I first fell in love with [name]Adelaide[/name] as a child, so that’s what I chose. It just seems more classic, I guess?
[name]Both[/name] are beautiful, but if push came to shove, I’d love to see a little [name]Adelaide[/name] running around.
It’s amazing how two names that seem so similar in some ways can give very different impressions.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Adelaide[/name] – we used it for one of our daughters. To me, it’s more classic, vintage, somewhat unexpected (at least where we live, though it’s often one of the most searched names on Nameberry, so I wonder how long the “unexpectedness” of this name will last!), feminine (but not too girly), and has the potential to be shaped by the personality of its owner rather than the other way around. I think it is somewhat more substantial than [name]Adeline[/name].
To me, [name]Adeline[/name] is sweet, also vintage, but not as ‘rounded’ as [name]Adelaide[/name] (don’t know if that makes any sense, but that’s the only way I can think to describe it right now). It is feminine, definitely, and somewhat moreso than [name]Adelaide[/name] (I like names that are clearly gender specific, but I don’t like names that go too far – Nameberry calls them ‘feminissima’ names I think, and that’s how [name]Adeline[/name] feels to me).
Either name is nice, and still underused, I guess it just depends what you like and how each ‘feels’ to you.
This is pretty difficult! I was in love with [name]Adeline[/name] (I like to pronounce it -leen) before I realized that it was getting pretty popular on Nameberry. Then I realized that the classic [name]Adelaide[/name] is a bit more likeable. A previous poster mentioned that it seems more well rounded and that’s exactly how I feel–it’s a bit difficult to put it into any other words. I also love [name]Adelaide[/name]'s many nickname possibilities–[name]Ada[/name], [name]Adele[/name], [name]Heidi[/name], Lady… I can’t see [name]Adelaide[/name] soaring to popularity, but [name]Adeline[/name] could.
This one was TOUGH! I like both names but voted for [name]Adeline[/name].
