You have three lovely options there! I think [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f]) is the best option with [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m], but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] ([name_f]Cece[/name_f]), and [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] are pretty too.
Florence is my vote! [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] would be my second choice!
To be honest they’re all lovely, so it was a hard choice, but…
I prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f] as a stand alone to [name_f]Florence[/name_f], and for [name_f]Florence[/name_f] I prefer the nn [name_f]Florrie[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] to [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and wouldn’t want the gorgeous [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] shortened to just [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. So I therefore voted for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] nn. [name_f]Cece[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Cece[/name_f]. I’ve never heard [name_f]Alice[/name_f] shortened to [name_u]Allie[/name_u]. It’s always just been ‘[name_f]Alice[/name_f]’ which is pure and classic and gorgeous. [name_f]Cece[/name_f] I also love but i’m not a fan of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] (meaning blind) so getting [name_f]Cece[/name_f] from [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a genius idea and I love it, and so based on nicknames alone I voted [name_f]Alice[/name_f], you can’t really go wrong though.
I hate to suggest this because your three names are gorgeous, but have you considered looking for more options? It seems to me that each name has a major problem: you don’t love, he doesn’t love, neither of you love.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] in case: [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] ([name_f]Cece[/name_f]), [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] ([name_f]Cece[/name_f] or [name_f]Missy[/name_f]), [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] ([name_f]Annie[/name_f]), [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] ([name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Cece[/name_f]), [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]/Luciana ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is SO sweet with [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u])
I know! It must look so silly, but really these are the best we have after narrowing down from a huge collection! If we both didn’t come from such enormous families it would be a lot easier—so many of the names we love (and many you suggest) have already been used by the hordes of nieces and nephews we have between us
We are being extra critical, of course, in the hopes of getting it right, and we are both fairly discerning, I think, at the best of times (hence picking apart even the names we love best). We really do like these three, concerns aside!
Thank you for your suggestions—they are beautiful!
Thank you so much for all these wonderfully thoughtful comments, and your votes! It has been incredibly helpful, and–bonus–my husband is increasingly liking [name_f]Florence[/name_f]/Flora: perhaps helped by all the enthusiasm on here!
I love that in [name_u]America[/name_u] the leading names are so unique, ranked only at only 934 ([name_f]Florence[/name_f]) and 936 ([name_f]Flora[/name_f]); so interesting, given the popularity they enjoy in my homeland! [name_f]Canada[/name_f], I imagine, is somewhere between the two, but we’d certainly have a unique name that would fall well outside of the top 100 if we went with that choice!
I think we are down to two first name choices ([name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Florence[/name_f]/Flora), which is wonderful, and exactly what we’d hoped to whittle it down to before the due date. We’ll make the final decision when we meet our little girl
Thank you for all the help!
I love the nickname [name_f]Cece[/name_f] so I’ve gone for a [name_f]Alice[/name_f] purely because you’re planning to use [name_f]Cece[/name_f] as the nickname and also because you both like it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a query though, how would your husbamd feel about [name_f]Florence[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Cece[/name_f]? I mean if it works for [name_f]Alice[/name_f], it should be able to work for [name_f]Florence[/name_f] on the same principal, no?
Ooo, that’s so clever! The “Ce” sound maybe isn’t quite as obvious, but I think that could work. I’ll propose that one too. Thank you!
