I know two teenagers, one spelled [name]Kara[/name] and one spelled [name]Cara[/name] but both pronounced CARE-A. Very pretty name. I like it much more than [name]Caroline[/name].
I chose [name]Cara[/name]. No point in naming her [name]Caroline[/name] if you plan to call her [name]Cara[/name], and it’s gotten to the point now where every “K” name looks kreative.
We have a [name]Carolina[/name]. We sometimes call her [name]Cara[/name]. I think [name]Caroline[/name] with the nn of [name]Cara[/name] is awesome. Also, if you do go with [name]Caroline[/name] you’ve got other nickname options if they seem better suited to your daughter once she arrives. For instance, [name]Callie[/name], [name]Lina[/name], [name]Caro[/name], Roli, or [name]Carli[/name]. If you want to go with just [name]Cara[/name]/[name]Kara[/name], I’d say either spelling is good. Go with the one you like the look of more. I am not one who likes ‘kreative’ spellings but both [name]Cara[/name] and [name]Kara[/name] have long been ‘real’ names and I think you’d be okay going with either of them on that front. Good luck!
I love the nn [name]Cara[/name]. I want to love it as a full name, but I feel like it just doesn’t fit as well with my other favorites (which are all longer with cute nicknames). I think [name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Cara[/name] is the perfect solution for that, although it makes me a bit sad that then [name]Cara[/name] takes on the meaning of [name]Caroline[/name] (free man) as opposed to what [name]Cara[/name] originally means, “friend”.
[name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Cara[/name] gets my vote, but I’d love to see someone use [name]Carolina[/name] nn [name]Cara[/name]!
I like [name]Caroline[/name], but I think [name]Cara[/name]/[name]Kara[/name] are good as given names. I voted for [name]Kara[/name] instead of [name]Cara[/name]. I have known three [name]Karas[/name] and they say their name like care-a where as I knew one [name]Cara[/name] and she said her name as car-a.
I knew a [name]Kara[/name], so I’m biased by liking the k. However, in the series: The Unicorn Chronicles, the girl’s name is [name]Cara[/name], spelled with a C. I think it works on it’s own.
I like [name]Kara[/name] spelled with a K because of Battlestar Galactica’s [name]Kara[/name] Thrace, who’s awesome. [name]Cara[/name] with a C looks too soft for me, and the “Care” is way more apparent. For some reason, I think of Care Bears.
You could use [name]Karen[/name] to get the nn. [name]Kara[/name] so it doesn’t look so kreativ & yooneek.
