Please restore my love for this name

I’ve been in love the name [name]Sarai[/name] for a long time now, and I’ve been set on naming a future daughter that if I could. However, somebody on here mentioned the similar name [name]Soraya[/name], and likened the sound to psoriasis, and now I can’t get it out of my head. :frowning:
So, if you can, reassure me of other things that will make the horrible connection disappear. Is it really that bad? I don’t want to let go of this name yet!
Thanks!

My best friend growing up was named [name]Sarai[/name], and my mom called her Psoriasis all the time (she meant it lovingly, lol). It’s still a beautiful name though. Kids are going to make fun of names in all sorts of ways you may not anticipate, so I wouldn’t stress about it too much.

[name]Sarai[/name] is very pretty. She’ll probably get Psoriasis, but there’s a lot worse out there than that.

[name]Sarai[/name] is so pretty! I love it.

I probably have a different opinion than most people, but I knew a girl whose name was [name]Sarai[/name], but said the Spanish way, so most people ended up calling her closer to SAIR-ee instead of sah-[name]RYE[/name]. If you want to get rid of the psoriasis association, maybe using the Spanish pronunciation would help? I like the sound of SAIR-ee better than sah-[name]RYE[/name], personally, and I think it’s because of the [name]Sarai[/name] I knew. She just embodied her name… so happy, bubbly, friendly, and kind. It suited her. Like the previous posters have said, kids are teased for all sorts of reasons, and I’ve heard kids say that kids really don’t tease each other about names anymore, anyway. Maybe that’s just the kids I know, lol, but still… names are diversifying so much nowadays, anyway, so I don’t think it’d be a huge issue. [name]Sarai[/name] is lovely! I hope you get to use it.

Good luck!
