It has been really stressful trying to name our son. My name is [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f], husband’s [name_f]Macy[/name_f] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], and our daughter’s [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]. Our last name is [name_m]Miller[/name_m]. I like traditional names, but my husband doesn’t like anything to trendy. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. We just can’t seem to decide.
I have compiled a list of names that we have discussed but none are definite.
If I were choosing for you I’d choose [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. It has letters and sounds inspired by both of your names, as I’m assuming you did with [name_f]Millie[/name_f]'s name.
[name_m]William[/name_m] is nice but feels more classic. I’m not a fan of [name_m]Ace[/name_m].
I would go with [name_m]Ean[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] or [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
The alliteration in your family is very unique, [name_m]Miles[/name_m] could fit with [name_f]Macy[/name_f] & [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]. If you want to get away from that, you could try [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], [name_u]Dean[/name_u], or [name_u]Beau[/name_u]? All of these are in the top 1000 but not the top 100, and feel traditional without being too old-fashioned.
For the record, I love [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]! It’s so sweet. From your list, I like [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m], and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. I agree that [name_m]Miles[/name_m] is nice style wise. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] on your current list I think fits best.
You could also consider:
[name_u]Cary[/name_u]
[name_u]Camden[/name_u]
[name_u]Carlisle[/name_u] or just [name_m]Carl[/name_m]
[name_m]Ephraim[/name_m]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_m]Elton[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_u]Lyle[/name_u]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
On your current list, my second choice would be [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], then [name_m]William[/name_m].
I love patterns and reading this the pattern is awesome
[name_f]Macy[/name_f] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
____ ____ [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
First off I love that she’s names after your grandmother and also that [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is basically [name_f]Emily[/name_f] without the E, [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m] is actually very cute, I love [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and on a whole the illiteration makes her sound a little like a super cute super hero… Also to anyone raising an eye brow at it… Typically girls marry and do change their last names as well if it’s such an issue hehe. Now since her name is so like yours and she has your middle I would suggest your son get [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] as a middle and just go with it. I think [name_f]Macy[/name_f] is pretty unisex from where I stand but nameberry does seem to think girl. All three of your names end in the ie sound, your daughters being unique with ie vs both of your names ending in y, all 2 syllable names. For a boy my suggestion is an E name, 2 syllables, possibly unisex? Ending in ie so
E_ _ie [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]
I wouldn’t use any [name_f]EM[/name_f] manes but let me look around a bit… If you’re wanting to play on this pattern if not I would still recommend [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] as a middle for sure… Especially since all your middles would begin with J and you’d give your same sex child you middle and opposite sex child your first initial <3 so fun…
[name_u]Elzie[/name_u] and [name_u]Earlie[/name_u] are adorable or I like [name_m]Ernie[/name_m] but I know that dates itself a bit. [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] and [name_m]Ebbie[/name_m] are both pretty fun and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] being the most masculine. I like [name_u]Elzie[/name_u] though. I think [name_f]Macy[/name_f] & [name_u]Elzie[/name_u] sound like a pair like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] & [name_f]Millie[/name_f] do to me.
Anyway I imagine people are recommending using another M name but I feel like you’d be wasting a chance to be really fun just to have a third M.
Another thing I thought is that if you were just looking for a name but not an E name… [name_u]Asa[/name_u] I think also pairs really well with [name_f]Macy[/name_f], in this case.
Thank you so much for your input and I appreciate that you noticed our pattern. It wasn’t done this way on purpose with millie’s. It wasn’t until after we picked her name that we noticed she has my husband’s initials. So when I found out we were having another boy or girl we wanted them to have my initials and [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] be the middle name. So before we knew what we were having the girl names were easy. The boy names were not as easy to come up with. So we decided to broaden our options, but still can’t decide.
It’s so tough to decide I know. We are hoping to have another next year and are already beating ourselves up over names as well. I think we night have narrowed it down to a few…, let’s pray no one uses any in the meantime… Two babies expected in the family in a few months hehe…
I bet something will strike you as the right thing soon. [name_m]Eli[/name_m] I like for you too, a bit of a different sound but you get the initials and syllable count and it’s such a sweet name, a friend used it last year. Is there something specific you feel drawn to outside of sort of keeping him in this pattern? I find that I love so many E names for boys <3
I vote for [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m]?! What on earth were you thinking? It may be ‘cute’, but infancy doesn’t last long. She’ll most likely get bullied. Plus, it’s totally unprofessional. She may have been named after a grandmother, but you should’ve used it for at least a middle name.
I prefer [name_u]Elias[/name_u] from your list. What do you think of Emeric [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]? I think [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and Emeric sounds great. Plus he would have your initials.
Other ideas for the EJM initials:
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_m]Eddison[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
Other names I like with [name_f]Millie[/name_f]:
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ([name_u]Theo[/name_u])
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m] ([name_m]Leo[/name_m])
I really like the idea of having an E name with the middle [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]/[name_m]Eddy[/name_m] would be my choice, though I don’t think you’d have to end it with an ee sound…you might limit yourself TOO much if you intend on having more children… but here’s some others:
[name_u]Evan[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_m]Earnest[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Easton[/name_u]
[name_m]Elroy[/name_m] (this could be cute and still end in y)
[name_m]Edsel[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Elmo[/name_m]
[name_m]Erik[/name_m]
[name_m]Erroll[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
Ender
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t listen to all the [name_f]Millie[/name_f] [name_m]Miller[/name_m] haters. I went to school with a [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f] [name_u]Farrell[/name_u] and she’s fine.
I can’t believe how rude some people have been about your daughter’s name. I went to school with a [name_u]Randy[/name_u] [name_m]Randall[/name_m] and an [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_m]Iverson[/name_m], neither of which were picked on and have managed to have careers in adult life without problems.
Since your daughter’s name seems inspired by your own, my first thought would be to do something similar for your son and my ideas were:
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_m]Ace[/name_m] could work as a nickname for either of those, but I prefer a more formal full name to just ace.
But I also see your daughter shares initials with her dad, so if you want to go that route, I think [name_u]Elias[/name_u] from your list is a great option (I don’t care so much for [name_m]Ean[/name_m]–seems like asking for confusion with [name_m]Ian[/name_m]–but I like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] or [name_m]Ewan[/name_m]), again with the middle name [name_u]Jordan[/name_u].
[name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] sound nice together, too!
