Another one I just thought of is [name]Allegra[/name], it is usable or has the allergy medicine ruined it?
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Leah[/name], what are you trying to do, kill us? What a gorgeous selection and we can only pick one?
1. [name]Helena[/name] - gorgeous and underused and I love the nn [name]Lena[/name]
2. [name]Linnea[/name]- Like this fellow Scandinavian name with [name]Saskia[/name].
3. [name]Paloma[/name] - Spanish gem but it does work with Nordic [name]Saskia[/name]. Your daughter’s will practically be the United Nations!
4. [name]Marina[/name] - Very pretty.
5. [name]Petra[/name] - Goes well with [name]Saskia[/name] but there’s something about [name]Petra[/name] [name]Cruise[/name] that doesn’t flow well. I think you should keep your boys name [name]Peter[/name].
6. [name]Allegra[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name] name (I don’t care about the allergy medication) but [name]Allegra[/name] [name]Cruise[/name] sounds awkward to my ear.
FYI - I’m glad you’re still going with [name]Saskia[/name] [name]Lily[/name] - it’s quite perfect! Good luck!
Lol, thanks [name]Mischa[/name] and no I’m not trying to harm anyone
I think you arre right about [name]Petra[/name] [name]Cruise[/name], it just doesnt flow. [name]Linnea[/name], [name]Helena[/name], [name]Marina[/name], and [name]Paloma[/name] are my favorites. I am worried about prn with [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Helena[/name], but I dont think that is a huge deal. Also, do you think [name]Helena[/name] will be confused with [name]Elena[/name] constantly?
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Helena[/name] will be confused with [name]Elena[/name] constantly?
Well, I think that would depend on where you live If you reside in a area that is heavily Hispanic, then it may pose a slight problem. Spanish speaking people use [name]Elena[/name] so they would naturally gravitate towards that spelling. Although both are pretty, I prefer [name]Helena[/name] myself. It just looks more “complete” and “substantial”. Part of the attraction is the varied associations with [name]Helena[/name]: mythology, [name]Shakespeare[/name] and saint! Not many names have that mix of goodies!!! Another plus: [name]Helena[/name] is only at about No# 612 whereas [name]Elena[/name] is # 211 (probably due to the Hispanic population).
I lurve [name]Paloma[/name] and [name]Allegra[/name], the latter of which is my cat’s name. I kind of wish I had saved it for a baby but it suits my lil orange and white kitty so well… but I digress.
Either one of those would be gangbusters with your other 2 children’s names. I also really like [name]Petra[/name], but mentally reserve it for leggy Czech supermodels.
You are right [name]Helena[/name] does have so many nice attributes. [name]Elena[/name] was my top favorite for years, but it just isnt uncommon/exotic enough for me anymore. I do live in a Hispanic area now, but will be moving to Nebraska is a couple months. We would eventually like to get to the east coast area though so I would likely raise my kids there. [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Helena[/name] are looking like the two most likely winners right now. I dont think I will be able to sell my other half on [name]Paloma[/name], although it is possible.
[name]Linnea[/name] is really speaking to me here. [name]Helena[/name] is gorgeous, and works, but even with pan-European use and Scandi [name]Lena[/name], she’s so much more Greek than [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Andreas[/name] who feel much more nordic (although [name]Andreas[/name] does have a Latin feel too, which makes [name]Helena[/name] work better through a classic kind of connection). [name]Linnea[/name] also gets you another L-flower, which is sweet. You could do initials LS to continue the letter theme. I’m not sure what name off the top of my head though. [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Signy[/name] would follow the -a -y naming pattern, maybe that’s good or maybe that’s too much - meaning new victory has a lot of oomph like [name]Saskia[/name]'s meaning referring to a heritage. [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Sanna[/name] would allude to [name]Suzanne[/name], although I’m pretty sure this is a name with a separate etymology as well. Or you could stick to another English word middle, [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Dove[/name] comes to mind because of your interest in [name]Paloma[/name].
All best!
[name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] would be GORGEOUS together. [name]Both[/name] are beautiful names on their own, and they really just seem perfect together. I also really like [name]Helena[/name], [name]Paloma[/name], and [name]Marina[/name].
