Please rate and rank our shortlist of 8!

We do have a favourite (we think…) for this baby girl, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the following eight options for us.

Keep in mind sibling names [name_f]Juno[/name_f] M@tilda and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] V@lentine, and surname similar to Winterfield.

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] (there is a connection)
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]

Thank you!

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]

These are my favorites. I particularly like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] but I do think the others match siblings better. I do not like the names [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], or [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. And I don’t think they are as compatible with the sib set. What middle names would you be using?

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] (there is a connection)
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]

Ranked from best to worst (imo):

  1. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] - A really lovely name, completely recognisable but not overused at all, and seems somehow to fit in with your older childrens’ names. I think maybe it’s the subtle space-y ness of [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] together that gets me. Definitely my number one choice!

  2. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] - A sweet, underused vintage pick. Again, I think it works really nicely within the sibset. Also a name that grows really well from child to adult.

  3. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] - I’m not sure if I love this name, but I think it’s a very good stylistic match for your family. My main problem with it is the lack of options/nicknames, but I suppose that’s very similar to [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and so might be exactly what you’re going for! It is sweet though, and has some nice literary connotations.

  4. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] - Almost exactly the same comments as for [name_f]Tess[/name_f] with this one. I like it just a little less though, it kind of screams scullery maid at me, not sure why though!

  5. [name_f]Ines[/name_f] - I love this name, but it somehow feels a little too different in style to [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. It’s a bit too European in comparison. Also shooting up in popularity right now, at least where I live; I know of three babies called [name_f]Ines[/name_f] born this year alone!

  6. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - Again, a nice name, but I think it’s too long to work with your other childrens’ names and doesn’t fit in the sibset at all.

  7. [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] - I can never quite get there with this name, I really want to like it but just don’t. I think the repeated ‘k’ sound is a little jarring when repeated in the sibset. I would avoid that kind of clash between siblings’ names.

  8. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - I think this could be a really cute middle name, but definitely does not work for me as a first. I think as a child it might invite teasing. It is just a little too different for me.

[name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and…

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]

I’ve been rooting from [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] for a while, if I remember correctly. I like the simplicity but familiarity of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] with [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f], while similar, seems incomplete somehow.

I agree with previous suggestion of [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] in the middle, if possible. It definitely fits the whimsical feel of your older children’s middles.

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] (cute, spunky, shares O sound without sounding repetitive)
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] (I like it with your last name, fairly unusual, dramatic/vintage without being over the top)
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] (short and spikey like the other two, [name_f]Pippi[/name_f] Longstocking vibes)
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] (good combo of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and vintage, but girly while the others are more unisex)
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] (growing on me and I like it with last name, but I’m never sure how to pronounce it)
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] (a little boring to me)
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] (sounds very spanish to me, not sure it goes with the others)
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] (too out there and modern for me)

in order of personal preference:

[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]

But I think all of them except [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] go really well with your sibset, there’s no bad name there! In fact all of the top 5 are names either on our serious shortlist or ones we’ve seriously considered.

In order of my personal preference I would probably say:

[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]

But I think they are all lovely and could pair well with your sibset! Good luck!

[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] (On its own, I would actually put it between [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] and [name_f]Ines[/name_f], but I’m just not a fan of it with the sibset.)

My favorites in order:

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] (just perfect with your other children’s names, and an underused classic)
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] (so pretty)
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] (very cool)
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]

Almost all the names work, I think it’s just what feel you want to direct your sibset

[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]: this is my favourite for your sibset, it’s stylish and sleek, elegant, like [name_f]Juno[/name_f] yet still has an innate sweetness that ties it to [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. I think it really unites the sibset. I’ve been rooting for [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] since I saw you were having a girl! I think it’s perfect.
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]: it’s a really sweet name but I think, whilst it fits in and is a definite match for [name_f]Juno[/name_f], it isn’t as well suited to [name_u]Kit[/name_u].
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]: I actually really like this, it’s fun and springy with your sibset.
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]: I’m just not sure it works with siblings, it’s alright just quite heavy feeling with the whole sibset.
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]: this makes the sibset really spunky.
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]: I actually really love [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] “[name_f]Nona[/name_f]” as a combo so I loved that it was side by side. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is a little more towards the [name_f]Juno[/name_f] side in terms of style but it’s not too bad as a whole.
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]: I have a super soft spot for [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], I think she makes your sibset so warm and vibrant BUT I’m not super keen on her as a full first name, I don’t think she ages well but she is very sweet.
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]: classic and elegant, it’s nice but a little boring I think some of your other choices work just as well or better and make the sibset more exciting

So my top 3, in order is
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]: elegant and sweet, takes elements of both names and ties the sibset together.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]: makes the sibset vibrant and warmer
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]: it is a little more [name_f]Juno[/name_f]-esque but I think “[name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], rAMONA” is really fun and easy to say and they’re still nice together.

