Please pick from four “V” names!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Would love feedback on these four “V” names.

[name_f]Vela[/name_f] (pronounced vay-luh)
Velah (pronounced vell-uh)
Veli (pronounced vell-ee)
Veleigh (pronounced the same as above)

Honouring a (male) Polish relative named Velvel.

*** follow up question: if you saw vela, how would you think it was pronounced? ***

I like Velah the most! It feels more complete than [name_f]Vela[/name_f]. Veleigh would be my second. If I saw [name_f]Vela[/name_f] I would think it was pronounced exactly as you described. I think it’s a great choice and fits in with the popular V girls names without being too similar.

For the vell-uh pronunciation, I would spell it [name_f]Vella[/name_f] or Vellah. For the vay-luh pronunciation, I’m not sure how I would spell it. I guess [name_f]Vela[/name_f] does make the most sense. [name_f]Vela[/name_f] is definitely my favorite in terms of sound and looks.

I really like [name_f]Vela[/name_f]! I knew someone named [name_f]Veda[/name_f] (vay-duh), so I would know that the name was pronounced Vay-luh. I don’t like Veli/Veleigh much at all (you could always use Veli/Vellie as a nickname for [name_f]Vela[/name_f]). And if you were going to go with the -ella sound, I’d spell is [name_f]Vella[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Vela[/name_f] is the more appealing of your choices!

I like [name_f]Vela[/name_f] a lot!

[name_f]Vela[/name_f] is by far my favorite!

If I saw [name_f]Vela[/name_f] written down I would assume it is pronounced vee-la, for the vay-luh pronounciation I would spell it Vaela or Vayla. For the vell-uh pronounciation I agree with pp I would spell it [name_f]Vella[/name_f]. My favorite is Vaela, and I like [name_f]Vella[/name_f] (although it might be misheard as [name_f]Bella[/name_f]), but I do not like Veli/Veleigh.

[name_f]Vela[/name_f] definitely. Or [name_f]Vella[/name_f] if you wanted the ‘vell-uh’ pronunciation.

I second the Vaela spelling idea if you wanted it pronounced ‘vay-la’. At first, I thought Vela might be pronounced ‘vee-la’. Vaela is easy to pronounce correctly first time.

I like [name_f]Vela[/name_f] best, which I’d intuitively pronounce “VEE-la”.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about a real GP of mine… [name_f]Velvet[/name_f]?!

I prefer the vell-uh pronunciation [name_f]Vella[/name_f] or Velah

Hello! [name_f]Vela[/name_f] is a portuguese word that means candle and sail. It’s pronounced veh-lah/vell-uh. The only option I like is Veli but as a nickname. I second the suggestion of [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and [name_f]Velvet[/name_f].

Suggestions:
Velisse
[name_u]Vega[/name_u]
[name_f]Verena[/name_f]
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Valley[/name_f]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
Valkyrie
[name_f]Valeska[/name_f]

Velvel means “wolf” so what about names with the same meaning: [name_f]Guadalupe[/name_f], [name_f]Lupe[/name_f], [name_f]Lupita[/name_f], Ylva, [name_f]Blakesley[/name_f]/Blakeslee or [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] (as a middle name)?

[name_f]Vela[/name_f] definitely. I would think it was VAY-luh or VEE-luh. It wouldn’t be confusing to remember.