Thanks jesbe and irisrose. Im loving [name]Linnea[/name] more and more now. It seems like something my SO would go for to so I will have to mention it to him. [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Maren[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Therese[/name] are both options. What about [name]Linnea[/name] Marlies? Marlies is the [name]German[/name] form of [name]Maria[/name] + Lies. SO grandmas are [name]Marilyn[/name] and [name]Lieselotte[/name]. Usually I dont like name combinations but Marlies intrigues me.
Oh I really like [name]Linnea[/name] Marlies - the family connection and the sound - I also notice it’s like a fusion of your middle name interests on your own, [name]Maren[/name] and [name]Therese[/name]! [name]How[/name]'s that for coincidence : D?
Yep Marlies might be a winner. I really want to honor my SO’s grandma [name]Marilyn[/name] in one way or another. She is such a great grandma and only has two grandsons, so no one has honored her yet. I of course loved and cherish my grandma as well, but she already has several namesakes including my nephew ([name]Joseph[/name] for [name]Joann[/name] :)) My grandma [name]Lola[/name] is the only one that has not been honored yet.
I voted for [name]Linnea[/name] (nn [name]Linny[/name] is very cute), but I just saw your comment about [name]Allegra[/name], which is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don’t know why but i just love this name. Actually, I do, I think she was a character in the movie [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] Book Club?? and I thought it was just lovely on the actress. [name]Linnea[/name] is great, too, of course, just wanted to clarify my vote!
I love the look and sound of [name]Linnea[/name] Marlies. It reminds me of that wonderful [name]Marlene[/name] [name]Dietrich[/name] wartime [name]German[/name] love song “[name]Lili[/name] [name]Marleen[/name]”. Sigh! I think you’ve got your name for [name]Saskia[/name]'s sister!
Yep [name]Linnea[/name] Marlies it is…Now, what about a second boy? Does [name]Conrad[/name] sound okay? It is [name]German[/name], but for some reason it feals very different than [name]Saskia[/name], [name]Linnea[/name], and [name]Andreas[/name].What do you think? [name]Marcellus[/name] is something I have been throwing around for a second boy. I need something exotic and uncommon that is still easy to spell and pronounce, and a [name]German[/name] name would be a bonus. Thoughts on [name]Marcellus[/name]?
I love [name]Conrad[/name]. I like the fact that it’s strong and masculine next to [name]Saskia[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name]. [name]Marcellus[/name] is too matchy in ending with [name]Andreas[/name]. [name]Conrad[/name] and [name]Andreas[/name] are siblings for sure!
I think [name]Conrad[/name] is strong and sounds good with [name]Andreas[/name]. [name]Marcellus[/name] is more romantic and follows a similar sound pattern as [name]Andreas[/name].
Here are some male [name]German[/name] names I thought of for you: [name]Bruno[/name], [name]Franco[/name], [name]Gervas[/name], Hartwin, [name]Hugo[/name], Kuno, Lanzo, Liupold, [name]Milo[/name], [name]Otto[/name], Raban, [name]Rainer[/name], [name]Rocco[/name], [name]Regin[/name], [name]Walter[/name], [name]Wilhelm[/name], [name]Wolf[/name], [name]Wolfgang[/name].
Thanks for the feedback on [name]Conrad[/name]. It took me years to convince the other half to use [name]Sebastian[/name] in some way, so I really didnt want to throw [name]Conrad[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] out just yet.
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Leah[/name],
Last time I was on here, [name]Cecily[/name] was your first choice! [name]Saskia[/name] is lovely too and [name]Saskia[/name] [name]Lily[/name] is beautiful. I actually like all your name options and agree that [name]Linnea[/name] sounds particularly good with [name]Saskia[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think that there will be an pronunciation problems?
[name]Conrad[/name] is a good, strong name like [name]Andreas[/name]. I prefer [name]Marcel[/name] to [name]Marcellus[/name] but it isn’t the [name]German[/name] form which is what you prefer.
Thanks for the reply! I decided that [name]Cecily[/name] is a little to hard to say (people who hear it keep confusing it with [name]Sicily[/name]!), and perhaps to sweet for my daughter (I’m picturing a tiny terror like myself lol). I do still love it though and it still on the long list. [name]Linnea[/name] will likely run into some pronounciation errors, but then again so with [name]Andreas[/name] and [name]Saskia[/name] most likely. There is generally an accent over the E, like [name]Linn[/name]”a, which makes the pronounciation more clear. I’m not sure if I will use it or not on the birth certificate. People seem to understand [name]Rene[/name] well enough without it. But perhaps I should use it just to help people out?
