What spelling do you prefer for a girl in the US? I know that Elowen is the actual name but we are leaning more towards Elowyn. The -yn is a more common ending in the US. What do you like?

I’m in the US and haven’t heard of or seen the -yn ending here. I prefer [name_f]Elowen[/name_f].

I agree with shells15. I don’t appreciate names being changed in spelling from the traditional if the traditional works just as well. Plus, the yn ending trend is on the decline in the US.

i love elowen, but elowyn, while pretty, is just a little off to me. i don’t see any real reason to change it, as the -en ending is perfectly intuitive.

I feel like I would pronounce these differently? [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] I would put emphasis on the -en like el-o-en. With [name_f]Elowyn[/name_f] I would say it more like win. el-o-win

Elowyn looks very wrong to me. I would go with Elowen.

Please don’t change it! [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is such a beautiful name. [name_f]Elowyn[/name_f] looks off to me and it’s definitely not more used in the US