  1. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] - if I remember correctly, both your families have nice associations with the name [name_f]Helena[/name_f] (?)
  3. [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
  5. [name_f]Ines[/name_f]
  6. [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
  7. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
  8. [name_f]Flora[/name_f]

I actually love all these options so it’s hard to rank. A suggestion: make 3 different rankings - one based on how important is the meaning/ significance of these names, one based on how [name] sounds with siblings and another one based on your preference (pure feelings here) = combine the results. Maybe cut the list to 3-5 names and pick one after the birth?

[name_f]Nell[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] are gorgeous!

[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]

You have some great options here! I can’t wait to see what you choose!

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]!!!

[name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] is amazing btw I didn’t know his mn.

Wow, so many responses!

Thanks so much to everyone who’s replied. So interesting to read all these different perspectives on the names; I’m actually quite glad to see that your rankings are pretty mixed — means they must all work to some extent!

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] gets my vote as well - so happy, timeless, and easy-breezy, like your older kids’ names. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is cute too, imo.
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] has way too much teasing potential, imo…have you seen The Office? {American version where they discuss [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] in depth}
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is a no-go for me because I lived in [name_m]Boston[/name_m] for several years, and there I spent time hanging out with a good friend named [name_f]Mona[/name_f]. But - with a [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f] accent it’s said ‘Moaner’…truly awkward, imo, sorry. {we used to laugh and cringe about it quite a bit!}
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] I love but doesn’t seem to fit in your set as well as [name_f]Flora[/name_f], imo.
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] I love too, but I don’t like saying [name_u]Kit[/name_u] & [name_f]Tess[/name_f] right together…a weird quirk, I know.
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] as a first name is too religious for me, personally, and I’m not at all a fan of [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], but I do like it as a middle name for it’s bounce and quirk.
And unfortunately [name_f]Nell[/name_f] also gives me barmaid vibes…sorry! I much prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f].

Whatever you end up naming this baby will be magical and lovely, though, I’ve no doubt!

I prefer [name_f]Tess[/name_f] then [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] in consideration wih your other children’s names and surname.

Without regard for siblings/surname, my favorites are [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] and [name_f]Ines[/name_f].

I like all your names and think they would all work - in fact I would be thrilled to meet a little one with any of these names and thrilled with the sibset. So, tough, but here’s my order:

[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]

Some thoughts that I used to separate them: [name_f]Flora[/name_f] may be my favourite name on the list, but it’s not as sharp and quirky as [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] - a more soft and gentle name. [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] can be a little hard to say. [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] holds its own with older sibs and I find it very appealing as a first name. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] has the right amount of strength and quirkiness to hold its own and add a lot to sibset. [name_f]Adore[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f], but coming after t ending [name_u]Kit[/name_u] made it a bit lower for me. I’m one of those who can’t get over the ‘as’ in [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], but would find it very cool if I met one. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] ahead of [name_f]Ines[/name_f] because I think a sharper sound over softer works better.

#1-[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
#2-[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
#3-[name_f]Tess[/name_f]- [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] are my favorites because of a.) the cadence when said aloud with Jun0 and K1t and b.) they match the style of sibs names very well. Also, I just plain love these three and think they are very pretty/stylish
#4- [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]- I love it and could easily see [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] as a sister to Jun0 and K1t as well. Doesn’t exactly match with sibs in terms of style/vibe. A little more unexpected than [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], or [name_f]Tess[/name_f], maybe a but more…exotic?
#5- [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]- Adds a sunny, romantic, character-from-a-book type of quality to sibset that I really like
#6- [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
#7- [name_f]Ines[/name_f]- [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Ines[/name_f] are both nice and fit well, I just like others on your list more with sibs names!
#8- [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]- this is the only one that I am just not into

You’ve got some great names there so it’s a “safe” situation whichever order you’ve got them!

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] - fresh, happy and evocative like your others
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] - strong, great nn’s (eg [name_u]Romy[/name_u])
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] - I love the sound of this name, and I find it so utterly charming. Only downside is the lack of nn’s if you’re a nn family/ part of the world.
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] - low key and cool - ages really well too - I do think Helen nn Nell could be nice too.
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] - pretty but also breezy, great choice even though it’s in the back four
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f] - great if people say it right, nice symmetry with [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u], letters wise
[name_f]Sunday[/name_f] - this is a happy name, I just couldn’t go through with it myself, just in case it started to feel dorky
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] - pretty, unique and on the celeb radar, just don’t think it has quite as much as your others
