Please help with your opinions on my top 7 girl names (and only boy name...) PLEASE!:

[name]Hi[/name] friends! Its been awhile since I’ve been on:) I find out if its a boy or girl in 2 weeks! For a girl, my faves are:

[name]Fiona[/name]- I detest the Shrek comments, but really, under it all, don’t care:) I love this one.
[name]Daphne[/name]- again, the daffy duck/scooby comments, but really, eh. I love this one.
[name]Estelle[/name]- I love its meaning and classic feel… not sure if I’d use it or not… thoughts?
[name]Olive[/name]- my DH isn’t sold but he said we can leave it on the list. To foody? To [name]Olive[/name] Oyl?
[name]Hazel[/name]- I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] but but it was the name of DH grandma and that might create drama… [name]MIL[/name] did not get along with her…
[name]Violet[/name]- I am just not sure about her popularity. In my area I think it is waning, but I hear about a TON of Violets being born…
[name]Adelaide[/name]- The -laide part kinda sorta bugs me… teasing here? Or the French connection that -laide means ugly? But I do love this one.

Boy name:
[name]Truman[/name]- it’s the only name DH and I can agree on:)

Please leave thoughts! Comments! I am trying to narrow down!

I actually quite like [name]Estelle[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name]. If the end part bothers you, what about Adalita as an alternative? She’d have a totally kick-ass namesake, too.

[name]Fiona[/name] - I love this name and I don’t think it’s too tied to Shrek!
[name]Daphne[/name] - I’m not as crazy about this. Idk why.
[name]Estelle[/name] - A solid classic - and with [name]Stella[/name]'s popularity, I see this being a nice but accessible twist.
[name]Olive[/name] - Not my favorite, honestly. Like the plainer cousin of the (now too popular for me) [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this but I would not choose it in your case b/c of the family issues.
[name]Violet[/name] - my fav. I’m worried about the popularity too
[name]Adelaide[/name] - if you don’t like [name]Adelaide[/name], what about [name]Adele[/name] or [name]Adella[/name]? Downside, everyone will think it’s after the singer. But I think [name]Adelaide[/name] is a lovely name.

[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]

I like…

[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]

I like [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Adelaide[/name]!
I must not be up to date on pronunciations… I guess I assumed [name]Adelaide[/name] was pronounced with a long ‘i’ sound… because my name is [name]Heidi[/name] coming from the [name]German[/name] [name]Adelheid[/name]. I guess it makes sense that it is pronounced how it looks now… ‘laid’.

Have you thought of [name]Adeline[/name] instead of [name]Adelaide[/name]? I love it much more.

[name]Fiona[/name]- I love it. I don’t care about Shrek comments. It was a name before the movie.

[name]Daphne[/name]- I don’t care about the comments… I am not too crazy about the name though.

[name]Estelle[/name]- it’s nice. But I really prefer [name]Estella[/name] or [name]Stella[/name].

[name]Olive[/name]-not too foody. not too [name]Olive[/name] Oyl… I just don’t like the sound of it at all. I’d rather be [name]Olivia[/name] although it’s popular.

[name]Hazel[/name]- I don’t really like this name very much. Still a bit Pold lady" sounding.

[name]Violet[/name]- I love it, popular or not.

[name]Adelaide[/name]- It’s the -laid part of the name I don’t like (not because of teasing, I just don’t like the sound). I really like [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Adela[/name].

Boy name:
[name]Truman[/name]- it’s the only name DH and I can agree on - go for it, it’s a nice name.

