Some may recognize me. Picking my last girls name is so hard! We have three kids, Liam, Eamon and Maeve. Last name Frederick.
I thought we finally settled on the name Fia, but it feels like it’s missing that cool girl vibe that I love about Maeve! I would love to do Neve (anglicized Niamh) but I’ve had so many say it’s too similar to Maeve.
So what do you think? Do you have a favorite from the poll? And feel free to comment suggestions!
[name_u]Blair[/name_u] is the one here for me that has the most cool girl vibes - short and punchy with subtle flair!
[name_f]Fia[/name_f] would be my next pick - I think it’s sparky enough!
[name_f]Neve[/name_f] is lovely but it is close to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] in appearance. Maybe that works for you since [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] and [name_u]Liam[/name_u] have a slightly similar look, but for me, [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Neve[/name_f] are just close.
Kind of like a bit of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] has been taken out:
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
Meve
[name_f]Neve[/name_f]
Still, it’s not totally unusable and I wouldn’t feel upset to see you pick it
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a solid name, but I like your other choices better
I chose [name_u]Blair[/name_u] as I think it sounds best with your other children’s names. Neve’s too close to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], For me [name_f]Fia[/name_f] doesn’t flow right with [name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] feels too “safe” compared to the other options.
[name_f]Fia[/name_f] is too similar to [name_u]Liam[/name_u]. [name_f]Neve[/name_f] is too similar to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] could work, but I’d go with [name_u]Blair[/name_u] because it’s less like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] in sound and goes great with the sibset.
I never thought about [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and [name_f]Fia[/name_f] sounding similar! I will say, [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and this baby girl will have an almost 12 year age gap, so I don’t pay much attention to those two. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] will be 1 year older. But I do think [name_u]Blair[/name_u] sounds best with the sibset still, and even with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] just sounds better! THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is definitely [name_f]Jane[/name_f] , but I think [name_u]Blair[/name_u] goes best with the sibset. [name_u]Blair[/name_u] is so elegant [name_f]Neve[/name_f] is rhyming with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (or maybe it’s just my pronunciation ) and [name_f]Fia[/name_f] has some similarities with [name_u]Liam[/name_u]. [name_f]Fia[/name_f] is cute, but I also just think about the car immediately. I’m sorry!
I voted for Blair (Neve is too similar to Maeve; Fia isn’t substantial enough for me compared to your others, but OK as a nn for Sofia or Fiona; and Jane almost rhymes with Maeve though Jane would be my second choice). Blair is strong and Celtic.
I wrote a list of options on your other thread - including names I probably prefer over any of these, such as Orla, Bridget, Phoebe, Isla, Gemma, Una/Oona. Bridget and Orla are my faves.
I love Fia!! It’s pretty for sure, but the shortness and uniqueness of it makes it definitely cool-girl vibes.
I actually was really drawn to [name_f]Jane[/name_f] surprisingly, too. Much more sweet and classic but I found it worked with your other three kids names.
I don’t love [name_u]Blair[/name_u] personally but understand it has cool factor.
What about [name_f]Nia[/name_f]? It’s the Welsh form of [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] and rhymes with [name_f]Fia[/name_f], but to me has more of a spark to it.
I’m not keen on [name_f]Fia[/name_f] as it sounds identical to fear in my accent. A lot of your names have sounds in common - Fia-Liam, Neve-Maeve, Jane-Maeve & possibly [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] depending on your pronunciation. The only name which stands out as not having any sounds in common is [name_u]Blair[/name_u], but its really not my thing, which obviously doesn’t matter as it’s your child, but I also think it’s a stylistic outlier in the set. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite by a long way is [name_f]Jane[/name_f], I love it, but the one syllable and same vowel sound similarity to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] wouldn’t be ideal (for me personally).
