[name_u]Julian[/name_u] is my personal favourite! [name_m]Classic[/name_m] but still cool and I enjoy the soft but solid sounds. Still, it sounds like that might not be right for you if you know a lot of Julians.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is my second fave. Fairly timeless and âdatedâ names are kind of on style atm. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], [name_u]Rex[/name_u], [name_u]Red[/name_u] and [name_u]Fox[/name_u] are fun nicknames, alongside the more classic [name_m]Fred[/name_m].
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] is my next fave, if pronounced Loo-ee (which is how it would be where I am), but it might get mispronounced if that isnât so familiar
[name_u]Austin[/name_u] comes next - not a fave, but itâs okay - I feel like itâs one of those place names that feel very namey too, not just tied to the city
[name_u]Francis[/name_u] is okay - solid and kind of clunky cool. [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] might liven it up a bit, or [name_f]Francie[/name_f]
[name_m]Collin[/name_m] is my least fave. [name_m]Just[/name_m] find it unappealing, which is odd, as I like [name_u]Collins[/name_u]
[name_u]Julian[/name_u] is my favorite followed closely by [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. But I voted [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], because by your descriptions of the names it seems to answer your own question. Other thoughts: I can understand not wanting to use the same name as a child of a close friend or family member, but maybe [name_u]Jules[/name_u] is an option if you like that? [name_u]Adrian[/name_u] also gives me the same vibes as [name_u]Julian[/name_u].
I really like all of these names except for [name_u]Austin[/name_u], which sounds kind of tired to me because i know a number of Austins in the 20s-30s age range.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m], [name_u]Francis[/name_u] (Frank is a plus!!), and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] are my favorites. They sound fresh and they have adorable nicknames. They would make a great set of brother names.
[name_u]Julian[/name_u] and [name_m]Colin[/name_m] are both great names, tooâJulian is so musical-sounding. They are both perhaps slightly less exciting than the above three since theyâre well-used, but if one of them captured your heart there would be no reason not to use them (i guess, depending on how complicated it would be for you to âre-useâ Julian)!
My personal favorites are Frederick and Louis, though as you said there may be a lot of confusion with the pronunciation for Louis, which might make it somewhat impractical, but by no means unusable (I personally like Lou-ee better as a pronunciation). While I do think Frederick is a bit noticeably old-fashioned, Iâd say itâs established enough that it doesnât sound like a complete âold man nameâ and I doubt there would be any teasing for it or anything like that. It also has the advantage of feeling familiar and not too out-there but without as big of a chance of there being 5 other kids at school with the same name. Francis is also nice for similar reasons.
I have no strong opinion about Austin, I donât dislike it but I wouldnât say I particularly like it either. Iâm not a huge fan of Collin, though it might just be because of a somewhat bad association with someone with a similar-sounding surname. The colon thing you mentioned is a valid concern, but I donât think itâs bad enough to where you shouldnât use it. Julian is a nice name, though Iâve always found something about it slightly⌠idk, off-putting, Iâm not sure what, but itâs probably just me. I was surprised at how popular it is right now, it sounds to me like it could fit someone of any age, but I can totally understand why itâs popularity might make you hesitant to use it. I do like Julius and Jules better, probably leaning slightly more towards Jules.
[name_m]Julius[/name_m] is very nice! Doubt you will meet another too, which is a plus. But at the same time itâs still a familiar name which is also nice.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. Itâs old fashioned in a timeless way and it has lots of cute nicknames (Freddie, [name_u]Red[/name_u], [name_u]Fox[/name_u], [name_u]Rex[/name_u] as @Greyblue mentioned). Iâd be overjoyed to meet a little [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]! It also seems to be the one you have the least concerns about.
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite is [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (either pronunciation). It may get annoying to constantly correct people on the pronunciation and spelling. It also has the cute nickname [name_u]Lou[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] third favorite is [name_u]Francis[/name_u]. Another concern may be that heâll be mistaken for a girl, but itâs less likely since most girls his age wonât be named [name_f]Frances[/name_f]. Itâs cute and old fashioned in a good way.
[name_f]My[/name_f] fourth and fifth are [name_m]Collin[/name_m] and [name_u]Austin[/name_u]. I donât feel strongly about them at all. Theyâre very âehâ to me, probably because of the popularity. They give me southern ranch kids who like hunting vibes. If thatâs what youâre going for then great!
[name_f]My[/name_f] least favorite is [name_u]Julian[/name_u]. A lot of people like it but I donât understand the appeal. The only association I have is [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_u]Julien[/name_u] from Madagascar. Itâs not necessarily a bad association. The name just doesnât sound or look very appealing to me. I do think that if the friends are hostile about it maybe avoid it.
I voted for [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], a very underused classic. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname [name_u]Red[/name_u]. But itâs important you consider what has most appeal and meaning for you, rather than primarily the reactions of others as they are all fine names. I would spell [name_m]Colin[/name_m] the traditional way with one L.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is nice but I love [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] or [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]? Maybe
All this names are wonderful and have deep establishments as a name !
Personally I picked [name_m]Collin[/name_m] because it has the most meaning to me due to an honour and association.
I absolutely love [name_m]Frank[/name_m] / [name_u]Francis[/name_u] / [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_u]Julian[/name_u] .
[name_f]My[/name_f] hesitation is [name_u]Francis[/name_u] I would worry about the misspelling [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] I would worry about people pronouncing it [name_u]Lou[/name_u]â ee vs [name_u]Lou[/name_u] - is , and my child may have to correct people their whole life
Yea I agree on [name_m]Louis[/name_m] pronounciation. [name_f]Frances[/name_f] looks like a girl name [name_f]Do[/name_f] you feel the experience of correcting pronounciation of [name_m]Louis[/name_m] annoying?
