Please Vote- Favorite Girl Name

We’re having an extremely hard time narrowing down our list of girl names for this baby due in 11 weeks! I know we have time…but I’m very impatient and I’d like to know this baby’s name already!

Top 3 (Pick from these first unless you really don’t think they work!)

  • [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] ________ [name_m]Brown[/name_m] (nn. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Lea[/name_f]) pronounced: Core-deal-ia {meaning jewel of the sea, from Shakespere’s [name_m]King[/name_m] Lear} husband approved

  • Lowery ________ [name_m]Brown[/name_m] (nn. [name_u]Rey[/name_u] [pronounced: ray]) pronounced: rhymes with flowery {from Welsh name [name_f]Lowri[/name_f] meaning [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]} husbands idea/approved

  • [name_f]Briony[/name_f] _______ [name_m]Brown[/name_m] (nn. [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u]) pronounced: Bry (rhymes with [name_m]Rye[/name_m])- o- knee {Name from Atonement} husband dislikes

If these REALLY don’t work, then go ahead and consider my husbands other favorite name:

[name_f]Keira[/name_f] ______ [name_m]Brown[/name_m] (nn. IDK…) pronounced: [name_m]Keer[/name_m]-a {becoming extremely popular and I can’t seem to [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name}

These are the only spellings or alternatives to these names we like…we’ve considered everything in the spectrum…I promise.

Please be honest with the names though, what you think, how they read, if they don’t go with [name_m]Brown[/name_m]. We’re throwing around a million middle names. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to throw out opinions with your vote!

My favorite is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. I really like the Shakespearean ties in that name, and I think it’s lovely with your last name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t name your other daughters [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] and Goneril. Lol

LOL!!

I had a hard enough time explaining [name_f]Briony[/name_f]'s character from Atonement to my husband who then said…. “and you want to name our child after her?”

Goneril and [name_u]Reagan[/name_u] will not be mentioned!

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is my favorite

My favorite is [name_f]Keira[/name_f].

I vote [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]'s meaning ‘jewel of the sea.’ Then you can explain to her when she’s older that she’s your little jewel:). And it’s always nice to have a Shakespearean name, it’s awesome to have a name from the greatest storyteller in history!
I personally wouldn’t go for [name_f]Briony[/name_f] or [name_f]Keira[/name_f] if you and your husband don’t both like it.
And I’m not a huge fan of Lowery. Not many people know this name, so a Lowery might encounter problems in regard to spelling and pronunciation mistakes.

I hope this helps:)

Great points! The meaning is one of my favorite things about the name [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. I love the ocean, it’s the most peaceful thing to me. I’m in awe of every ocean animal and it’s just always been something that been extremely intriguing to me. [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] of the sea makes me think of the most precious pearl or sea glass

[name_f]Briony[/name_f] I guess I’ll have to give up on. LOL [name_f]Keira[/name_f] I hope he gives in to lettingt his one go. And Lowery… We might make it a boys name alone. I adore the name but idk about how much I love it for a girl… esp when I have a perfect name already in my mind  very very helpful!

I also vote for [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].

Oh [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], by a mile!

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is by far my fav, one of my favorite names all together. It’s feminine and pretty but not to frilly, unusual and “big” without being over the top, and it’s very easily recognized, said, and spelled while still unlikely she’ll ever have another in her class or at work. It’s also timeless with many super nickname options.

Lowery is nice, but I do foresee spelling/pronounciation issues, people calling her “[name_u]Laurie[/name_u]”, and find it a tad masculine. I might use it as a middle or if it was a family name, but [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is much better [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

[name_f]Briony[/name_f] is nice but after growing up at the peak of “[name_m]Brian[/name_m]” I’m quite over the sound. It’s got nothing on [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f], and is a bit awkward/unnatural for me personally to pronounce, not sure if others have the same issue.

[name_f]Keira[/name_f] is lovely but as you said, popular, and again [name_f]IMO[/name_f] has nothing on [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].

I really love [name_f]Briony[/name_f], I like the alliteration and I think it flows well! [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is also a lovely name which goes well with your surname imo. I don’t think the other two flow so well.

I like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] best! In addition to [name_f]Cora[/name_f], it has a number of sweet nicknames, from the adorable [name_f]Cordie[/name_f] to the sleek [name_f]Delia[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f], to [name_f]Lia[/name_f]. It’s a classic name that feels familiar but also rare.

I’m not sure that I like the repeating 'ow" sound in Lowery and [name_m]Brown[/name_m]. I prefer [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], a gorgeous name.

I’m not sure about [name_f]Briony[/name_f] because it sounds a bit sing-song-y with [name_m]Brown[/name_m], and the Atonement connection is depressing to me, plus your husband doesn’t care for it. It’s too bad that [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is so popular because I like that name very much.

Combos of the suggested names from my most favourite to least:

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] Lowery [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
Lowery [name_f]Keira[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f] [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Keira[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f] Lowery [name_m]Brown[/name_m]/[name_f]Keira[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m]

Definitely [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]!

I really like [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and think it’s a beautiful name. Lowery is ok but [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] just sounds more special to me. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Briony[/name_f] and I honestly really don’t like the sound of [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_m]Brown[/name_m].

I love Lowery and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].

AHHHHHHHH! You guys are awesome  so helpful!

My kids favorite is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], also! My husband was liking it too but then just told me he’s not sure what he’s not crazy about… The middle name or the first… :frowning:

I have to find the perfect match. But I really think [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] could be the first name!

I mentioned [name_m]Keiran[/name_m] as a female option instead of [name_f]Keira[/name_f]. He LOVES it… But I was mentioning it more for a middle  lol

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_m]Keiran[/name_m] [name_m]Brown[/name_m] isn’t too bad… But that’s when he started giving up on [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]!

It’ll come!

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is my favorite, it feels unique and special. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] also has a lot of vintage charm! Its an adorable name for a child and also will age well for an adult. It also has a beautiful meaning and a [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection, what else could you want?!? It also helps that you both like it, because my second choice would be [name_f]Briony[/name_f], but I don’t know if you’d want to go with something that you both don’t like. But [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful!

Cordelia is by far my favorite of your options.

I think since you don’t like [name_f]Keira[/name_f] and he doesn’t like [name_f]Briony[/name_f], those two should be pushed further back. (I have to admit that I find [name_f]Briony[/name_f] awkward to say too. I don’t know why I can’t do it) I take it you aren’t fond of [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] as a first, so it should either be moved to the middle (compromise: name you like and name he likes) or pushed back for that one too.

My favorite is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f].

I think [name_m]Keiran[/name_m] is beautiful  esp for a girl. I know it’s generally the boy version of [name_f]Keira[/name_f] but it’s not too bad. I don’t love it the same as [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] though. He agreed to [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] for sure!

I think I might give him [name_m]Keiran[/name_m] for the next girl-

Thank you! Yeah- we just had to push back any names we both didn’t love. He just didn’t want to give up on [name_f]Keira[/name_f].
