Please help!!!

My boyfriend really wants to name our son Laythen. But, we can’t think of a good middle name. Originally we liked Laythen [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. The problem is…I have a friend who is due any day now and she says she is also giving her son “[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]” as a middle name. Please help!! I’m due next month! What do you think?? Thanks!!

Anything you pair with Laythen is going to sound like a command. [name_m]Lay[/name_m] then, [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]! [name_m]Lay[/name_m] then, [name_m]David[/name_m]! [name_m]Lay[/name_m] then, [name_u]James[/name_u]!

Use it. First, [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a popular middle name. Second, Most people don’t even know each others middle names. I’d be more uncomfortable if this friend, assuming you are extremely close, was using the same first name.

I’d still use [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].

You don’t need to disclose your chosen name for approval from anyone.

If it was the same first name I could maybe see it being strange, but in this case i wouldn’t think twice.

I don’t think it’s a problem as very few people will know his middle name.

I’d say you can still use it, as others have said, [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a popular middle name and it doesn’t seem like you’re copying your friend’s super original find. And I agree, if it was the same first name I’d probably try to find an alternative but I wouldn’t worry about the same middle.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce Laythen? My assumption is that it rhymes with [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]? In that case I pronounce it LAYTH-in and and don’t hear the command “lay, then” at all.

Some other alternatives if you really still want to change it are:

Laythen [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
Laythen [name_m]Anderson[/name_m]

Good luck!
