**** Warning: This thread might make no sense****
The other day my little nephew was over at our place, and we all ended up watching one of his pokémon dvds he brought. As I was watching I was surprised by one specific Pokémon: [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f].
This made me curious to find out if there were more of these creatures with “normal” names. And little old me had to go through all the pokémons to find out. (Pokémon Pokédex: list of Pokémon with stats | Pokémon Database)
I did not find any real ones (except [name_m]Aron[/name_m] and [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]), but I did find a few I think have name potential.
Please take a look at my list and tell me if you see any names that have potential.
In other words: Could they work in real life at this point in time?
Male
Rhydon - It sounds like it would fit in with names like [name_m]Ryder[/name_m], [name_m]Ryker[/name_m] etc.
[name_m]Aron[/name_m] - Already a name I believe
Lucario - Sounds like an italian name to me (I know it isn’t), which are getting popular and with names like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] rising in popularity…
Finneon - Really similar in sound to [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. And the nn [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is getting popular as well
Sylveon - Really similar to [name_f]Sylvian[/name_f] and Sylvano
Female
Marill - It really reminded me of [name_f]Meryl[/name_f]
Eevee - [name_m]Just[/name_m] a yooneek version of [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
Mantine - I noticed -tine names are rising in popularity. And it’s quite similar to [name_f]Martine[/name_f].
Lugia - Again, sounds quite italian-esque. Reminds me of [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] (visually)
Cresselia - Some sort of spinoff between [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
Swanna - This one has more of a scandinavian vibe.
Unisex
Chansey - Word names for boys are getting more attention, and this choice could get you the nickname [name_m]Chance[/name_m]. it also reminds me of [name_f]Chesney[/name_f] and [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u].
Magby - I just thought it might work (don’t like it though)
So, do you think these names might work?
I personally see them working with the current trends of baby naming, eventhough I won’t use them myself and don’t really like most of them. Because to be honest, some of them just look and sound like yooneek and kre8if versions of names and others just sound strange.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you happen to like a pokémon name for a child that is not on the list? Maybe a GP?
Are there any other names from franchises that most others find odd, but you like?
**** Disclaimer ****
I do not promote naming you child after pokémon, this is just a thread I made for fun after doing some research
