I am looking for name suggestions for our baby due in [name_f]October[/name_f].
We don’t know if the baby is a girl or boy yet!
I seem to be drawn to American names (We are from South [name_f]Africa[/name_f])
Girls names that I like:
[name_f]Avah[/name_f] (My absolute fave girl name of all time, but it has become far too popular in recent years)
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_f]Paityn[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
Boys names that I like:
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] (My most fave boy name, but also far too popular nowadays)
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_m]Trent[/name_m]
[name_m]Jenson[/name_m]
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_m]Jethro[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
Boden (nickname Bo)
Greyson (Worried about high school kids teasing and calling him “Gayson”)
My partner does not like any of these names 100%. He likes [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] for a boy, which I also like, but we have a school here called Hudsons [name_m]Park[/name_m] and a burger joint called Hudsons so I am not willing to use it!
I don’t like long names like [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], Evangaline, [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] etc
I also don’t like everyday names like [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] etc
Congrats! I don’t know how the popularity of each name transfers from the US to South [name_f]Africa[/name_f], but hopefully there will be something that catches your eye.
For girls, I’d first like to suggest [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] or [name_u]Avery[/name_u] if you like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or [name_f]Avah[/name_f], just because of that “av-” sound. [name_u]Avery[/name_u] is quite popular in the US, but [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] is not. Other girl suggestions:
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] (pronounced either A-lah with a long “a” or “EYE”-lah, depending on your preference - the long “a” way could also be a good [name_f]Avah[/name_f] alternative)
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] (a top 10 name in the US right now)
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Macy[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Presley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
Boy suggestions:
[name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_m]Cooper[/name_m]
[name_u]Dillon[/name_u] (or [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], which is the more popular spelling by far, but I like the double “l” way personally)
[name_m]Ford[/name_m]
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m]
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
[name_m]Landon[/name_m] (a great [name_u]Logan[/name_u] alternative)
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
If [name_f]Avah[/name_f] is your very favourite, don’t worry about popularity, use it! (Especially since the popular spelling is [name_f]Ava[/name_f]). Otherwise [name_f]Averie[/name_f], [name_f]Avalynn[/name_f], or even [name_f]Adah[/name_f] could work?
I love [name_u]Everly[/name_u]! [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Harlow[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Kinsley[/name_f], [name_f]Emerie[/name_f], [name_u]Fallon[/name_u], Landrie or [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]?
I’m not great with boys names, again please don’t let popularity sway you from using a name you love!
I really like [name_m]Roman[/name_m], [name_m]Jenson[/name_m], [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] and [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Keegan[/name_u], [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], [name_m]Judson[/name_m] or [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]?
If popularity was the only issue, I would probably consider still using the names, I failed to mention that both names have been used more than once by people that are just too close to us (boohoo!)
I am really liking [name_f]Avalynn[/name_f] and [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] from your suggestions!!
