[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I see your problem. What a great list!
Here are my thoughts:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]-I love it too, but it doesn’t seem much like you do. I guess to be knit-picky, we can say that this ends in the same sound as [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. Obviously not a deal breaker, but it’s nice to have a fresh ending maybe?
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]-I love this one. It’s sweet & a little quirky. I don’t love how the ending of it runs into the beginning of your ln.
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]-This has the same ending sound as your ln. I don’t personally care for it, but it’s fine. It kind of reminds me of the word fragrance.
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]-I kind of like this. Prim just seems a little snobby sounding.
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]-This ultimately got my vote. It’s so smart, feminine & not over done. It sounds great w/your ln, & even though [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] isn’t a biblical name, I still think the sibset works really well. They all have similar vibes, which is also important.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
They’re all nice choices, but [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is the best. It’s known, not too popular, has the cute nicknames of [name_f]Miri[/name_f] and [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], it’s quite old, actually being the original form of [name_f]Maria[/name_f]/[name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] Nicholls is a bit difficult to say due to both ending in -s sounds, [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is the same deal. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are both nice, but [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] seems to have a more serious vibe than the rest of your options do, and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] just isn’t my cup of tea.
I went back and forth between [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] but I eventually settled on [name_f]Miriam[/name_f].
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is still a great choice, but I love the soft, gentle sounds of [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] with the strong look of the name. Additionally I though of the nickname [name_f]Mim[/name_f] which reminds me of Prim
I say go with [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] if it’s the most important/well-loved for you both. Who cares if it’s a bit more rare than your boys’ names? It’s still very familiar and recognizable, and many people have different styles of girl and boy names in one family. Honestly I don’t think they are too different, though. Altogether, [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] + [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] + [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] give me a soft, somewhat quirky, Victorian vibe.
I love almost all your choices! I see why you’re having a hard time. I voted for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] tie for second, but I’ve included my thoughts on each name.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a lovely name, and I can see why it’s your husband’s favorite. She does work well in the sibset, but maybe almost too well? It’s very “expected.” Also, I find it difficult to say “[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].” I could see myself tripping over it all the time.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] - I adore the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and I think it would be nice and fresh in this set.
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - This is my least favorite, and the only one I’d definitely cut. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is neither as classic as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], nor as quirky as [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. Some would say that makes it a good compromise, but honestly I feel like she’s just sort of meh.
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] - [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is so unexpected and wonderful with your set! I quite like that she’s one step off from [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], actually. The similar length and British-ness of the three makes them work together, but it’s not at all predictable. Not a fan of Prim, personally, but if you like it, then I think you should use it. (Also, you wrote the most about this one in your original post, which always makes me suspect it’s a subconscious favorite.)
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] - [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] has actually been on my mind quite a bit lately. I think she’s so underused! Serious, historical, with a warm, unusual sound. I think she fits in great with [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], and I wouldn’t worry about the biblical thing. The only downside to me is that maybe she’s too serious? I feel like you have a real chance to have fun with this last name, and the classics are less exciting. But [name_f]Mim[/name_f], [name_f]Miri[/name_f], etc are plenty whimsical! I definitely think the fun nicknames give [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] an edge over [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]! What an amazing name! [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] & [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] create a very interesting sibset. And I see it is the more meaningful to you which adds extra points.
My second favorite is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Very sweet and delicate. I think that [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is the one that “fits” more into your oldest children’s names style. I really like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] too. [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is also a very strong and sublime name. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is adorable.
Your list is fabulous! It would be so perfect if you could use two names… It is really difficult to pick only one, but I believe [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is “the name”.
I love [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I voted [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is also great and goes well. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is pretty but a little too out there with your boys.
Thank you all for such thoughtful responses!! You all are giving us a lot to think about
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is my favorite from your list, but even more so after seeing that it has the most meaning for you! I love how it goes with your boys, Prim is sweet, & [name_f]Poesy[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] are also nickname options!
I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but to me it’s a little too similar to [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. I like [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] too. I voted [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] since it feels more classic to me.
What a great list! I really do love every name on it and can see your dilemma.
I think every one of the names goes well with the boys’ names and every one of them sounds good with the surname, so can’t really eliminate any on those bases. I voted for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] because it is the most exciting and interesting to me and because you feel that connection with it too. I love Prim as a nn, and there’s [name_m]Pim[/name_m], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Posy[/name_f] if you need others.
My 2nd choice is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] as I love it’s slightly quirky but solid feel and I love how [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] add a more unexpected vibe to the brothers’ traditional names. I love [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], which always seems like a warm and kind name to me, and it’s so rarely used - I wouldn’t immediately think of 2 Hebrew and 1 not, just lovely traditional names. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is beautiful and has long been a favourite of mine. Very stylish. If looking for any reason to discount a name then [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is fairly similar to [name_m]Ol[/name_m]!ver in sounds. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] is also lovely, but maybe a little heavier sounding with the surname, possibly because they’re both 2 syllables and the strong ‘nce’ ending.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] being picky though as they really are all lovely.
