Please help us decide!

My husband is from New Zealand and I am French and Danish. We live in English Canada and our household is bilingual French / English. This will be our second child. Our eldest is named Samuel Evan.

Please, give your opinions on our top two names. It’s been weeks and my due date is getting closer. Thank you!

Emily Jade Greenfield
Heidi Elizabeth Greenfield

Other middle name options for Emily:
Emily Nora Greenfield
Emily May Greenfield

We love Heidi but it’s my cousin’s name. She did give her blessing. We live on different continents and aren’t close though I am close with her sister. Heidi also sounds quite different in French as I’d drop the H sound.

I’d probably go with [name_f]Emily[/name_f] if I was you

I like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] but [name_f]Jade[/name_f] is a type of green and your last name is Greenfield so I’m not sure if that’s on purpose of went unnoticed. I still love it though. If you’re reconsidering, then [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is nice but not as good as [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]. Alternatives are [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jada[/name_f], and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] but I love [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] so I say go for it!

Congratulations! You have a beautiful list. From what you have, I really like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f].

What about [name_f]Heida[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f]?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you care about meaning? I wouldn’t recommend [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] unless you would like to honor your cousin.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] flows wonderfully! i love the name [name_f]Nora[/name_f] as well but it doesn’t flow as well with [name_f]Emily[/name_f] as [name_f]Jade[/name_f] does. those are my first and second choices!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f] Greenfield :). It feels like a name that fits in a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] Austen’s novel :orange_heart:.
I love the idea of [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] as a first name, but since it’s your cousin’s name, maybe it’s better not to use it (unless both sides are ok with it).
Other similar names that reminds me of [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]:
[name_f]Hilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Heida[/name_f]
[name_u]Harlow[/name_u]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f]

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is so sweet! As a fellow [name_f]Emily[/name_f], I can recommend the name and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sound beautiful together!

I also love [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but I agree it does sound quite different in [name_u]French[/name_u].

I adore both names, but I think [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is more appropriate for you, it also translates better in [name_u]French[/name_u].

I dont know how I’d feel using a name of a cousin that I dont particularly fancy… and it would get butchered in translation. I agree with pp suggesting [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f].
