Poll - fave spelling

I think I know how this is gonna go, but hearing that Orla actually means vomit in Irish has put me off this spelling somewhat :weary:.

I’ve deliberately left out the Orlaith spelling btw.

Thankyou!

[name_f]Orla[/name_f] has been in Ireland’s top 100 most popular girl names on many different years, so if the [name_m]Irish[/name_m] don’t mind then I wouldn’t either!

Seconding this  though I do like [name_f]Orlagh[/name_f]

Out of interest, where did you hear this? Is it [name_f]Irish[/name_f] slang or the actual word?

I’m [name_f]Irish[/name_f] and whilst I don’t live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] I have family that do and who speak Gaeilge, and I’ve never come across this before. One of my cousins in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] is an [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and she’s never had these comments and they live in a Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area), I think you’ll be fine!

Yes, without the fada

I can’t remember where I first heard it - here is a letter in the [name_f]Irish[/name_f] Times about it anyway -
