[name]Both[/name] middle names are family names and we will likely use [name]Franz[/name] or [name]Klemens[/name] for this baby’s middle name (my FIL or my hubby).
The names need to be able to be clearly pronounced in English and [name]German[/name] (we live in [name]Austria[/name]).
On my short list right now are:
[name]Noah[/name]
[name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Nikolas[/name]
[name]Dominik[/name]
Everyone here loves the name [name]William[/name] (we call him that, no nn), and I love that it shows his roots…
Anyhow, thanks in advance for your thoughts!!
[name]Happy[/name] 2011 to Everyone!!!
My favorite from your list is [name]Nikolas[/name] - very handsome and a good fit with [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name]. I think [name]Nikolas[/name] [name]Franz[/name] or [name]Nikolas[/name] [name]Klemens[/name] would work. I also really like [name]Dominik[/name] [name]Franz[/name]
I think [name]Noah[/name] or [name]Dominik[/name] would be wonderful names with [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name]. I love [name]Matthias[/name] and [name]Nikolas[/name] but their endings are too matchy with [name]Lukas[/name]. [name]Noah[/name] [name]Klemens[/name] or [name]Dominik[/name] [name]Franz[/name] are possible pairings that sound great! Good luck!
[name]Hi[/name], I’m not sure if you are still looking for names, but I couldn’t ignore this post, because I too have sons named [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name] (we call him [name]Liam[/name] though). Our other son is named [name]Henry[/name], so this is my main suggestion to you. I get wonderful comments on their names, and [name]Henry[/name] is of [name]German[/name] origin but still pronounced fine in English. I think [name]Henry[/name] [name]Franz[/name] sounds wonderful, and they are both classic, [name]German[/name] names.
Of your list, I like [name]Dominik[/name] best. We almost considered naming [name]William[/name] this, only with the [name]Dominic[/name] spelling though. I guess we have a very similar taste in names
From your list, I think [name]Dominik[/name] [name]Franz[/name] sounds best with [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name]. [name]Nikolas[/name] and [name]Matthias[/name] are great names but to me the endings are too close with [name]Lukas[/name]. Some more names I can see working with [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name];
Hmm, just remembered that the middle name would probably be [name]Franz[/name] or [name]Klemens[/name], which I don’t think has the best flow with these names. But I think they go great with [name]Lukas[/name] and [name]William[/name].
[name]Hi[/name] Everyone!! Thanks so much for the feedback!!!
mom2lhl: thanks so much for writing!!! I love that we are so on the same wavelength with names!! I too adoooore [name]Henry[/name]. The only problems is that one of my best friends has three boys and last year when they had their third she asked if they could use [name]William[/name], which was of course not a problem for us. However, their first’s name is [name]Henry[/name] (middle is [name]Charlie[/name] in case it interests anyone!!). Anyhow, I would feel so strange using that name for this reason… But I do love it and it just happens to be a family name for us, is a name everyone here loves, understands, can pronounce, but is not at all popular so would be a great compliment to our [name]William[/name], for example. Another I love is [name]Harrison[/name] (nn [name]Harry[/name]), but the [name]German[/name] pronunciation is simply hideous…
As for [name]Dominik[/name], it was our favorite until I made the stupid mistake of telling my mil about our name thoughts and she went on and on about how she has a student currently who is named [name]Dominik[/name] who is simply aweful and that we should pleeeease not name him [name]Dominik[/name]… wouldn’t really be a big deal exept we are super close with my in-laws… idk, maybe it wouldn’t matter after he is here… just a thought.
Thanks for this list! Here are my thoughts… [name]Oskar[/name] – it’s okay, but does remind me of the grouch… I was a big SS fan as a kid [name]Adrian[/name] – one of my best friends just named her little boy this. Very pretty. [name]Julian[/name] – is actually on our current list. My dh actually is a big fan. Would fit too, as he is due in [name]July[/name]. I don’t really love it for some reason. Also, the English pronunciation is with a hard ‘j’ sound and the [name]German[/name] a soft… [name]Sebastian[/name] – also on our list. I keep wanting to fall in love with this name, but it just isn’t happening! [name]Simon[/name] – just o.k. [name]Joseph[/name]/[name]Josef[/name] – lovely. A big family name in my dh’s family, too… [name]Just[/name] don’t love it. [name]Raphael[/name]/[name]Raphael[/name] – a bit too Italian for us. [name]Miles[/name] – wouldn’t work with [name]German[/name] pronunciation. [name]Benjamin[/name] – our next door neighbors just had a [name]Benjamin[/name] on [name]Saturday[/name]
[name]Anthony[/name] – nope. [name]Oliver[/name] – good friends (x2) have one. [name]Viktor[/name] – reminds me of Days of Our Lives. I know, horrible!!! [name]Stefan[/name] – my dh has a coworker named [name]Stefan[/name] and it’s not a good association. [name]Patrick[/name] – a bit too Irish [name]Andrew[/name] – Could be an option. I am not at all a fan of [name]Andy[/name], though, and I would fear this happening dispite all good efforts.
Thanks a million for all of the thoughts!!! I am still really struggling with ideas, so if you have any please let me know!!! I desperately want to fall in love with a beautiful name for this baby!!!
