I post because I’m interested in all of the wonderful opinions and names that circulate here on NB. I post because I get the wonderful chance to learn about different cultures and naming practices around the world and live vicariously through each of my fellow Berries. I post because it gives me the chance to voice my opinion and not be shot down for caring enough to speak up. I post because I feel like I am doing something positive for someone else. I post because of all the wonderful parents-to-be and other posters on NB, who inspire and encourage me to play with names and learn from others as I do so. I post because I feel like a part of the NB community, and I think that is a really special thing that [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] have created.

PS [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name], if you are listening, I think that the way these polls work is really odd. Has anybody else had trouble with reading them?
I post because I love names and because I like being part of the community. Ditto to the compliments [name]Rollo[/name] offered to [name]Lemon[/name]! [name]Lemon[/name] I loved your description of [name]Poppy[/name]! It made me smile
Oh, you girls are way too sweet. You’re both quite welcome, and I extend my compliments toward your own suggestions and naming abilities - you both have excellent taste!
I voted “because I like to be part of the Nameberry community”. I honestly never realized how many people where fascinated with names like myself until I found this site. When a variety of people post it adds to the mixing pot. I post because whether or not I’m useful to the original poster some one at some point might find what I’ve written valuable. [name]Every[/name] bit of information on this site is valuable to me, from the name games to posts from last year. Actually I find myself reading older posts all of the time. I also post because it helps me figure out what names I truly like for myself. Being able to discuss, even if briefly another persons favorite names or naming dilemma some how leads me closer to finding names that I truly love.
I post for a lot of reasons…First of all, I’ve been a name fan since I was in the womb, and when I first found [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s books a loooong time ago, I was beyond thrilled. My Beyond [name]Jennifer[/name] and [name]Jason[/name] book eventually became tattered and spotted with orange juice and chocolate stains (don’t ask…), but I never tired of reading it.
When I discovered this site over a year ago, I couldn’t believe it! Not only did Nameberry contain great information, but the people were amazing! ([name]Susan[/name] and [name]Lyndsay[/name] were two of the first people I met here…) And, as an added bonus, I was able to help people, and helping people is at the very core of who I am.
While I don’t really look up names on Nameberry very often, I keep coming back to help others and to stay in touch with the wonderful friends I’ve made, many of whom I know will be friends for life.
When I started here, the site was about a month old. When I found out about it I was so upset that I didn’t know the very first day! I’d loved the books for a [name]LONG[/name] time and had often checked [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s old website, always hoping it would be something like this (it wasn’t). Back then, there were only a handful of members, so it wasn’t intimidating to start posting like it might be now.
I post because it is so much fun here. It’s the first online environment that I’ve experienced that is similar to real life. People on nameberry retain their everyday manners, which are often lost online. People are respectful.
I also post because sometimes I’ll like some crazy name, and I need to berries to help me see the light. I post because I like it when other people respond to me, so I try to respond to them.
I love names, that’s how I found nameberry. I started posting because I was pregnant and needed the perfect name, and my husband’s input just wasn’t enough! But I stayed because of the wonderful people.
I second [name]Linda[/name]'s opinion (as usual)! And I have noticed that the polls look really odd and are very hard to read. I hope we’ll be able to make some changes soon that will correct that…
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Linda[/name] and [name]Pam[/name] I had a had a feeling when I started this poll that we were digging deeper than just baby names.
I second everyone else’s comments, and apart from the brilliance of the nameberries with names I love the respect and manners that are found on nameberry, and that everyone is so
compassionate and caring.
The nameberries are so willing to spend time on each post giving suggestions time and again till the poster finds THEIR name.
I too have a passionate love of names, I find them fascinating. I am so happy when each poster goes away happy and delighted when a baby announcement is made.
Being in the nameberry community is special and a wonderful place to be not only for our pregnant ladies but for those of us who just live and breath names.
I joined the Nameberry community as a poster because I love names, and am fascinated with their origins and meanings. I also like to help people who are searching for just the right name for their baby. Most NB posters have such wonderful respect for each other, and we all truly seem to have a lot in common when we are talking about names. Thank you, [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name], for creating such a great website!
I am a definite Nameberryite! I go on Nameberry every day, and I love to look at the threads. It is easy to make wonderful friends on Nameberry. Writing blogs is fun, too! Now I am a member of Nameberry on Facebook, too. It is great to know that there are people all over the world who share my obsession. [name]Love[/name] all the respect and good manners on Nameberry, too!
Thanks, [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]!
I usually lurk only because I am not pregnant nor do I have kids. I am just a baby name lover. If I have something I feel like I should post then I will.
I love names and post here because I am glad I’ve found people as equally as obsessed as I am! I also agree that the people are here are super sweet and knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to!
I post for the same reasons as everyone else. I love names and find new combinations, meanings, spotting new trends and reading other poster’s opinions fascinating!
As others have said, this is a really nice community, where everyone seems to try to help each other. I have looked at quite a few other ‘naming’ websites and this is definitely my favourite!
I recently discovered Nameberry because I am trying to find the perfect name for my second child (the first time seemed much easier). I love reading all the postings and am getting addicted to this wonderful website! I posted a question because I need feedback but want to keep the names a suprise from friends and family. Thank you too all those involved in creating this site and to those who post.
I guess I’m a lurker, poster, and searching for a baby name - due [name]April[/name]. I started here when I found out I was pregnant after being so dismayed with the IQ of posters on other naming sites. (babynames.com, babycenter.com)
I find the posters and the communities to be filled with ignorant, rude, and small-minded people. I love that most people actually use real words in their posts on NB versus all the abbreviated text code. KWIM?
The group has been very vocal, thought-provoking, and poignant with my name choices and I have appreciated it. Never rude, critical, or hurtful even if someone didn’t care for my names. I consider NB my #1 resource for baby-naming.
I think the caliber of people on this site is much improved over what else is out there.
