Poll: Cyrus vs Wallace

Last one I’ll post today, promise. :grimacing: Due date is starting to creep up on us and I’d like to narrow it down.

Wallace vs Cyrus

Do you prefer Wallace or Cyrus for a little brother to Warren?
What different impressions do the two names give you?

My husband and I both love Arthur, but don’t love the projected continue increase in popularity. My husband is ready to set Wallace in stone as our second son’s name, and I do really like Wallace. At times I am all for it. Other times…. I don’t know I get hung up on something thing about it. I just don’t know if I can picture myself saying it repeatedly every day. I’ve really fallen in love with Cyrus too, but my husband isn’t sure how he feels about it.

I think [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] is super sweet (I love nn [name_u]Wally[/name_u]! :yellow_heart:) but in my opinion it’s too similar to [name_m]Warren[/name_m]. Of course, some people like matchy sibsets! But my fully honest opinion is that to me [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] & [name_m]Warren[/name_m] seem pretty cheesy together. And I think [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] is a really handsome name, that has the same cool, laid-back and familiar vibe that Warren’s name has!

I love [name_u]Wallace[/name_u]! (Agree about nn [name_u]Wally[/name_u], it’s adorable.) I think it’s clunky and sweet and matches the vibe or Warren…However, it’s just to similar for my taste. The W beginning, double letter middle, and the same two syllable just seem a bit matchy. If that’s your taste, than I do really love [name_u]Wallace[/name_u], but personally, it’s a bit too much.
[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] gives [name_m]Warren[/name_m] a cool, handsome, unique feel! I like it as well, and would ultimately vote for [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m].

[name_u]Wallace[/name_u] is sweet but clunky; stylistically, it has that slightly old-man, surname-y and rugged feel of [name_m]Warren[/name_m].

[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] is very cool and sunny; it’s laid back but sophisticated, outdoorsy and beachy, but also bookish and charming. It’s well established but feels fresh. It works really well with [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], but also holds its own.

Ultimately, I prefer [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] - a personal fave and doesn’t feel ‘matchy’

[name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] feels very strong and steady. It reminds me of the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Empire, even though I don’t know if it is an ancient roman name or not. That is just the vibe it gives me.

I can’t find a way to think of [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] without it being an “old man” type of name. Doesn’t seem as fresh or timeless as [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] to me.

I much prefer Cyrus! I don’t have strong feeling against Wallace but - like Alice - the “luss/liss” sound doesn’t appeal to me. As it is for others, it’s also probably too matchy with Warren - which I think is more obvious because they’re both vintage names. For me, Wallace makes Warren more of an eccentric name, while Cyrus makes it more outdoorsy, breezy, and current! Cy is also such a handsome nickname! Of course, you should follow your gut - and if that’s Wallace go for it, Wally is a happy name (FWIW, it is our Waldo in Oz, it’s Where’s Wally?)- but don’t let DH lock it in if you don’t feel entirely comfortable with it.
