Despite the pronunciation issues, [name]Mariel[/name] is still my favourite. It’s stunning! The other names are either not distinctive enough or blend too much with [name]Alaina[/name].
I agree with inkonherfingers. [name]Mariel[/name] complements [name]Alaina[/name] and [name]Liam[/name] (gorgeous names, by the way!) in a way that the other options do not. I also love how [name]Mariel[/name] sounds with middle names [name]Jean[/name] or [name]Martine[/name]. I would say go for it! It’s a beautiful name and once the people she spends a lot of time with (such as at school) get used to the pronunciation, it won’t be an issue anymore. I helped in a second grade class this year and noticed that this was the case with the more unusual names.
Good luck!
Thank-you so much for the excellent feedback!
Funny, I’ve only known [name]Mariel[/name]'s that went be Mahr-ee-elle. I went with [name]Amara[/name] because I think it’s gorgeous. I know it starts and ends in an -a like [name]Alaina[/name] but I think it is different enough. I do agree though with others that as long as you don’t mind correcting people in the beginning, people do end up learning the “different” pronunciation.
[name]Arianna[/name] is by far my favorite! I’m a huge sucker for [name]Ari[/name] names, though. I do prefer the [name]Ariana[/name] spelling, though, it just looks more sleek and pretty to me. I think [name]Ariana[/name] [name]Martine[/name] would be just stunning!
I like [name]Mariel[/name] the best. [name]Meribel[/name] is one of my favorites.
I like [name]Amara[/name] and [name]Mariel[/name]. I say [name]Mariel[/name] like mair-ee-uhl. Like the [name]Little[/name] Mermaid [name]Ariel[/name] with a ‘m’. I think both names are gorgeous!
[name]Amara[/name] is my favorite, I love the sound and the meaning. I voted before reading the siblings’ names though, and I see how [name]Amara[/name] and [name]Alaina[/name] might get confused. My vote really should go to [name]Marella[/name] then. If you don’t prefer [name]Mair[/name]-ee-el prn of [name]Mariel[/name], I wouldn’t use it. It would be a real pain to deal with.
