[name_u]Baby[/name_u] boy is due any day now and we can’t decide on a first name! I like the biblical meanings of [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]. [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] is also similar to a family name [name_m]John[/name_m]. I want the name to be recognizable, easy to say and pronounce but not too popular. I don’t want him to have the same name as 2-3 other friends. If you have additional ideas I’d love to hear them, particularly J or R names!
Rafael is such a handsome, sweet name!! I prefer [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], but I love [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] too. So many great nn options, too!
I also really like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] (especially if you use nn [name_m]Link[/name_m]!)
I’m not a huge fan of [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] personally, its too popular for me as I’ve known soooo many of them.
If you’re wanting to avoid the common names amongst peers I’d avoid [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]. I feel like that name is getting more use these days then the others. [name_m]Roman[/name_m] also actually…
So for those reasons [name_f]My[/name_f] pick is for [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m].
Yes, I am worried about both of those rising in popularity. It’s funny that [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] seems like it would be the “common” choice, but may actually be more unique among his peers.
I like [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], but it seems like a bit much with your last name. Therefore, I choose [name_u]Lincoln[/name_u], a solid choice named after a great American!
I voted for [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] but then I remembered your surname sounds similar so I’d probably lean more towards [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] but potentially use [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] as the mn
I did a quick search on popularity, good biblical names / good meaning and things with simplicity (recognizable/ easy to say). So here are a couple other options!
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_u]Micah[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Titus[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u]
[name_m]Fredrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Jace[/name_u]
[name_m]Jared[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Ryder[/name_u]
[name_m]Jason[/name_m]
I wouldn’t worry too much about popularity. [name_u]Liam[/name_u], the #1 boys name in 2018 (the most recent date we have- we are still waiting for the 2019 data) was only given to 1% of boys born that year. The top names just aren’t as saturated as they used to be due to a more diverse pool of names being used.
We have 3 little Liams (newborn-age 1) in our neighborhood! I wouldn’t have though it would be so popular a name and 1% doesn’t sound like much, but that’s why I’m nervous about these names gaining steam.
Yes [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] would ironically be more unique
Names like [name_m]Roman[/name_m] have become so run of the mil. Liked it at first but bored of hearing it now
