Sorry for jumping on the bandwagon and posting another thread, but I’d love it you could pick you ten favourites and rank them. Your least favourites, comments and suggestions would be hugely appreciated too!
I didn’t really change the order because I couldn’t pick a favorite! [name]Adele[/name], [name]Serena[/name], and [name]Odette[/name] are probably my three favorites, though!
Hehe don’t apologise, I jumped on the bandwagon too, so if you have time you can pick my list apart too!
Great list, hard to pick ten, but here goes:
[name]Nina[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]June[/name]
[name]Clemency[/name]
[name]Serena[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
I also quite like [name]Elspeth[/name], [name]Odette[/name], [name]Althea[/name], [name]Adele[/name], [name]Marina[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name], [name]Athena[/name] etc, I just don’t love them as much as my top ten
Oops pressed enter too quick then! Was gonna add, there aren’t many I dislike but my least favourites would be [name]Ann[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Ingrid[/name], [name]Liberty[/name], [name]Rosa[/name] and [name]Valerie[/name]. Most of them I find too clunky or old fashioned sounding, even though I do love some clunky vintage names like [name]Martha[/name] or [name]Harriet[/name]. [name]Ann[/name] I just find too plain and boring, although [name]Anna[/name] is gorgeous in my opinion. And [name]Liberty[/name] feels trendy too me, although I like [name]Elisabeth[/name] nn [name]Libby[/name], and love that spelling of [name]Elisabeth[/name]!
Like:
[name]Verity[/name] - this is one of my most favorite names.
[name]Cecilia[/name] - I love the turn of sounds in this, though I don’t know if I would use it because of the meaning and the [name]Simon[/name] & Garfunkel song
[name]Hazel[/name] - I just like the way it sounds
[name]Ruth[/name] - family name for me but I think it’s such an underappreciated classic
[name]Liberty[/name] - [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] was our choice for a girl when our first was born. nn [name]Libby[/name] is too cute.
[name]Serena[/name] - another one with an appealing, pretty, and underused sound
[name]Adelaide[/name] - inexplicably, I kind of like this name.
[name]Don[/name]'t like:
[name]Ramona[/name] - can’t get over the “moan” in it
[name]Rosetta[/name] - Language software
[name]Althea[/name] - just sounds ugly to me
[name]Ingrid[/name] - another one sounds ugly to me
[name]Rosemary[/name] / [name]Rosalie[/name] - I can’t separate these two, I really like them equally. I think they’re vintage feelings without being frilly, have great nickname potential and can work for all ages/stages of life.
[name]Juliet[/name] - this one has been on my list forever. I just think it’s one of the most classic “pretty” names out there - [name]Shakespeare[/name] non withstanding. Greatly prefer [name]Juliet[/name] to [name]Julia[/name]/[name]Julianna[/name]/[name]Julianne[/name] etc
[name]Hazel[/name] - quirky, but not too quirky. Fun, vintage sound.
[name]Margaret[/name] - I really do like this name and I wouldn’t have been so fond of it a few years ago. I think it’s great - classic, elegant, works for all stages of life, not too common or too esoteric. I love [name]May[/name] as a nn
[name]Cecilia[/name] - much like [name]Margaret[/name]. Walks a good line for me between classic and not too out-there.
[name]Bridget[/name] - it’s one of my middle names. [name]Bridget[/name] nn [name]Bree[/name] is very cute, [name]IMO[/name]
[name]Odette[/name] - I love it, not sure I’d ever use it. I knew an [name]Odette[/name] that I called “Dettie” for short.
[name]Josephine[/name] - Regardless of [name]Jo[/name] [name]March[/name], it’s in the [name]Cecilia[/name]/[name]Margaret[/name] category for me
[name]Adelaide[/name] - nice update to the popular [name]Abigail[/name]. It has a very musical sound when you say it aloud
