Plz help, Baby Boy Due in 2 Weeks!

Hello,
Im looking for some help trying to settle on a final name for our boy due in a couple weeks.
We’ve been stuck between 2 names that both have pretty even pros & cons for us.
Last name: [name_u]Miller[/name_u]
1st [name_m]Son[/name_m]: [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] (nn.[name_u]Eli[/name_u])
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]- we love the outdoors, [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is after a mountain that has special meaning to us.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]- family name

  1. Oliver [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] (nn.[name_u]Ollie[/name_u])

Pros

  • We both love [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (first name we both loved when searching)
  • Hudson has special meaning and an outdoors connection for us
  • Eli & [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] sound adorable together haha

Cons
-[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is extremely popular
-[name_f]Celebrity[/name_f] name (I have since learned that [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]’s actor brother)

  1. Jasper [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (nn.[name_m]Jase[/name_m])
    Pros
-[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] has a connection to a special place for us and again we love [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
-[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is a less common first name

Cons
-my husband loves it less than I do
-worried that it doesn’t flow as well.
Is the triple “er” ending of all 3 names too much? Should that even be something I worry about?
-Had to “make up” the nn. [name_m]Jase[/name_m], cuz it bothered me there wasn’t an obvious one already lol

Sorry this is so long, am I over thinking? I appreciate your opinions and I’m open to all suggestions!
Thank you!

My vote definitely goes to [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]! It sounds wonderful with your other son’s name and seems like an ideal fit for you and your husband based on personal significance. Since your surname isn’t [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is not a very prominent actor, I wouldn’t worry about them sharing a name. I understand worrying that [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is more popular, but:

-It’s popular for a reason
-The middle name makes it stand out
-[name_f]Remember[/name_f] it’s the character and life of your son that makes him stand out from the crowd, and sharing a name with one or two classmates won’t change that.

I like [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and it goes nicely with your other son’s name. But, the triple -er ending is too much imo. Maybe with a different middle name it would go better?

I love how [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] flows with your last name and it goes so well with your first sons name. For me [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] has to many ers but it’s still a lovely name.

If you haven’t already try shouting out both names (like your calling a child in from outside) then try it along with your first sons name. This might be a way to see what possibly flows better for you and your family.

Congratulations!

Huge congrats to you and your partner!! I’m also on the [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] train - it’s unique yet not too uncommon, and flows well with your last name!

I personally prefer [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], but it sounds like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is the perfect name for you!
I did immediately think of the actor, but I don’t think it’s a bad association to have (he’s lovely)!! I agree with a pp that it shouldn’t be a dealbreaker, as it’s a first + middle rather than his first & last.

Also, have you considered [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]? You said [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] was special to you, and I think [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] eliminates the flow issue, so thought I’d mention it!

No matter what you can’t go wrong, you have all very handsome choices picked out! Good luck!!

Thank you! I have considered [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], but there’s just something about it I haven’t been able to quite get on board with.

Thank you for the suggestion! I did do this when choosing my first son’s name and with these too. It’s what really was selling the triple er ending con for me. Such a funny way to test out names, but it really works hahaha

Thank you so much for the sweet reply and sharing your ooinion. All your points definitely make me feel better about it and I especially overlooked the fact that with the actor the association would be first & middle vs first & last.

I think you’re right and we should go with our gut and not let the popularity factor sway our love with the combo. (Thats the advice i’d gove to someone else anyway haha)
Thanks again!

Thank you all so much for the replies and kind words! I think you’ve all just helped me solidfy my gut feeling. As much as I absolutely love the name [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], i think it needs to go back on the reserve list for possible future use in a different combo.

Oliver [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is the clear winner.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]’t let popularity detract from a special name that you both love. [name_m]Ive[/name_m] never heard of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] the actor’s brother, and after hearing about him still donr care lol.

Elias and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and an adorable sibset, too

Also, you are absolutely right, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] does not flow all so well. JaspER olivER millER does not sound great.
