[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]) is absolutely my favorite!

I also like [name_u]August[/name_u] and don’t mind [name_m]Henry[/name_m], but I really don’t like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] (here in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] is a very common name and I know about six people named like that so I heard that name just too much).

These are all great names, and I can see each as a brother to [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. My favorites for you are [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] ([name_u]Theo[/name_u]), and [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. Good luck!

Thank you for your votes, guys! I can also see each as a brother to [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], but the problem is that one isn’t really sticking out to us as the one! I find it interesting that [name_u]August[/name_u] is leading so much in the polls. That was our original first choice but we had started looking for other names because literally no one liked it in real life (we told some family, friends, even some parents at the playground). Like really not a single person liked it. That fact along wouldn’t bother us, but we didn’t want to give our son a name that would be difficult to live with.

I voted for [name_u]August[/name_u] because it seemed like such a nice counterpart to [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. If you choose [name_u]August[/name_u] (or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m]), it will veer your sibset towards “vintage gentlemen;” if you chose [name_u]Luca[/name_u] it will make [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] read very Italian; if you choose [name_m]Simon[/name_m] that will trend the brothers towards “bibilical.”

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] seem more buttoned-up than do [name_u]August[/name_u] or [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. But a great deal will depend on your micro-environment: if you’re surrounded by little boys called [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m], then [name_u]August[/name_u] will fit right in. If you’re with Braydens and Kylers, well, [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] can slide by unnoticed but [name_u]August[/name_u] will have a tougher time.

Personally I think [name_u]August[/name_u] is a great name-- it’s an adjective meaning “venerable, wise;” it’s a month of the year, and it’s a hip vintage choice.

You could always go for the related name [name_m]Austin[/name_m], too. [name_m]Austin[/name_m] is an old diminutive of [name_m]Augustine[/name_m], and although it was over-used when we were all kids, there aren’t so many Austins running around anymore. Pairing [name_m]Austin[/name_m] with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] gives them both a hip, vaguely saintly vibe.

Would you use a nickname for [name_u]August[/name_u]? Does [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] go by a nickname? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] together, or [name_m]Augie[/name_m] and [name_m]Gabe[/name_m]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] something to consider. I love [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] together; [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] are matchy but cute. But [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Gabe[/name_m] would win the nickname contest for me.

If you use [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] in full, [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] are both great fits. And [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u] works too. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would be my last pick to go with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], and while I like [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and think it matches well, [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] together feel just a bit stuffy to me.

Anyway, just sharing my thoughts in case it helps in any way!

I chose [name_u]Luca[/name_u], but seriously all great choices!

Absolutely love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Have a cousin named that and he went by [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a toddler and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] when he got older. Very cute name.
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] is also a great one, can be called [name_m]Luc[/name_m] as a teenager. Very cool and sweet; will stick with him his whole life.
[name_u]August[/name_u] is also very cute. I know twins named [name_u]Freddy[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] they called [name_u]August[/name_u] Auggy. Very nice.
All of these names also go well with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m].

Second choice would be [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. It was a very close second. I voted [name_u]Luca[/name_u] on your [name_u]Luca[/name_u] vs. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] thread.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but I with people loving vintage/classic names, [name_u]Theo[/name_u] seems like it will be on an uptick for a few more years.

I can’t believe you weren’t getting any good feedback on [name_u]August[/name_u]. [name_m]Trust[/name_m] us Berries, I think “regular” people aren’t as visionary as the Nameberry community! LOL

[name_u]August[/name_u] is my favorite. It’s been a top name for me for awhile.
I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], only because I like the NN [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
I don’t mind [name_m]Simon[/name_m] either.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is definitely my top pick. To me it is a handsome classic. I picture a handsome, good natured, courageous boy who is kind to others with a good heart. I just don’t think you can go wrong with this name.

I love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m] equally, and my husband would never go for either, so I vote for either of those! (Knowing the surname might break the tie.)
