was a name sake that we carried on and [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] we absolutely loved. It was one of those names when we both heard it, we instantly knew it was right.

Daughter #2 is due in February, and I'm quite exhausted from my name search. We've decided that [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] will be the middle name of our second baby (also a name sake). However, we are severely struggling at picking a first name. We haven't had that aha moment like we did with [name_f]Ellise[/name_f].

Our first options were [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. We've ruled out [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] because we just don't love it. I've tried but I can't get past the name meanings and origins for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], so we are back to square one.

Although I find the [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], etc. names beautiful, I would like to stay away from something in the top 50ish in popularity. We don't want something crazy and off the wall. We tend to like "softer" names that aren't unheard of, just not extremely high in popularity.

Another difficulty I am facing is my husband has a VERY large family that we are very close with. Between all the cousins and cousins kids, it has me somewhat limited. Some of the names that we like, but are already taken are: [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Cecile[/name_f], [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], Laynie, [name_f]Jolie[/name_f], Masie, [name_u]Allison[/name_u], and a slew of others I've probably mentioned but was then reminded that name was already taken.

By the way, we do like the double L names (doesn't even have to be consecutive). Daughter #1 has double Ls in both names and Daughter #2 will have in her middle name. This is certainly not a requirement, but something we've talked about. Discussed and ruled out for one reason or another: [name_f]Camille[/name_f]/a, [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Brielle[/name_f], [name_f]Holly[/name_f], Julliete, [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_u]Halley[/name_u]/ie, [name_f]Callie[/name_f].

Because their middle names will rhyme, I'm wondering if I should stay away from E names (side node [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] are also ruled out).

Sorry for the lengthy post, but please share any suggestions you might have (assuming there are any left with my long list of requirements :) ). Thank you so much!

I’m wondering about [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] or Fellicity? I think I mentioned it before and hubby didn’t go for it but I don’t think I got a flat refusal. [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] [name_f]Janell[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]?

I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] with [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] [name_f]Janell[/name_f]! A few other ideas:

[name_f]Mariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

[name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] [name_f]Janell[/name_f]?

[name_f]Ilsa[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_u]Devon[/name_u]

I’m a bit of a pattern girl - I like that [name_f]Ellise[/name_f], [name_f]Janell[/name_f] and [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] all have a double ‘L’, and I think it would be fun to continue (but only if you find a name you love).
E.g. [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] [name_f]Janell[/name_f] and her sister…
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Collette[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] (I really like the alliteration in this!)
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f]/[name_f]Gillian[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Phillipa[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Sally[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
Best of luck!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] but my niece is a [name_f]Rose[/name_f] :frowning:

[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is growing on me …[name_f]Ellise[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] has a ring to ?

We also like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but are already in the name list for close friends :(.

I also love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but vetoed by hubby.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is also one we’ve added to considerations.

Keep them coming… thanks everyone!

Diadama Alianore

Diadama was popular a couple centuries ago…has to do w/the jewels in a crown (like a vintage version of the name [name_f]Tiara[/name_f]).

If you like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] but can’t use it, what about [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] would be gorgeous with [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] [name_f]Janell[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]. Good luck

I saw [name_f]Callie[/name_f] was on your can’t use list, but what about [name_f]Calla[/name_f]? [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] sounds lovely.
I also love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] sound like adorable sisters!

Thanks for everyone’s input…this actually helping more than I expected. Hubby likes [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (although I can’t tell if he’s just saying that to appease me) and reconsidering [name_f]Isla[/name_f] which was a favorite of mine early on.

Would it look like we are trying to hard to continue name pattern with Fellicity or Islla …by putting the extra l in there? Honest opinions please.

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Dianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Hillarie[/name_f]/[name_u]Hillary[/name_u]
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauralee[/name_f]
[name_f]Larissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lara[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
Penellope

I don’t like the look of Fellicity or Islla. Islla would likely be mispronounced.

[name_f]Ellise[/name_f] is beautiful! [name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Callista[/name_f]
[name_f]Cathleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Mallory[/name_f]

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] are both great names, but I wouldn’t suggest adding an extra l to them. Although the idea of double ll’s for both sisters is sweet for you… let’s see… sorry for any repeats

Some nice names with one or two l’s

[name_f]Bellerose[/name_f]
[name_f]Collette[/name_f]
Jilllian
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Kelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Celine[/name_f]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

other names I think would sound soft with [name_f]Ellise[/name_f]

[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I think I agree that trying add that second l would be too much. We are not so attached to that pattern to sacrifice the spelling our pronunciation.

I don’t like changing the spelling of names just for the sake of being “unique”. I don’t think people would even notice the double L pattern with Fellicity or Islla with [name_f]Ellise[/name_f], they would just be wondering why the name looked a little funny…
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] are very pretty names, don’t ruin them by adding unnecessary letters.

I wanted to let everyone know we have FINALLY settled on a name. Her name is [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]! Although it is higher in popularity than what I originally planned, it stuck with me when I heard it. Then I remembered it was my great grandmother’s name and we love it! We aren’t altering the spelling to make it match our double L pattern as it is perfect exactly how it is. Thanks for everyone’s input!

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Dalla[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Hazell[/name_f]/[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Joslin[/name_f]
[name_f]Laila[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Roslin[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]

Congrats on choosing a name you love even though [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is super popular its classic and a lovely name and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] looks a lot better then [name_f]Emilly[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]. And [name_f]Emmi[/name_f] and [name_f]Elli[/name_f] how cute

Thank you…and I agree. There were some other variations but with it also being a name sake, we felt it was the right thing to do…to keep the original spelling.
