Please help! I am really struggling with a name for my second baby due in 2 weeks. My DH and I have been looking for months now and cannot find any names that we both really like (for a girl or a boy) and the stress of it all is really starting to get to us! I like unusual names with a variation on spelling but don’t want something that people will miss-pronounce. My own name is like this ([name]Adria[/name]) and i have went my whole life being called so many variations that I answer to lots of different names! My 3 year old daughter is called ‘[name]Lillia[/name]’ which I still love and i would really like a name that goes with that. I love the ‘L’ sound and would probably have called the baby [name]Lola[/name] if our dog wasn’t called that! That’s if the baby is a girl, we don’t know what we are having.
The only names that I have only my girl list at the minute are [name]Luna[/name], but I would spell it Louna and [name]Aria[/name]/[name]Ariah[/name] .My DH isn’t keen on either. He thinks Louna will lead to teasing and the few people i have mentioned it to have all said, ‘What [name]Una[/name]?’ or that reminds me on lunatic. [name]Ariah[/name] I like but my Dh thinks it’s too much like my own name. That’s why i put the H on the end.
Boys list consists of … nothing! [name]Tom[/name] was on there for a while but it’s not unsual at all, doesn’t really go with [name]Lillia[/name] and as much as i think it’s a nice name, i cant see me calling my son it. Thought of [name]Larkin[/name] and [name]Lochlin[/name] to carry on the L theme but that’s all i came up with.
Please give me your opinion on the names above or any suggestions of your own. I want the baby to have a middle name too!
I love [name]Luna[/name]! I think its so enchanting.

[name]Delilah[/name]
Also, [name]Ive[/name] seen quite a few people spell aria as “[name]Auria[/name]” which is a legit spelling. Maybe that will appeal to you?
I tried to suggest names with a strong ‘l’ sound since you said you like that.
For boys, I love the name [name]Lachlan[/name], but a few other possibilities are:
[name]Leland[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Langston[/name]
[name]Luther[/name]
[name]Luca[/name]
[name]Lucian[/name]
[name]Leonidas[/name]

[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Paul[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Leonardo[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]
Again , mostly ‘l’ names. I hope you find a few you like. Best of luck!
When you get a few together, you can post again, and then i can suggest you a few middles if you want. I know you said you were stumped.
Also, welcome to nameberry.
Some great names here, thank-you so much! I really like [name]Landon[/name] for a boy, haven’t came across that before and I’d actually thought of [name]London[/name] for a girl. You have given me lots to talk over with my husband, hopefully there is something he will like too!
My sisters name is [name]Reid[/name], and she has always gotten compliments on it. Its a real name yet unusual for a girl, as is the spelling and it cannot be mispronounced. Only thing is on paper it may look like a boy but cant help that, not that big of a deal. Then we have family friends that were inspired by that and named their daughter [name]Meade[/name]. I love the name [name]Gemma[/name] but my husband wont let me use it, its pretty, its british, not too common in states though. I also love the name Loie, as in Loie [name]Fuller[/name], look her up. She is the redhead in the [name]Toulouse[/name] [name]Lautrec[/name] paintings. Pronounced “Low-ee.” [name]Born[/name] [name]Louise[/name] but went by Loie. I also like [name]Beatrix[/name] and call her [name]Bo[/name], i.e. [name]Bo[/name] Deryck.
For boys, what about [name]Thatcher[/name] or [name]Bridger[/name]? Hope this helps or gives some inspiration.
Oh, and one more, when I was little I new an “avrielle” (Aa-vree-elle)
I think [name]Laurel[/name] would be nice with [name]Lillia[/name]!
Other cute L names for girls:
[name]Lux[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Lottie[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Leona[/name]
[name]Loretta[/name]
Other names that would be great with [name]Lillia[/name] style-wise:
[name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Selina[/name]
[name]Mona[/name]
[name]Dalia[/name]
[name]Samara[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Nova[/name]
[name]Raina[/name]
[name]Eleni[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
I think [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is cute but think the confusion comes with the spelling.
Some ideas for you:
[name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Lolita[/name_f]
[name_u]Lexi[/name_u]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] (lor e lee)
[name_u]Laurie[/name_u] (lorry)
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Malory[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Layla[/name_f] ([name_m]Eric[/name_m] Clapton song). [name_f]Leona[/name_f] is another. I’ve also liked [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_m]Link[/name_m] for boys. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m], agreeing on a name is hard if the parents don’t share the same taste in style.
Please, please, please do not change the spelling of a name, use the traditional spelling, any other approach corrupts the name.
I think that a name with an L in it like [name_f]Willow[/name_f] would make a good fit otherwise I think that [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] would be very sweet and lovely.
I read on-line that Louna is the French spelling of [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. Is it really that bad to spell it differently?
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] is lovely and I’ll definitely add this to my list.
I think [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is too close to my own name and have heard it being pronounced on tv recently as A-ree-ahh which isn’t the way I thought it should sound!
I’m not really any further forward though even with everyone’s suggestions!
I love [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. Louna looks like the first syllable could be mispronounced like loud. I wouldn’t but I think a lot of people would. Other less common names you might consider for girls:
[name_f]Circe[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alla[/name_f] (too close to your/ [name_f]Lillia[/name_f]'s names?)
And boys:
[name_m]Lucien[/name_m]/ [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_u]Zelig[/name_u] (random but rare and with an L sound)
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] (popular but a great name)
I have no idea how to pronounce [name_f]Auria[/name_f]. I would try to put the u sound in there and pronounce it like [name_f]Autumn[/name_f].
I am not the biggest fan of fancy spellings so I am not a fan of your top two.
I do like [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is fine.
I also like:
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_u]Lyric[/name_u] (goes with the musical theme from [name_f]Aria[/name_f])
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (pronounced quite differently from [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] and is also musical an old-time instrument)
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Malia[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]/[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!
I like [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] spelled like this. I prefer [name_f]Aria[/name_f] spelling, then [name_u]Arya[/name_u] like the GoT character. [name_f]Ariah[/name_f] makes me question the pronunciation…as in “Is it like [name_m]Uriah[/name_m]?” [name_u]Arya[/name_u] was on the top of our girls list until Game of Thrones TV version blew it up; we worry about the trendiness now.
P.S. if you’re not already aware, opening Super Search and looking for L names can be really helpful. You can specify popularity and other things.