Please leave thoughts! Comments! I am trying to narrow

[name]Fiona[/name]- I get tired of the Shrek comments TBH. I love the name, and the character isn’t a bad association so I say go for it! Only reason it’s not on my list is because my fiance’s last name starts with an F
[name]Daphne[/name]- I like this name a lot. I think of the character from [name]Frasier[/name] (that was her name wasn’t it?) if that helps.
[name]Estelle[/name]- NMS but it’s ok.
[name]Olive[/name] - I like it.
[name]Hazel[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this name! But I think I might have a hard time using it if there is a potential problem with it. I’d maybe think about it but if you love it, use it! [name]One[/name] of my favorite names is the name of the worst boss I’ve ever had, so I’ve been trying to decide if the association is strong enough. I don’t think it is for me. Something to think about!
[name]Violet[/name]- I like it. It grew on me when my cousin named her daughter this. I know of two that are about 2 now.
[name]Adelaide[/name]- I love it! I don’t really think of the “laide” part as being a bad thing. Maybe some teasing if someone makes the association but TBH kids will tease about anything. You could always give her a nn if you think it might be an issue.

Boy name:
[name]Truman[/name]- TBH I don’t like it, but it’s not a terrible name. If it helps here are some suggestions if you want some more to put on your list:
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Carter[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name]
[name]Porter[/name]
[name]Thatcher[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]
[name]Fletcher[/name]

All of the names are wonderful, there’s not a bad one here! My favorite of your choices is [name]Estelle[/name], I think its just beautiful.

I also know a 10 yr old [name]Adelaide[/name] and it’s super cute name on her. It reminds me a little bit of lemonade, but that’s why I like it! Its happy like a summertime picnic. No teasing there at all, I believe.

[name]Truman[/name] is a solid, handsome name! You don’t seem to excited about it, though. [name]How[/name] about [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Charles[/name] or [name]August[/name]?

good luck!

[name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Fiona[/name] are my favorites from your list.
I would go with [name]Daphne[/name], it’s a really beautiful name and I think it has less teasing potential than [name]Fiona[/name].

oh thank you all!!! your advice is wonderful! I am still undecided about my top 3, but it gives me alot to chew on:) I [name]DO[/name] think [name]Hazel[/name] is out:(

Oh, i’m sorry I gave that impression of poor [name]Truman[/name]:)! I [name]DO[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] IT!!! I just more or less made this post about the girls names, so I didn’t add alot to my boys pick:)

I really like your names! My thoughts-

[name]Fiona[/name]- ha! I don’t even think of Shrek! [name]Fiona[/name] is quite popular in [name]Scotland[/name], where I lived for a while, so I’ve known several girls with this name…I think it is pretty, energetic and feminine without being frilly
[name]Daphne[/name]- again- those comments never really occurred to me, but I’ve never really seen the cartoons. this is a lovely, classic name.
[name]Estelle[/name]- never warmed to this one…probably the only one on your list that I don’t love, but that’s just my own opinion
[name]Olive[/name]- well, if your husband doesn’t love it, that’s always a reason to let go, especially when you have plenty of other names, but personally I like [name]Olive[/name]…I think it is distinctive and charming
[name]Hazel[/name]- hah, this is one time where a family connection is a bad thing! well, if you love it, I’d still use it, but I guess it depends on your own relationship with the people involved
[name]Violet[/name]- I don’t actually know any Violets…again, I’d check your area statistics if you’re worried about popularity…it is almost in the top 100 in the US
[name]Adelaide[/name]- I think this is a lovely name. If you don’t like the -laide part, there’s [name]Adeline[/name]. Or [name]Arlene[/name].

Boy name:
[name]Truman[/name]- hmmm…not a huge fan. Perhaps [name]Lincoln[/name]? [name]Forrest[/name]? [name]Carter[/name]? [name]Parker[/name]? [name]Fletcher[/name]? [name]Rowan[/name]? [name]Edmund[/name]? [name]Henry[/name]? [name]Charles[/name]? I’m not sure exactly, just throwing some out there that sort of fit with your girl names and [name]Truman[/name]. [name]Henry[/name] is really classic, and I love the nn [name]Hal[/name]. Or- [name]Atticus[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name].

[name]Love[/name] Adelaied the most of all the names on the list!

[name]Hazel[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name] are three beautiful names too.

[name]Fiona[/name], [name]Estelle[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] are my least favourites. I find [name]Olive[/name] too foody, lol but it makes a nice enough middle name.

[name]Love[/name] love love [name]Truman[/name]. Have yet to hear it on the playground.
