My husband & I have finally decided on [name]Eleanor[/name], nn [name]Nora[/name] for our baby girl due in [name]October[/name] and I am very excited for her to have a name. But now we need help deciding on a middle. Our last name is two syllables, so ideally, I would like for her to have a one syllable middle name. My husband prefers that it be a honor name, which leaves us with:

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]June[/name]
Other honor names that are excluded with my one syllable rule are [name]Miriam[/name] & [name]Frances[/name].
My advice would be to pick the name that honors whoever you were closest to or who was related to those you are closest to. Stylistically…

[name]Kate[/name]- so pretty & simple & traditional feeling
[name]Pearl[/name]- vintagey & hip feeling
[name]June[/name]- naturey & bright feeling.
I would pick [name]June[/name] cause that’s the image I prefer…but really they’re all very pretty…even [name]Grace[/name] is very nice it just has more of a ‘filler’ feel to me like this generations [name]Lynn[/name]/[name]Ann[/name]/[name]Marie[/name]
I think that [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is beautiful. But if you can get away from your one syllable rule, I would say my vote is for [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. It flows perfectly and it gets my vote.
I love [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Kate[/name]! I’m biased though–both [name]Arianne[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Lila[/name] [name]Grace[/name] are on my short list. With just [name]Eleanor[/name], though, [name]Grace[/name] would be my pick for a girls’ name. It’s so sweet and timeless, I love it.

I think we both truly love [name]Grace[/name] (the name of my great grandma who babysat me each summer growing up, & is still the sweetest, strongest woman I know) but don’t want our daughter to be one of many [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Grace[/name]'s because our last name is super common as well.

[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] - It is cute but only if you really are naming it after somebody. Otherwise [name]Pearl[/name] just sounds like you’re trying too hard.

I agree that all of these names really do sound great, so pick whichever name means the most to you and whichever person you hope your daughter is most like! It will mean the most to your daughter that way too.
I like [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]June[/name] best, but if you were closest with [name]Grace[/name], then I would go with that. [name]Eleanor[/name] is only 150 on the SSA list…you might not need to worry about popularity.

My order of preference is [name]Kate[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]June[/name] and [name]Pearl[/name].
